Xmen Origins Wolverine is next? Guys and Gals -- please go into this one with an open mind. I know that this movie has been seriously panned and all because they weren't faithful to the canon on Deadpool. Well, I (for one) don't really like Deadpool (too many of my school mates were too much like him) so I don't care if the writers take a few liberties with him. (It kind of happens a lot with Superheroe movies) the wolverine part of the movie (in my humble opinion) is great.
Colossus chucking Wolverine like a baseball - claws forward is known in the comics as the "Fastball Special". 😂 Leech is a mutant who can suppress other mutants abilities in close proximity to him. 😮 Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight has twin mutants. Jean-Paul Beaubier (Northstar) and his twin Jeane- Marie Beaubier (Aurora). They can both fly, move at superhuman speed and shoot energy blasts. 😂 In the comics The Phoenix is a cosmic force. It was drawn to Jean Grey because of her willingness to sacrifice herself in order to save her fellow X-Men. The Phoenix made a deal in which Jean would be placed in a regenerative cocoon. The Phoenix took her place creating a body based on Jean's likeness. This ultimately led to the Dark Phoenix Saga which inspired this movie. The Juggernaut in Deadpool was more comic book accurate than this version. The Juggernaut (Cain Marko) is also Charles Xavier's step- brother. But he is not a mutant. He got his powers from the Ruby of Cytorrak. A mystical artifact. 😮 If Wolverine was "cured" of his regeneration then the adamantium in his body would kill him. So that would be somewhat problematic. 😮
In the comic books, a young Scott Summers had a head injury preventing him from controlling his optical blast when his power manifested. Cyclops needs special glasses to maintain control. This is a classic Stan Lee character. Give them flaws/hinderance so they're more relatable to the readers.
It's garbage. If you need to know why it's bad, I re-refer to a post I made above: " Instead of a fitting conclusion, it's a near-incomprehensible, rushed plot full of half-baked ideas and decent questions, none with a satisfying answer, and a chaotic, rambling cluster of a movie made with little sense and coherency, fumbling it's way towards a truly asinine conclusion. At the time, we had no idea X-Men movies were going to get even worse than this one, but this was the first BIG letdown in the movie series. Even with a reaction, this one feels painful to revisit because there were DROPLETS of potential in this movie, and NONE of it pans out, and it's just a bland, incoherent mess of a film with no structure and squandering of some DECENT ideas."
@@thenightstar8312 tuned out after the first descriptor. There's nothing "near incomprehensible" about it. I found it pretty easy to follow. Rob and Trin did too. Silly hyperbole.
- The story is rushed and none of the interesting philosophical ideas are allowed to go anywhere - The pacing is very bad and all over the place - Character motivations are VERY shaky, some just making no sense - Contrivances and plot holes out the butt to the point that it's eye rolling and cringy how many coincidences and dumb 3rd grader plotpoints have dorky resolutions - Phoenix was very badly handled, INCREDIBLY disappointing compared to the source material and very badly written - Characters dying pointless, meaningless, irrelevant, anti-climactic deaths left and right for no good reason - Xavier, Cyclops, Beast, Storm, Kitty Pryde, and more got the shaft with really terrible writing and their characters were all wasted in this - Juggernaut was terribly used, an absolute farce and completely disrespectful portrayal even worse than Phoenix. Movie doesn't even understand that he's NOT a Mutant, that he's Xavier's brother and does NOTHING with any part of him that could be interesting, and Vinnie Jones playing a scrawny little idiot Juggernaut with a really cringe-inducing meme line is just so so bad. - I cannot state just how terribly Phoenix was bastardized and ruined in this movie. And by association, Jean got the shaft with a bad characterization right along with her. - The movie is entirely unfocused, rushed, badly written, the acting is at it's most lackluster and most of the effects are so cheap and cartoonish. - The very ending of the last two seconds is so cheap and undermines the entire point of the movie and any of the questions it raised just for a lame ending shock gag, even though it entirely invalidates the entire philosophy about the movie and boiled everything down into being a meaningless cycle, also meaning that all of these people died pointless deaths in a dumb war for a "cure" that, ultimately didn't work, rendering this entire movie pointless as if none of it ever even needed to happen. Yeah, sorry to say... but there's your reasons. This movie sucks.
@@thenightstar8312 - story is rushed I'll give you that. -Pacing was fine. Great, even. - WHICH character motivations were shakey and which "made no sense"?? Give examples. - the resolutions were "dorky"? Lol alright imma stop there
In his younger age Colossus could go between the two forms. But at certain point he was seriously injured and the only way to keep him alive was for him to remain in his metal form. It was thought that at some point he could change back but it was unclear when it was or he might have been just not really sure he wanted to change back.
Notes: *"I'm the Juggernaut, ******" was an homage to a meme at the time. It's worth looking up, its a funny dub of the X-men cartoons. *That bridge is the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. Probably the most famous, iconic bridge in America. It's synonymous with the SF skyline and spans the only entrance to the Bay Area.
Dear Rob and Trin: Something you should understand. Both Charles and Eric play chess, and they are rather good at it. This means that Eric can see a few moves ahead. Magneto and Mystique 'talked' about what would happen if either of them got hit by the weaponized cure. They came up with a complicated series of things to do if such ever happened. The variation that fit the situation was for mystique to distract the governmental forces from their primary objective -- ie lead them way off to the former base while Magneto attacked Alcatraz. The abandonment in the trailer was to ensure nobody else would 'give them away'. All that said -- I'm sure the incident was dramatic.
14:28 In fact, Jean Grey have been unconsciously tourmenting Scott since the end of the previous movie. That's why he's so troubled, unable to mourn or move on, and why he felt "called" back to the busted dam of Alkali Lake. 49:40 Back in the beginning of the movie, Professor X is giving studennts a speach on moral ethics, with a television showing a video of Moira talking about a human body void of consciousness, foreshadowing the Professor "taking over" the empty body.
I had really high hopes for this film... with the promise of the phoenix at the end of X2. A shame it didn't live up to that 😕 It does have some good scenes... but the story should have stayed centrally on Jean Grey's resurrection & continue onto a fourth film as Dark Phoenix. The animated Phoenix/Dark Phoenix saga is the best version.
Oh! Guys. I am glad You are exploring this universe. One thing You Will discover (in the near future) more interesting things. In the psychic battle of Phoenix and Xavier. There is a deleted scene where there is a dialog going on that reveals a Lot. Also. There is an alternet ending with Rogue in which she don't take the vaccine. This should lead you to future movies that are quite... Anyhow... Just remember there are so many years of comic and they are trying to present to a new generation... Looking forward to your next MARVEL reaction.
So you're getting closer to a fan fav "Days of Future Past" If possible you should consider what is cslled The Rogue Cut. You may not be able to find that version, but if you can, it's worth it! Not much longer, a few minutes or so, but it adds back some deleted stuff that actually improves the movie....IMO Still great, regardless
Scott dying wasn't really planned, it was done so early because James Marsden had scheduling conflicts with him filming Superman Returns. They might have planned it at some point, but it was a weird choice because of that.
Beasts original mutant power was intelligence, agility, and dexterity in his hands and feet. He then wanted a cure for it and it accidentally turned him gray and covered in fur. It later changed to blue and later still he gained a further mutation that turned him into a cat.
That projectile guy was Marrow.. yeah, he was throwing frkn bones. This WAS a middle finger to the fans, no spoilers but Jean is way more than what has been portrayed. Not sure what ur watch schedule is but do the next TWO Wolvies, THEN come back to X-men , just gives u a bit more context. I’m sure you’ve heard it already but the X-men movie timeline is screwed to say the least. Love you guys!!, said b4 but Trin has the greatest laugh EVER!!♥️♥️
Again, no part 1 and 2. Aren't you just making it harder for yourselves by getting it all out in one go? Just makes me think of 'District 9' only using 8GB memory cards, so the editors don't feel overwhelmed.
I remember this movie was SUCH a disappointment. Instead of a fitting conclusion, it's a near-incomprehensible, rushed plot full of half-baked ideas and decent questions, none with a satisfying answer, and a chaotic, rambling cluster of a movie made with little sense and coherency, fumbling it's way towards a truly asinine conclusion. At the time, we had no idea X-Men movies were going to get even worse than this one, but this was the first BIG letdown in the movie series. Even with a reaction, this one feels painful to revisit because there were DROPLETS of potential in this movie, and NONE of it pans out, and it's just a bland, incoherent mess of a film with no structure and squandering of some DECENT ideas. Except for how they handled the Phoenix. That part is still just pure trash writing.
Just recently signed up for your Patreon and I was surprised to see you've started Dexter! Will those episodes eventually uploaded to YT or are they Patreon exclusive? Some of them are over a month old, so I wasn't sure. If it is exclusive to Patreon, then is there a way to see what other shows you've done that are exclusive to Patreon?
Rob doesn’t like fish ??!! 😱😱 but how ? When ? What next ? He is greek ? 😂😂 A good thing. There is no fish in the moussaka. 42:10 that’s Miles from LOST. 😊
Consistency in the X Universe is just wonky. The Moira McTaggert you see here is far more accurate - a Scottish Geneticist. Sometimes they get it very close, or reaonably close, and sometimes they just make it a face-palmer - like Juggernaut here who isn't even a mutant.
@@robtrinreact2825 I understand. The Scots cofuse the English. I mean Haggis, right? Who would drink an Irn Bru if it wasn't torture? They did perfect the Fish & Chips tho. And I think the fried Mars bar. (shudder)
I enjoyed this movie, not as much as X2. The one thing that I really hated was that Juggernaut is supposed to be Xavier's brother. And that could have been a movie in its own right. If I were able to deliver a script back then, I'd have made a movie where Juggernaut was the primary antagonist... And I also would have put Omega Red vs wolverine. Maybe a separate movie. I also know how to tie it together if you include Colossus as a main character. Unfortunately, I think a bit of lazy writing killed the franchise. You have to be original.
Magneto sent The Juggernaut to kill the boy because The Juggernaut isn't a mutant so the boy's powers wouldn't work on him. The Juggernaut is an avatar of a god called Cyttorak so Cyttorak gives him his powers. Cyttorak is like a mix between Khonshu from Moon Knight & dormammu from the 1st Dr Strange movie.
They had to use Quill in the camp scene due to footage looking a lot like Wolverine going around the camp mercing everyone. So they intercut some scenes with the fight added.
Out of every version of Phoenix I know of this one is the weakest, both in story and power. I'm not trying to be a hater but this version is very nerfed and rushed.
I'm really enjoying your movie reactions. Have you considered watching some Godzilla movies? 2014 and up 💚 Edit: Sky High (2005) is a really fun superhero movie I think you two would love.
11:40 - one my favorite tumblr posts was about this movie. It was this scene with Storm saying "there's nothing wrong with you." It was to the effect of: Of course Storm feels this way. Storm won the superpower lottery. "Is there really a cure?" said Chainsaw-Hands Joe. "No. There's nothing to cure because there's nothing wrong with us" said Johnny Five-dicks.
The brain dead body is supposedly Charles identical twin brother. Also don't worry about anything that contradicts something they've established in these movies; they play fast and loose with the timeline. For example they totally messed up Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Me again, btw I forgot to say that the reason why I love u guys is the no context part. The enjoyment of the “new” and no context as apposed to ME and others who know the lore and the “flaws” of whtvr depiction. It’s refreshing from ALL the haters and faux critics. Like everyone else I’ve been one of them. All these stories (Marvel,DC) are the “highlights” of 20-70 yrs of characters mashed in to a movie. Good stuff’s comin ♥️♥️
The remark from Wolverine about how it hurts when he’s claws come out is more of a dark joke. Meaning that when he uses his claws the people he uses them on get hurt.
You had to come up with such a stupid story to get Rogue out of the way, because it would have been the easiest way to defeat Phoenix. No, it had to be Logan who kills her. With Rogue, she would have stayed alive. So we pull a teen drama out of our asses and make the most important mutant disappear.
This movie really was a middle finger to the fans. Thankfully we got a few good ones before the end of the Fox run. Unfortunately we also got a bunch more stinkers too. 😢
In hindsight, feels like the end when Logan says he's the only one who can stop her, Storm could have just sent a lightning bolt straight down on her instead. Be way safer.
This movie was fine for me, unfortunately I became an X-Men comic book fan in 1977 and the first comic, when my little step-sister handed me a comic book, she had got from her Dad. I was handed X-Men #127. From that moment on I was hooked. So, I came in on the John Byrne run and oh.... my....... goddess. what a run. So, when I found out, that part three would be the culmination of his Dark Phoenix Saga, you must understand my level of anticipation..... To find out that Kelsey Grammer was going to play Beast, it was if the stars aligned in sheer perfection. I understand that comics and vusal or different mediums and the purpose of one is to draw attention to the other, but this hurt, they put all the pieces in the right place and did this with it, it could have been so much more, it could have been a two parter at the very least and have included the Hellfire club instead of the US Government and plastic guns. It could have done the morlocks and the recruiting of Kitty Pryde and Dazzler/Jubilee/Ilarya But it gave us this, which was good, but could have and should have been so much more. This was the first time I did not care for a movie that I enjoyed.
