It's good that there are still Kingdoms in the world like Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the UK (United Kingdom, but still a Kingdom made from 1 Kingdom and two former Kingdoms). It shows connection to history.
I always think it's funny how the English like to talk shit about Belgium without knowing the first thing about it. I, for one, think it's the most interesting and culturally beautiful country in all of Europe. I bet most people in the UK don't even realize just how good the Flemish humour-culture is (Neveneffecten, Basta, De slimste mens, Mag ik u kussen?, Benidorm Bastards, het geslacht de Pauw,.. ) especially since it's right up British comedy's alley.
Volledig akkoord ! As a Flemish -Belgian (about 2/3 of the population ,1/3 French speaking and a small part German speaking , facts many British people are not aware of ) i concur.
that can be possible. we are partially english (the same as we are partially roman, germanian, French, spanish, burgundian, dutch, French again, german and then finally our own :) )
@oldskoolsocks1 I was just worried about the Belgian reaction to a senseless slander against them. The same anti-Belgium slur appears in the book 'Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', by Douglas Adams. That book reference was meant to be silly. I presume that the Belgium denigration is just a surreal comedy situation, rather like the 'Spanish Inquisition' in Monty Python's Flying Circus. If you are not offended by this, then I guess it doesn't matter.
lol that would THE solution. Belgian one language. done with the fights. But hell, i know that we from flanders and those from Wallonia are way to proud and stubborn to do this :)
@MrBelgiumlover First of all, I wasn't talking to you. Secondly, I love Walloons. Very social and friendly people in general, as long as they aren't chauvenistic. Only difference is that Flemish people are more open to foreigners, if they're friendly too.
@clemstevenson oh but I'm not complaining about the video, I loved that! Rowan Atkinson is a genius. It was just this hateful reaction of someone that bothered me. :)
@superZalm : I think you're right. Oddly enough I found I'm racist against the French. Never really spoke with a French person, so I really don't have any reason to. I'll just blame it on the internet.
@oldskoolsocks1 I don't know of any reasons for the British to hate the Belgians. Maybe the joke is in the irrationality of hating people for no reason.
@why1so1serious1 ik zei letterlijk:" Als je Belg bent (zoals ik) en je snapt de humor niet, gelieve dan jezelf te deporteren" . M.a.w. ik begrijp best waar het over gaat, maar toch bedankt...
