Hope this finds you well. In this video our guest Doctor, Dr Daniel Owonibi takes us through step by step on the process of coming to work in South Africa after graduating and have worked in a foreign country. Hopefully for people especially working in our sister African countries find this helpful and insightful in light of the fact there are foreign doctors who've come to SA illegally and engaged in illegal practices. In this video he discusses step by step how to do it the right way.

Interns in UK are not overworked like SA interns, they get way more just a basic salary without overtimes. And when they do them over times are simited and theh get a lot more money, yes rent is expensive especially in cities such as London

Hi I couldn't hear him properly, so I'm studying in Zambia but I'm South African, so does that mean I don't have to apply for for the foreign workforce management program because I already have South African citizenship, I can just apply for internships?

So if you already have citizenship you just have to apply to write the board exam with CMSA then after passing for internship.

The whole process can be completed within a calendar year. However due to delays in documents processing, it can take up to 3 years. So I'll say 1 to 3 years on the average.

Am from tanzania did MD from Tanzanian university that is ECFMG recognized licensed so am I required ti take the HPCSA exams to get registered ?? Thanks

Yes, so the exam is by Colleges of medicine SA (cmsa) you get registered by hpcsa after passing

The exam is pretty straightforward.. The ethics can be tricky so it needs to be well studied and understood. Otherwise it similar to year 6 exit examination. So if you passed med school then you'll likely find it easy.

Hi Dr. Ann Thank you for this enlightening video. He mentions 'once you pass THE exam', I believe that is the CMSA exam. However on the CMSA's website there is a long list of exams for so many specialties. So for a UK based doctor who wants to be licensed to work as a medical officer in South Africa as well which of these exams would you write? Many thanks 👍
