No spoilers, but everyone had their fill of salt this week. As we try to provide an authentic show, like always it's all there for everyone to see. Thanks for understanding we're still human, and I hope we can continue to provide some entertainment when we're not at our best.

Games can be frustrating at times. Salt will always happen no matter what from time to time even on vs series (Ross has been known from time to time). We are all humans and sometimes we can't control our emotions.

At the turn that REDACTED happened, it was reasonable for REDACTED to occur. Sometimes a deck just does that, and if no one has any responses, it can basically be game. Yeah, I know that REDACTED can cause some salt, but they are a valid part of EDH. And an hour in, every turn should have the potential to end the game (or at least risk knocking a player or two out of the game).

I love that you guys keep it real. You 4 are by far the most enjoyable to watch, even at your saltiest, because it adds a level of authenticity to the game. My advice is you all should partake in some recreational cannabis before the next one lol.

After months of binge watching, I'm all caught up on my spreadsheet. Going into this game here are the point totals: Justin 496.3, Jon 455.5, Stephen 453.5, Jeremy 409. Justin has won 6 seasons. Stephen has won 5, and Jeremy and Jon have won 4 each. West Wise won 1 season.

I kinda like the idea of starting the tracking for this group at the start of Season 5 onwards. It's Jon's first full season back after Wes left and the group remained together ever since (except a few Director Kyle games)

Justin has gotten first blood 50 times. Jon has gotten first blood 42 times. Stephen 40 times, and Jeremy 36 times. Director Kyle West has gotten first blood twice.

I always love your budget episodes! Great, obscure, commanders with some great, obscure, cards! The salt may have flowed a bit but it happens, I hope everyone gets to move past it to enjoy themselves again. Can't wait for next week!

Once again, thanks for allowing us to watch your game, boys. Each of you brings something to the content, and I like each of you for different reasons. We audience members would do well to remember that these are abnormal times we're in, that these gentlemen playing have personal lives and we don't know what stresses they are facing. Fellas, I've seen every episode of yours, most of them twice, some three times, so believe me this comes from a place of love... This episode is so hard to watch. The salt levels are off the charts, and it seems like there was legitimate frustration. It feels like every move in the game is taken so personally. I know tempers are easy to fray right now, so I can empathize with how you may be feeling. I hope you all are doing well, and if not please take some time to decompress and get the attitudes under control. Seriously, nothing but love, I really want to see you all enjoying the games.

At the 40~ minute mark you can really start to feel the salt creeping in. I’m not even sure why Stephen was getting so tilted, he had a great board state and was unaffected by the prison effects on board. I felt the worst for Jon, despite being a huge threat if left unchecked I think that chaos moon really screwed things. I was thinking about playing one myself but I think the accounting involves actively pisses people off more than the ramp it can generate.

I don't think they are all more salty this week than some times in the past. But I do think that playing by webcam is beginning to take a toll. I would not judge them at all if they took a month off to recharge.

I'm a bit surprised about all the talk in the comments about the saltiness of this game to be honest. I personally did not perceive it as particularly such at all, I feel like there were some episodes in the past where it was much more obvious. What I did notice, however, in this episode and in a couple of the last ones is Justin's facial expression being kinda gloomy (or annoyed even) at times when he's not talking. I hope that everything's fine and that they still do enjoy their playing together just as much as we enjoy watching them!

Yeah, this was a rough episode to watch. Part of it is because I think I come to the commander VS series to be distracted from everything. Adding salt when I'm already salty is just kind of meh. I definitely think some time off for em all would be great.

Lots of showing a card for half a second and then taking it down to a display of nothing long before anything else was played during this one. It's nice to be able to read those. I guess it's being picky but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense and it isn't usually like that. About halfway through, it happened so often I ended up pausing to read them before they vanished for no reason.

I feel like this doesn't fulfill the letter of "killing everyone in one turn" but it fills the spirit of the rule. He killed two people, passed, and killed the last person on upkeep. That has the same amount of "feels bad".

That rule isn't to prevent feel-bads. That rule is to discourage infinite combos, which by necessity usually kill everyone all at once.

@@dustyfox6511 I would argue that any type of infinite combo reduces entertainment value. He chose/used a combo that he could "turn off" in order to dodge out on the "win in one turn" rule. The spirit of the rule is and the spirit of his combo are still in conflict in my mind.

I really like this playgroup and I'm so often amused by people in the comments thinking they see genuine angst or salt in these games where in reality it is 99% of the time just banter done in good humor between guys that are all very comfortable with each other. However parts of this game are the 1% where the angst is clearly real, and it's genuinely uncomfortable. I always look forward to these videos, but maybe it''s worth taking a small break away from each other to decompress because if the guys aren't having fun playing the game, and if they're constantly needling one another, the video isn't that fun either. Also, what was with the prolonged slow roll on the final turn? Asking everyone around the table what their plans are for their next turns, at length, before putting down the infinite combo and winning the game feels close to deliberate trolling - as does passing the turn to Stephen when he's very clearly dead. Infinite combos are fun-killers at the best of times, but that was too much.

He wanted to let Stephen cast his commander because Stephen had forgotten to play it all game, and Justin wanted to win but didn't find it necessary to also cut Stephen off from his point. I honestly thought it was a nice move on Justin's part.

@@Adjacent_2 Perhaps if he had said as much, but without that clarification it comes across as BM. I wondered if he was just trying to avoid losing a point by not technically killing everyone in the same turn when he passed there - but either way I fully agree with Stephen refusing his turn and conceding instead. I would do the same thing if I was shown I was dead by my opponent, but then they passed the turn to me.

@@euanmacleod3738 As someone who is 100% #TeamGreen I can say absolutely Stephen should have taken the free point. Who cares about pride in one moment of one game? The intent of points is to win the season, build your dynasty. I wish he'd taken the point and then just built off that to take down Justin/anyone else next week.

@@Adjacent_2 In these situations, they always pass the turn and kill on upkeep to get around the point loss for killing every opponent on the same turn. I seriously doubt that it was to let Stephen cast his Commander.

There’s a ton of good cards on the cheap these days makes budget more palatable. Super powerful uncommons mixed with the sheer amount of product and cards coming out these days plus those goddam collectors boxes helping to keep the non chase rares and mythics prices low has been great for players with non RL cards like me

I still feel like a tweak to your 'kill all players in a single turn' -1 point would be good. If you have a combo and can pass to the next upkeep, that shouldn't be a way to avoid the -1. Breaks the spirit of what the rule is trying for, without a positive trade off in viewing experience.

Not every combo can start itself up again once it stops, plus the player left alive gets an untap and can then react. I think it's enough to punish combos that need to finish once they start and let a player like in Justin's situation here have to risk giving Stephen an opportunity to preserve the point.

@@hobbitq While I agree there are categorically different infinite combos, I don't think many play groups would split hairs between those two types. They both feel similar from across the table, and make for similarly awkward 'TV', there's just the slight extra drama of an untap step. And it's pretty "gamey"/artificial to pass turn just to save yourself a point when you have the kill on the table, even if it comes with risk. I also think awarding points as 4-3-2-1, when choosing people's death order via a combo like this, should be 3-1-1-1 instead. It seems a pretty suitable reward for clearing the table in ~one go, and isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it involves redefining how order of death is determined, or having some arrangement for players scooping in unison when simultaneous lethal is demonstrated.

@@erfunk I think 3-1-1-1 is preferable for that as well. Though I see the argument for 4-3-2-1. With John in the lead Justin wanted him to get the least points so in a season situation it makes a bit more sense to me. Intuitively, though, it feels a lot like "I did XYZ and then won" not "I killed A, then B, then C." I'd rather season point implications play as minor a role as possible in decisions like that. Attack and leave yourself open to get first blood, fine, gang up on the leader and essentially play 1v1v1, not so much. For the most part I think they're good at that, but in this video I think the 4-3-2-1 style is a little too meta. If this wasn't being filmed with finishing the win making for better entertainment, the table scoops when nobody has a response to Pemmin's.

@@hobbitq Yeah but I definitely feel that picking the point totals in the middle of a 4-3-2-1 is pretty crummy too. I understand the way things were point totaled, but it just felt disingenuous for Justin to "give" Stephen a turn. This should have a -1 implication just by way of "spirit of the game." I'm with Stephen on this one, saying "I'm not going to take my turn." It comes off like a "I could've beat you, but here's a pity turn."

stephen forgot to make a faerie for thrill of possibility, and stephen could have responsed to the cast during the last turn to draw possibly have draw an instant that would have saved the table.

Super long time fan of the show. I always hear you mention your personal ulasht the hate seed deck in past episodes Justin do you have a link to a deck list? . . . . . That Rube Goldberg machine combo at the end was so clutch and right when the quad damage was coming. Great plays.

Yay Latulla! She was one of my first commanders. I have a semi-outdated decktech for her in my channel, not much has changes in the past 10 years for her. There is a new artifact coming out that combos with basalt Monolith to enable infinite mana, likely the first addition I'll be adding to my list since Paradox Engine was released and then banned.

Reveka, Wizard Savant only cares abut your NEXT untap step not subsequent untap steps. if you activate it 100 times it will ONLY NOT untap during your NEXT untap step.

What gave Reveka haste the turn it came into play? It was pinging cards the turn it resolved. Sorry, I was only half listening by that point as I was pretty sure the horseshoe crab deck was going to get there.

Spoiler: - - - - - - having a win condition on turn 10 even if infinite is not a bad thing, Same as having a big board and going in on combat damage. removal would deal with both.

Agree, most games end around turn 10 anyway. It wasn't too cheap or feel bad. It was a cool deck! Def makes me rethink some of my decks and play-style

That's true 1v1, but that comparison doesn't work for 1vsX. Infinite combos like this end the game on turn 10 regardless of how many opponents are sat at the table, and it does so with only minimal interaction with their board states. It's also not as obvious a problem to see coming, and you can't expect someone at the table to always be keeping up instant removal to thwart a potential instant-win from someone while also engaging in a power-struggle with everyone else in the game. It doesn't have to be a clearly bad thing, but it is definitely not the same as combat damage from a big board - unless of course we're talking about an infinitely big board as the result of an infinite combo.

@@euanmacleod3738 in this game you could see it comming a few turns before tho. but i agree with sudently inf combo in 1 v x amount of players is feel bad sometimes. when i play them(in my high power deck) i always say it before the game and want the same amount of power against me if i am playing that.

@@TheAwesomeAleks Yeah, so long as everyone is made aware of the combo, and they all know what's up, I think that gives plenty of opportunity to stop it while also taking away any feel bad surprise when the combo does come online. If anything, I imagine you get undue heat from opponents overly worried about the combo. It was a little surprising that all the red decks didn't or couldn't go after the fate stitcher at all in this game.

Disagree. Winning in non combo ways are usually more interactable and they typically don't come out of nowhere. Being in a commanding position is good, but your opponents can try to make good plays to come back. A combo just ends the game. There is no more play after that. Games with combo don't even feel like mtg. It's a race to beat the combo player and disrupt them before they can bust their load. If you successfully dunk on them, They feel (rightly) targeted. If they're not, they win. It's inorganic magic and I'm really against it personally.

That's not how Reveka works. You don't need to pile up counters to track how long she won't untap. It's just your next untap phase, like exert. Didn't really matter, but still..

Jeremy uses 17 mana for "X" in a creature, leaving zero mana available to activate its ability in case someone has interaction. THEN gets salty when someone has interaction. this guy never "adds" anything to commander clash.

still binging through the episodes, but in this one the explanation of why it isn't infinite is so bad. Fate stitcher doesn't untap itself and thousand year cost mana. if Fate stitcher untapped itself then it would of been over as soon as it was equipped.

An effect that causes a player to skip an event, step, phase, or turn is a replacement effect. “Skip [something]” is the same as “Instead of doing [something], do nothing.” Once a step, phase, or turn has started, it can no longer be skipped-any skip effects will wait until the next occurrence. 614.10a Anything scheduled for a skipped step, phase, or turn won’t happen. Anything scheduled for the “next” occurrence of something waits for the first occurrence that isn’t skipped. If two effects each cause a player to skip his or her next occurrence, that player must skip the next two; one effect will be satisfied in skipping the first occurrence, while the other will remain until another occurrence can be skipped.

@@JParnell1 Reveka's text doesn't say skip. It says "doesn't untap during your next upkeep step." All of those would expire at the same time. If the effect said to skip your next untap step 614.10 would apply. But this doesn't replace or remove your untap step. It's the same thing that would happen if someone attacked with two Frost Titans which both targeted the same permanent.

In case anyone is wondering, 611.2a is the rule that applies here. Each 'doesn't untap' clause is a continuous effect that lasts until your next untap step. Each of the effects has the same duration - until your next untap step. Once that step has passed, each of the effects expire.

Maybe he is, could be that quarantine is finally getting to him and he is giving in to the salt. It's not out of the question that he is going through a rough time in his life, but he still wants to put up a front and act like he is fine. It's times like these that we should show our appreciation for the show and how it takes our minds of troubles we deal with, even if the best we can do for a comment creator is leave a like on the video and a positive comment in the comment section.

Really everyone was kinda salty this game and Justin in the comments even apologized for everyone's reactions. Probably didn't help that Jon got EXTREME mana flooded and the rest was making sure chaos moon was always going to screw him no matter what.

Since infinite combos are discouraged and seemingly disliked by the group (and I understand why and agree), why not make that a point penalty? -1 point if you establish an infinite combo.

Because that's a silly rule to have? Many decks will have accidental infinites just from including cards that synergize. It was stitcher, bracers, aura, and a Pinger. 4 card, combo that relied on two tiny creatures. If you complain about this you're a bit rediculous lol

Man people who use this episode as an example of a lot of salt are crazy. There is very little salt here Wanna see salt? Last week a member of our playgroup refused to play a second game with uswith us because i conceded before damage so she wouldn't gain life and then she lost. She literally held it against me the whole day. And yall are talking about some mild complaining
