UK laws: please replace your exhaust Germany: 2 weeks impound, 3 points, possible criminal charge for tax evasion and a minimum fine of 3000€ if you decat your car
That's nice to know about LEDs. I just ordered a pair that are specced at 1,600lm and 16w. I wanted a low power replacement. I may even have a look at the circuit board to see if I can modify them to drop to 10w per bulb. I don't want brighter bulbs, I want more efficient bulbs so it doesn't effect the performance of the stop-start as quickly... 32w Vs 120w is a big difference. I don't trust led rear lights though because it's a single circuit, not a multi filament bulb, so there's not a dedicated signal to brighten them when you press the brakes! I don't see why there isn't more of a market for low power consumption led headlight bulbs Vs these 100w led kits that give off 12,000+ lumens.
Hi Dan, great video - you also reminded me of around seven years ago when I wanted to replace my halogen headlamp bulbs for xenon ones, & I apparently it wasn’t legal because my car didn’t have an automatic self leveller, so my only other option was to buy a complete headlight unit with xenon bulb & self leveller including, which cost alot more! And at the end of all the faffing I wish I’d of just ordered the damn car with Xenon’s originally as it was an option😅🤣
@@Dan_AYP Oh & while I’m on the subject of headlights, my current car (Mazda 3) came with LED’s on my spec (I love em, they do the turny thing when going round corners awesome!😬) the amount of flipping cars that flash me and I see there gums flappin trying to give me abuse lol because they think I’ve got my main beams on 🙄 I try my hardest to flash back to say look duhhh, but don’t always get the chance🤣
So i have a diesel bmw 2008 and its not ulez compliant i wanted to change the engine since the engine has gone to a 2 or 3 litre petrol engine I wanted to know any legal obstacles i may have to face ?
They certainly do mate, my dads friend has a hot rod and the legislation just says it has to have an exhaust the exits the engine bay or somthing... so its straight out the side of the bonnet on each side 😂 no silencers never mind a cat haha
No idea. Exhaust laws differ very much on older cars from todays vehicles. For example im aware that certain years past, only specify the fume must exit behind the vehicle. Im not sure of the years but, no mentions are made of certain years past needing cats and/or even silencers
You can completely fuck off the back box this is bullshit the cat / Dpf if you have one have to be there and it has to pass an emissions test but silencers/back boxes are completely legal remove
Not that I'm aware of as long as it meets its intended purpose and silences the car effectively inline with legislation and the cars original dB limit, but as mentioned the police in the UK are a little lenient with a little variation on the dB increase.
It deletes the air bag, so if your car came with an air bag. No, as the car has to retain its standard equipment, thats why I fit a ep2 sport wheel and retrimmed it on my coupe 👍 looks miles better than the ek civic wheel
