Gale really said "It's you, not me" omg, how do you even trainwreck hard enough to drive him to that??? You give the man three boots and a kiss, and he starts planning the wedding
and even if you do evil choices, he will tolerate it as he is neutral and will stick around so long as you follow the path to fighting the absolute and align with his objectives. To get him to outright reject you, you ussually have to kill a lot of innocents on the spot for no reason, so he losses faith in you cause you're being an unstable psycho with no purpose. Even the Durge atleast directs their tendencies.
@@tenjenk I'm on my very first playthrough an decided to follow the absolute and help them slaughter the entire emerald grove and the refugees. Karlach left right when I made the choice to do so and Gale wanted to leave after he had to join the massacre but I could persuade him over with a 15 roll lmao otherwise he would have left two. so yeah those two are not so fond of genocide
he is like one of the easiest i didnt even kiss him and he almost left becouse me going out with wyll, and i was like stop being a drama queen we have a conversation where you talked about your ex we are not dating
Losing my mind over the fact that Karlach still remains so sweet and positive even when she makes it clear she can’t stand being around you anymore lol. I just adore her 🥰
@@hevnervals No it doesn't, it just means she doesn't feel the need to be mean about things. When Karlach feels the need to be mean - You will feel it. And it ain't pretty. lol
@@mrbutish what are you talking about? every companion lies and/or has secrets. that's legit just the bit of the game. with closeness comes honesty and trust.
The fact that it's the same Tav in all of these scenes (who, even better, looks like a totally normal dude) makes it seem like he's been absolutely HEINOUS to warrant these reactions from every single companion
She's not especially opposed to kindness and good acts (She's easier to deal with than Astarion for sure), she just detests wasting opportunities and letting things go unpunished. She's power hungry and hates giving up any advantages.
damn Minthara just wanted a home. this and the ending where she hope their journey would last longer so she can enjoy the company a bit more just... thats a deep character right there
Something satisfying about them going "I had a good feeling about you, that you were the one, but I was wrong". Maybe it's because most RPGs won't let you dismiss or chase out companions.
I hate it when the important characters have some sort if an "importance shield" which is stopping you from losing them/their trust. In reality, we are capable of disappointment, betrayal, or a simple change of mind. I think that in games and movies, we should also be able to have that.
Approval has a lot of effcet. For example i never experienced Gale so angry. He was always content with me, always positive and was more friendly. No matter if i romanced him or just friend, i always had full approval at some point with Gale. One must have messed up with his approval good, to get that reaction^^
You literally have to get his disapproval on purpose to get it that low, he is literally the easiest companion to get along with due to him giving huge approval in his Questline.
I also reccomend checking out his reaction at the goblin party if you slaughter the grove. He sounds not just angry he is *depressed* and loaths you. I have only seen him so angry only when Nettie tries to poison you.
I have never even tried to getting Gales approval. In my play-through I played a morally grey character, only did good deeds so long as they personally benefited me. A few days ago I checked my approval with Gale it was 100%. He is extremely easy to please, I literally have no idea how to piss him off. Same with Shadowheart, my approval with her is 97%. Ironically the only persons whose approval I was desperately seeking, even to the point of savescamming at times was Astarian, and his approval of me is 60%, go figure.
@@Deadpan_Snarker I mostly compromise with Nettie. I just tell her i will take the poison once i show any signs of transformation, and everyone is satisfied^^
My Gods. I didn't even know it was possible to make them outright hate you to leave camp. I thought companions leaving can only be brought upon by storyline choices.
Takes a lot of contempt for people to actually leave you when they will literally lose their free will and become puppets of the Absolute if they leave. These people know without a doubt they will become mind flayers if they leave... and they leave. Thats an impressive achievement.
I wouldn't say they know without a doubt that they'll become mindflayers if they just leave you. The Emperor has already taken them under its protection and they're probably not going far. Plus plenty of True Souls are running around not transforming, and they've already witnessed that the Emperor can bring converted True Souls successfully under its protection and break that spell. So really the logic is more like, "I'm being protected by an entity within an artifact that was able to protect each of us across the crash site region before we found each other, and [in almost every case] this city is where I live anyway. I have a decent shot at staying in close enough proximity to the artifact that I won't lose the protection. If I do lose it, I might become a True Soul, which is also reversible, and I've made plenty of allies along the way even if my main one turned out to be a bust. Becoming a Mindflayer remains a possibility, but it's a possibility I've already been grappling with for weeks/months on this journey, and I'm still a few steps away from that conclusion."
I remember Gale wanting to leave on my Durge play through and we killed Tieflings, one of the responses you can give is “but i got you this idol of Silvanus!” I was in vc with a friend saying I can’t believe he would try to leave we’re best friends I gave him a high five and didn’t chop his hand off!
Maybe they all team up afterwards and Tav becomes the first person on the enemy list. XD That would be some way to end the game, if they could just throw the player character out.
Even in bad playthrouhs I am always good for my companions. These randoms are your family in this dire tadpole situation. You can kill people in cold blood in this game but if you mistread your companions then I have no words
@@TheSilkKing1 Sometimes you need to disengage in a non-confrontational way. I've met people who seem ok, but after a while you think "I'm glad this person doesn't know where my family lives" and you re-assure yourself that they don't know much about you after replaying conversations you had in your mind. If they keep popping up in your life unnannounced then yes, Lae'zel absolutely needs to step in.
Other than killing the Tieflings, neither have I. Hell, Gale has been in camp most of my current playthrough and I have a good approval with him lol. Just needed to pass a check after the slaughter
I would like to think they steal the artifact from Tav and leave as a group to continue on and leave the player to be the one to turn to a mindflayer. They all deserve the best
I don't even know how you'd trigger these unless you are specifically doing everything to lose approval with them. Of course certain actions will make companions leave regardless like freeing nightsong without shadowheart present, but even in my evil playthrough I never got Gale to hate me enough to leave. He was always around mid approval.
At 500 hours in the game I didn't even know you could lose companions (other than attacking the tieflings of course, I already have done that once). I was thinking the approval system was mostly for show or for romance. I don't think I've ever managed to get approval down very low.
It is good, that the game gives you also the consequences of your actions! While the companions are mostly rather flexible about your deeds (I don't even comprehend how to agro Gale or Shadowheart so much) there must be some limits which are enforced.
I don’t think this will ever happen to me. I love Astarion and I always try to be nice to him. Plus it does not really make sense to me at all to piss off a vampire. Maybe if you had a death wish or was really really really stupid lol And im nice to the others too because I kinda just don’t like it when people are angry at me, even if its just fictional. If I accidentally say something wrong, I always reload an earlier save. I want to be everyone’s friends. Well, most of them anyway. I don’t really care for Lae’zel or Minthara or Shadowheart. But at the same time, I can’t see myself saying mean things to them for no reason either.
My God these are so sad... they are making me emotional. The worse one in my opinion is Karlac she is such a sweet character. I can't bear to upset her.
Bro how do you even piss Astarion, Gale, and Shadowheart off this bad? I’ve done some horrible shit and even Gale didn’t get this upset. Hell at one point I tried to kill him and he STILL stayed. I wiped out the grove. I can’t even imagine how creatively messed up you had to be. 😂
I always wonder if this kinda thing could happen and hve to be a rear sociopath or have some double standars to reach some of this reactions. Realy nice to see and i bet it was hard enough to reach all of them.
I thought it would be neat to have a companion that doesn't say anything and just leaves. Not going to make a whole thing about it. "Nope. I'm out." No ultimatum, just gone. Maybe find them later someplace else in the world. You approach them and it's just "..." Or someone even more crazy than the player. You piss them off and they slit your throat in the night after multiple warnings.
It depends, for example, if you side with the Absolute, mama K is like "nope, bye", or when you kick Astarion in the manhood, he leaves without any further dialogue (which I find hilarious😂)
only one time- By ACCIDENT i made Wyll upset with me in the first level.. then the second level... mistakes were made..i wouldn't voluntarily try to upset my companions in any way. 🙃 On a different note Minsc is so funny i love him XD
Those are beautiful cast of companions. I am redoing hours of play time because i don't do the minthara knockout right. I never wanted those companions to be hurt and leave.
After watching this (and especially the Shadowheart bit) I had to open one of my campaigns in which I'm with her and give her a kiss. ('Cause it's the closest option to hugging her).
Why be such a bitch about it? If he’s in your party, can’t he just grab something while youre travelling? Shouldn’t be too hard to just pick something up off the ground or do his own shopping, why does he need Tav for that? Lol everyone acts tough but they’re all a bunch of useless lazy defenceless idiots that need you for everything. It’s kinda funny and sad too lol
apart from Astarion who I gave to the Gur and Wyll and Karlach getting in a snit while I recruited Minthara I didnt know it was possible to drive them away, certainly not after romancing, what the hell you got to do?
