I purchased the original Spin flare set, used it once on some oil lines and they leaked. Had to re do them with an old standby handjobber.

If you ever decide to have a contest for that thermal imaging camera though I would be very interested. Would come in handy when doing load calculations. I thought about getting the FLIR device that you can use with your phone. Still deciding on what brand to get.

Mike I absolutely love you videos and your work motto. However if you aren't properly torqing those flare fittings to the manufacturer required torque you are guessing. Torquing is testing and if you aren't testing you are guessing.

The Navac Flare tool works great. I would suggest buying the flare gauge made by Navac part #NFG1 to check your flares when you are done. I made the switch to the >B

It helps allot having a crew that gets along and has a good leader to delegate what gets done in an order with experience. Now only once, i installed a 2 zone fujitsu 100% by myself in 9 hours. Was fun and being on the ground floor helped lol

I use the hilmor orbital flare tool. It produces a beautiful flare everytime, sure u have to turn it by hand but I think its just as fast if not faster than these 2 options. also easier to lug around in an attic. and only around 140 bucks

What is Hvac guys do for our customers. Just met a client. Was talking to him about job guy start seizures crashes into wall. Called 911 grabbed racks to stop blood on his face. Rolled him on his side. 911 showed up took over. Dam what a day. Worth it. Behind schedule now

The pro fits are made so the flare isn’t done completely. While it’s still hot the flare nut finishes the flare for a form fit.

Something that really helps move the installs fast is the salesman (Mikey) doing the bid, because most salesmen just say “yeah sure we can” and never use a measuring tape or are ignorant of the equipment. Especially since you’re the business owner I commend your due diligence.

The reason he gets them done so fast is he sends plenty of help. I worked for a company that would only put one guy on a job like that. Some companies abuse their employees to make more profit and/ or submit lower bids to win a job. Im all for more help on the job. Safer and more pleasant working enviorment.

You can keep your Rectoseal junk, The Navac is the tool to have. One other tip is pick up one or two lifetime "one hand folding tables" from HD. I love these things for quick easy to deploy and store work table. They are plenty strong enough for light duty work bench not to be used as scaffolding but great place to work and keep tools.

Rector seal also make a spinny swage kit. I use it often. Often times jobs won’t allow press fittings and It’s a lifesaver on VRF jobs with thousands of feet of linesets.

You ever use any of those flare seal gaskets? I used them on my 3 zone LG RED system and my 3 mitsubishi hyper heat single zone systems... Been 3 years and all 24 joints have been perfect.. no leaks. systems never throw any fault codes for low charge.. and it was my first time installing any type of HVAC system.. I made all the flares, made sure all joints were torqued properly and i also used nylog on the threads and contact surfaces..I been in temperature controls for about 7 years so i learned alot along the way about all the systems i worked on.. Sizing, engineering, placement, installation.. all but one use condensate pumps, 2 of the Mitsubishi's i wired in the pump to the call signal to kill the system if there was an issue with the pump..All systems running like a top.. BUT IT WAS A TON OF WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess Im old school even though Im only 25. I have an old 90s multi flaring tool I still use to this day. Works just fine, not nearly as quick but I charge by the hour anyways.

10:17 at least that fur coat isn't cottonwood. In Michigan, we have cottonwood trees everywhere, and they make a blanket on coils every year. (You can see examples on MI heating Guy's channel, his service area is about 30 miles north of me)

Eh heating up copper sufficiently actually anneals it and makes it more ductile, but that doesn't happen until your north of 500f. Flaring is the same stress, it's actually work hardening the copper. Since the flare itself isn't under any significant vibration loads, any work hardening of the copper isn't sufficient enough to matter. I can't see any significant difference as far as the strength of the flare is concerned, however conical flare tools tend to have a smoother mating surface. The crush of the flare into the other end is about the same though.

The spin flare needs to be tightened down to finish the flare I believe. It will be close to the navac flare after its installed. I'd be happy to take it off your hands, I'll send you an email!

What's wrong with the Goodman fur coat. It is ready for winter. To take care of that, you set up the fan to run in reverse and blow the air then from inside out. Problem solved lol

What would be the price difference between a new central air system in the attic with ducting vs mini split like installed? 3x?

With ducting you're probably gonna expect $20k for a central system at least. You'll expect a system like Mikey just installed to be at least $10k, but there are disadvantages and advantages to both. More people to service a central system, you need to have a good reputation company installing mini splits and central but mini splits especially because there are so many install errors

They don't like nylog because it helps to prevent leaks. They all want to sell parts. Gree wants you to use nylog. Midea also makes great mini splits

@@PipeDoctor that cover you had for the pipe chase was called denko, im sure unrelated to the guy Sergei Denko that hired a bunch of middle eastern illegal immigrants for his shell company to do work on the sprinkler systems in the twin towers. Guys still out there committing crimes too, was just indicted for a fraud business in nyc a few years ago even. The name of the company was Denko Mechanical. Just another one of the 500 loose ends nobody bothered to look into.

Hey Mikey, I’ve seen dielectric grease come with a couple condensers I’ve got recently. I’ve read the install manual but didn’t see anything on it. I assume I would just Put a little on all of my connections to avoid corrosion. Any insight on this?

Mike have you ran into any issues with the white insulated arms flex , with the gray insides They’ve been eating thru the copper and causing leaks We’ve had a lot of leaks on these ductless line sets There’s some kind of a reaction with the copper and we’ve had to replace a lot of them

Can you flare an aluminum pipe I helped my friend install his mini split and his line set was part aluminum and part copper the ends of the line set were the flare nuts were copper and the rest was aluminum so we cut the line set because there was extra line set and we saw that line set was aluminum can we flare an aluminum pipe we don’t know what to do

You can flare aluminum. But I’d be careful when flaring to not split it or crush it to much. And same with tightening the fitting
