I received my Smart Sensor CO2 Handheld meter in the mail today and was doing some tests to compare it to the TemTop CO2 monitor, and discovered something very interesting which led me to create this video right away instead of waiting. I hope that the information in this video is instructive as well as informative.
If you like this type of video, please let me know in the comments about a subject you would like to discuss and I will do my best to create a video on that subject, or if you have a video idea for a DIY project, A review of a product or anything else, I will be happy to create that content as well.
Thanks for stopping by, and remember - find someone who needs to laugh, needs to smile, needs to cry, or just simply needs a friend - and make it happen ;).

Thank You for a quick response. First question - when calibrating the device, It is calibrated to atmospheric air which, according to the manufacturer, is 20.9%. That might skew the results if the atmospheric is, for example, 19%. In my opinion, the device must have a calibration gas of 20.9% so that whatever atmospheric is, an accurate number can be observed. Turning on the monitor, It counts down from 10 to 0 and then displays 0.0 with AL2 with the alarm flashing. I hit the mode button and I display 19.3 with the 3 flashing. Below it has LoL. Hitting the mode again and I get 14.1 displayed with the .1 flashing. Again LoL is below. hitting mode again and I return to AL2 with 0.0 displayed.. Alarm is flashing. APO is displayed after random button input. It is off. I have no idea what this is. On or Off? That is a start. Thank You for looking into this. With the troubled oceans and declining phytoplankton, knowing the true oxygen content of what we are breathing is very important. REMEMBER - You can go three weeks without food. You can go three days without water. But you can not go three minutes without oxygen. Just a thought? or Just a warning. Stam

Hello Stam, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I went to bed early last night to be rested for a trip I am taking this weekend for my job. Thanks for your questions. To make this easier than trying to answer these questions (as that might get a little confusing), I will try and create a video that shows how to zero calibrate this meter. I actually have the Smart Sensor AR8100 myself, but have not really started using it yet. I am getting ready to go out of town for a couple days, and will be back on Monday. I will be studying this meter (while I am away), and learning how to effectively use it and zero it out for first use. Once I get back Monday, I will be ready to create a video that demonstrates in detail how to zero this out for first use, but also how to calibrate the device and use it. I have been spending so much time with building my new case for air quality monitor testing, and working my regular job that I had completely forgotten about having this monitor LOL. I am glad that you commented about this, as it will enable me now to get to really know this meter and spending time with it. I won't need to use the new case to create this video, so that will enable me to dedicate my time and attention right now to doing this video for you. I see that you have subscribed (thank you for that), and you will know when I have completed and uploaded this video. I hope to have this done for you by Tuesday. I have spent some time already with getting to know the meter, and am confident I will be able to do justice to the knowledge you seek... Thanks so much for your comment as it is giving me the opportunity to get this out and start using it. I later on, want to create a video testing different ideas I have come up with for using the Smart Sensor AR8100, which is the reason I purchased it in the first place. Please stay tuned, and I should have a video to answer your questions by early next week. 👍👍

Wow I just discovered this channel and I love the concept but I also just wanted to comment on your room it’s so cosy for anyone who likes to tinker or likes technology I can tell that you put a lot of thought into the function of it and it just looks like a great space to create and tinker and do whatever you want you know what I mean I’m so glad RU-vid recommended me your channel I am also somewhat obsessed with air quality so these videos are very helpful I hope your channel grows it’s clear you put a lot of effort in your content thank you

Thank you for your comment - much appreciated. Yes, I love cozy myself :). I just love tinkering and DIY-ing. I am working on putting together another test using the Smart Sensor CO2 meter and a new meter I just got in the mail today (a Smart Sensor Oxygen meter). I try to come up with ideas that hasn't been done already, but that can at times be a bit difficult LOL.

Thank you so much Fiona for the comment - it is much appreciated. I am also very happy that you threw out that fake monitor :). I just saw another fake monitor selling for around 100.00 on amazon. You are right, it is getting quite difficult to know what to buy when the prices for fake monitors is on the rise - it is unfortunate.

Three reasons CO clears more quickly. CO2 is a larger molecule so moves more slowly, about 20% slower. There is less of it. The sensor was closer to the fan. Thanks for the video. I recently bought a C10 and wondered how accurate it is.

Thanks John for the comment and information. I admit that I am not the smartest guy in the room, so great to get input. I am constantly surprised by TemTop and their performance (accept for their M2000 model - got two in a row that were defective - so I guess just a fluke... This was a fun video to do. I am waiting on a Smart Sensor Oxygen meter and am going to have some fun experiments with that one as well. If there is something you would like me to try with the C10 let me know and I would love to give it a try.

Most excellent information. You describe everything in great detail making it easy for us to understand. Have you ever looked into oxygen meters? I have a Smart Meter O2 monitor and I am confused as to what I am doing. Do you or any of your followers, know of a detailed operations manual for the Smart Meter AR8100? Any information would be great. Thanks. Stam Nice pics of Moto-cross bikes. I rode back when I was at Cal Poly in the motorcycle club, the 'PENGUIUNS'. back in the dark ages. Thanks again for your dedication to knowledge.

The photos are of a photoshoot I did covering a dirt bike race. It was a lot of fun, and I ended up with about 5,000 photos lol... Yes I do have a 02 meter, but not sure what to do for a video, so I would love to do a video to help, so anything you would like me to do using it, would be great. Just let me know what you would like me to do, and I will be happy to create a video for you. Thanks for the thumbs up - much appreciated.

For the last test to be even more obvious, i suggest you put CO sensor in worst ventilated part of the box. If it still the quickest to react, you would have a solid proof, that it is not just a case of it being forcefully blown clean by direct powerful stream of clean air. I doubt that it has anything to do with CO somehow clearing the room different than CO2. I believe, you get different reaction speeds, because there are differences in the ways of how sensors senses them. Most likely to sense CO is more straight forward process, due to it being more different from other surrounding gasses by its qualities to the sensor. But they clear the room at the same rate, just the process of registration has a bigger lag with CO2.
@Outside-In.
@Outside-In. Год назад
Thanks Stupid Genius for your comments and insight. The reason that I was talking about the CO meter reacting quicker is because if I walk into a room that has CO, it reacts to it within a couple seconds, and when I leave that room, it goes back to 0 within a couple seconds. I learned also that CO2 is heavier than other gasses resulting in it taking a longer time to clear the room. I do though like the fact that the Smart Sensor CO2 meter does respond pretty quickly, making it what you would want if checking and area for trouble spots. I agree also about the sensors, each manufacture uses different sensors, and every sensor is going to react and act differently than others will.
@mikevandebunt811
@mikevandebunt811 Год назад
The likely reason that CO2 is taking longer to clear out than CO is that CO2 is denser than air (so it is collecting in the bottom of the box). CO is the same density as air (contrary to common belief), so it clears out faster. That said, the sensors on your two detectors are near the top of the box, so there is a good chance that the sensors may actually be slower to react to a decrease than an increase.

Thank you Mike. The more I do this - the more I learn, and comments like yours help me in that endeavor, and your valuable input along with others will keep me going on - to make better and more informative videos. Life is about learning, and learning is about trial and error, and without trial and error - how will we ever learn?... I love to learn, so I guess that means allot of trial and error is in my future LOL :).

If you are non smoker, you feel way more lightheaded from trace nicotine in the air than CO. But CO and CO2/ or lack of oxygen obviously adds to it too.
@Outside-In.
@Outside-In. Год назад
I can see what you are saying about a non-smoker, but I would say also that anyone - even a non-smoker that is in a room of smokers and starts to get light-headed, something is definitely wrong (probably a combination of CO and CO2) and they should immediately seek a fresh environment for a moment to clear their head. In a heavily occupied building that has little ventilation - even if no one is smoking - there will be problems with people becoming light-headed due to CO2, but you make great points in both of your comments, and they are truly appreciated.

I do 3d printing...Im not worried about C02, just VOCs and particles. And I just want a rough idea, doesn't need to be spot on. What's the best cheap sensor I should buy? Thank you!
@Outside-In.
@Outside-In. 8 месяцев назад
Thank you Phil for the question. For VOC's, I would recommend the AirKnight or the TemTop M10. The Aliexpress monitor that I reviewed is allot more inexpensive, but also works great with other monitors that I have tested. The AirKnight is my favorite for readability. I am working on a new video right now focusing on the Dylos 1100 Pro Air Quality monitor, and should have that up sometime this morning. The Dylos is way more expensive, so the AirKnight, TemTop or even the Aliexpress monitor is probably going to be your best bet to choose from. I hope this helps, and thanks again for your question.

I LOVE to hear that Hotkrem makes a version with CO2 - love it. Please Please do you have a link, would love to check it out for sure. I unfortunately cannot recommend something that I have not physically tested, so YES, if I can get a hold of the Hotkrem with the CO2 sensor - I would love to make a video about it. Thanks Patt so much for the comment and recommendation of the Hotkrem with CO2 - beautiful. Hello Patt, just thought I would let you know that I just received the Hotkrem with CO2, and I will be doing a video comparison soon, but so far I can say that the Hotkrem is more accurate than the TemTop, so that is exciting to know that there is another affordable and accurate CO2 monitor on the market. I am really starting to love the Hotkrem products, as much as I love Smart Sensor products.

Hey RuudyL, I just saw your comment about the Smart Sensor CO2 meter for more than 400.00, and it is not here, but I will respond to that with a new comment LOL.. I contacted Smart Sensor about that one before, and they told me that there is another company in China that is making products and using their name, but they are doubling or tripling the prices, and unfortunately, there is no laws in China that protects them from that happening. So now when I find a product from Smart Sensor that is much more expensive than I think it should be, I make sure it is coming from the actual Smart Sensor Store-Front: www.aliexpress.com/store/1101543027?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.265ftzOjtzOjz3 You will find the Smart Sensor CO2 meter on this page: www.aliexpress.com/store/1101543027/pages/all-items.html?productGroupId=518294342&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.pcShopHead_6000092320900.1_2_2&storeId=1101543027&sortType=bestmatch_sort I am seeing that there are 2,596 units available for purchase.
