Brian for 56 years I loved and played the blues but I've been very versatile and have played almost every style of music.I have a library of open tuning I've collected and I love to spend time playing in open tunings discovering new tones, notes and ideas creating rhythm's and playing over them..I've spent a lot if years recording rhythms in standard tuning for my songs playing the second guitar parts and I've often use a open tuning to play over them I just completed a song that I had written years ago in the Double drop D tuning I used a D drone tuning DADDAD to play slide on the song that sings out to the heart. I love what you are teaching in this lesson the tones of the second guitar are beautiful over the rhythm, you've created a beautiful voice that sings out to the heart to learn and to enjoy.. In my home you're appreciated. very much for what you give in your music. Sing on my friend. Thank you.

It's 'complement', not 'compliment'. E. g., "You play well" is a compliment. "Our styles sound well together, we complement each other" illustrates the meaning and use of 'complement'. The easiest way to remember the distinction is, a complement almost always completes something, for that is the meaning of the word. You're an excellent instructor.

@@arlo2203 You may be a snoutband. I have no idea what you mean and care not to be enlightened. Addressing others in terms with which they are almost assuredly unfamiliar is neither felicitous nor desirable. I made the suggestion to inform, not to correct. Some even appreciate clarification. No one has a monopoly on usage, nor is a guardian. And no one cares for the ill mannered.

@@JESL_TheOnlyOne Your comments do nothing to 'complement' the lesson. How's that as an example?

Saw the triads as you were moving towards and playing through them, outlining the chords. Saw the harmonized 3rds and 5ths. Light bulb? More like lightning bolts going off and through my head. Thank you for your time and effort in making these lessons. They are helping me understand more and better about the connections that are available when playing and complementing another guitarist.

Great lesson! This would also sound good on electric with a little delay and reverb. And the sus chords are definitely handy is these situations. You can also find them in the other CAGED chord shapes. I pull them from the A shape as well.

Because this is about connecting to (complementing) the rhythm player vs just noodling over it. It is a lead guitar lesson, but it's about a specific concept.
