Honestly Brian, the way you explain and demonstrate concepts at just the right pace is second to none. We are all so fortunate to have access to such excellent teaching. Thank you.

As someone that had to self taught himself this tou managed to connect all the missing dots. One of the best guitar teaching I’ve seen in a very long time. I’ve been playing for over 15 years now and am moving towards advanced now that I’m 25 and this is the one thing I’d advise any player to know and have as a tool. Thank you

Most RU-vid guitar teachers don’t give this type of stuff away for free. Mastering the chord tones within each of the changes of a progression and how those tones relate and guide each other is where it’s at. Music is for the ear.

That's very true! I watched a "short" the other day by someone who does ridiculous videos! That guy never gives ANYthing away! This "short" explained WHY he teaches finger strength building exercises (for guitar), but stopped short of demonstrating even a single exercise! I thought, "What's the point?!" And I had to comment on how useless the video was! Me? I can figure out my own strength building exercises, just as I have for every muscle in my body, for my whole life, lol. Yep. Brian knows he can give things away for free, without jeopardizing HIS OWN value! (Most ppl are disgusted by "teachers" who NEVER give ANYthing away, no matter how small. Those are not actual "teachers," who want you to pay richly for any little tidbit. They're also not very good at it, even if they can play well (or think they can.))

(7:01) "Arpeggio" (pron. "Arp-edge-o" - 3 syllables, btw - the 'i' is silent: it's there to turn the 'g' into a 'j') literally means 'harp-like.' 🙂

This was a really wonderful way to hear and see the chord tones like a perfect pace to make the connection of seeing and hearing. It’s hard to describe but as a student I’ve heard it explained well and demonstrated well but this is better. Now I’m going watch it ten more times so I can finally make a nice complete solo instead of just cool stuff over the 1 chord. Lol thank you !

I’ve been doing your 2 chord minor blues exercise - alternating chords and licks over Em and Am. Great exercise for so many things. It soon emerged that E licks landing on E and vice versa makes a big difference. I wish I’d learned that easy exercise long ago.

I would be very interested if you put together a mini course on landing on the chords when leading. It continues to elude me. I have watched and worked at the videos relevant to that concept. I don’t know why but not yet. Perhaps I need a more methodical and very clear path of practice. I wonder Brian if you would take a couple students who don’t know how to do that and walk them through over time some instruction until they achieve it and see what it actually takes for them to learn how to land on the chords when leading, and then translate that to a mini course. I would be very happy if it worked and I would certainly pay for it. I have played rhythm guitar for decades and I’ve learned to get around the fretboard on the Pentatonics but I am not landing on the chord changes. I have been a subscribing member of active melody at various times over the past five years. It’s probably just me and something I’m not doing right with practice but maybe that’s the point. To figure out what it is to do during practice in a more clear path that may open this up for myself and possibly many others. No disrespect intended I love the videos obviously and also appreciate the advancements that Brian has been making in the look of the videos and all the backing track work. Thanks for considering it. Bob

Depends, if you want to add that blues spice to it while using major pentatonic, you can use the 7, if not, just stick to the 1 and 3. Or try landing on the 6 (also a good note for major).
