I think a very narrow cabinet next to the couch could be a good addition. It could fill up that tiny gap, be used to store dinner table accessories, and the person sitting in the edge seat could rest their drink on top too.
Styling certain things really makes such a difference because while I loved the lamp that Rachael made for you, I thought the square base looked kind of off compared to the rest of the piece, but the way you styled it on the windowsill with the books actually looks so good!
@UC8pSs_pTdy3xfydsBx_3a-w I know you don't mean the first comment lol. Thanks for the heads up that stooopid scammers are posting comments. I am reporting any I see (the joys of being retired 😂)
I have been longing for a round dining table and decided I'm gonna have to make it myself. You just have me the absolute perfect idea....I cannot thank you enough for this video
I absolutely love it!!! I was a teenager in the 70's decade. It reminds me of everything that is the 70's. Especially that sofa. I love everything about your breakfast nook.
Honestly, I was not feeling the first part (BIG SOFA) but with you guys I have learned to trust the process; I loved it!!! I just want to sit in the conner with a coffee and a book. I just forget about the laundry and the kitchen. LOVE IT!!!!
Honestly loving the space, the 70’s style is really appealing to me more and more. So many funky cool pieces, that lighting is amazing, I love how it feels almost like a booth or a diner
That light fixture is perfect for your breakfast nook - it absolutely has the right retro vibes, and as I was born in 1960, I should know. 😉😊👍 I really enjoy seeing the 70’s reimagined through your decor. ❤️
I’d personally add a wooden top on the back of the couch connecting to the wall and on either end of the couch to make it look like it’s a full built in booth.
I love how personal and thoroughly 70’s this room feels. Becky is inspireingly true to her own taste. The form and colors of the furniture, not to mention the orange globe light, is gorgeous. But I would have chosen finishing touches that challenged, contrasted og therefore enhances the brown/Yellow/orange color scheme: pink and blue. And more and bigger plants.
Love the space, table and white chairs..but I cant get over the sofa, it just looks too dingy! Have you thought of maybe changing the fabric, love the velvet just maybe a dark green or something.Anyways, can't wait to see more, love your house and your style. Buying a house in a few months and I've been looking into the 70's architectural style .❤
You should have made some vertical cuts on the playwood, so it would bend naturally. The table top is too small for the amount of seating places. To make it easier to go around in that room, you should have put the couch under the other window. So that you didn’t cut the nook in a half, you could easily seat on the couch without going around the table and the chairs. The chairs are a bit heavy on the space, but it’s your house 😆
Love it! That light fixture just finished the space so perfectly! Your table turned out great. In future, something else you might consider is using wood pole wrap around the table base. It wraps around really easily and can also be stained. So if you ever tire of the "ugly side" of the base (haha, I love it when really skilled and talented DIYers try new things and acknowledge that it's not perfect) you could try replacing the plywood with pole wrap. But really, that table turned out beautiful! I would love to sit down in that nook and have a coffee and chat! :)
The platform of the bed should have been extended to the wall and it creates a lil space for a floor lamp or a big plant or something, it would look so much more built in and that the couch is made for that spot. Bc there’s just a lil gap and it’s weird
I was prepared not to like it, but it is really a wonderful makeover. The table is gorgeous. It looks so comfortable and will be wonderful to entertain in this space. Congratulations on the great new space!
I was cuddled up with my partner and they kept shouting steam it! I initially thought you were going to upcycle an industrial spool. My parents had a couple of the 1 foot tall industrial spools, 1 propped up a huge speaker, the other was used as a stool to sit at my little tikes picnic table with me, and I would roll around on it when I could fit in between the circles. It is a little "Industrial" but I bet you could make it work. I also thought you might go with tambour because it's a regular in your content.
I think there is missing something, maybe a floral wall paper and some picture frames would complement the vide of the vintage that you’re looking for.
I almost feel like you could have created an "armrest" for the middle of the sofa out of the same material the base was made of just to make it wide enough to go from wall to wall. You could have just stained it and it would have not only widened it but made it a bit more comfortable for the person sitting in the corner! It turned out great overall but this added touch could be nice!
I am old enough to remember the 70's didn't like it then so this is not my thing but having said that I am impressed with trying to only use thrifted fines that is my thing.
Is it just me or has the Sorry GirlS been drifting towards the sorry girl_, with only one host in each video. I miss the days of, "I'm Kelsey and I'm Becky and we're the Sorry Girls" But also I am loving what you are doing with this dining room!
I feel like you could've built in a side tabe/shelf in the corner between the couch and the wall. Maybe with some plants or a lamp on it. That way it would look even more built in! :)
I was thinking the same, but like a wraparound shelf around all the back cushions with a neatly finished gap where the window is- that would center the banquette seating and create a nice ledge all around :)
I’ve realized, thanks to Team TSG, I don’t have to like the same styles that you all like, but I am constantly blown away by the courage and confidence you have in tackling new projects. I love these videos!
My toddler thought it was HILARIOUS that Becky was sitting on the table! Because he’s not allowed to sit on our table lol 😂 He’s been talking about it for the past 2 hours.
The first thing I did back when I got my own home was to drift an old solid table that I could sit on. And so I did. Because I wasn't allowed either. I sat often sat on that table. LOL.
Absolutely fabulous! I would suggest putting felt under the concrete base to protect your floors. Some cord covers for the sconces would look nice. I wonder if you could make some cool ones with wood trim? It's so wonderful to see a fun and colorful makeover!
I`m still not sold on the sofa, but everything else is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! The table looks very chic and that chandelier, OMG! And the chairs are really amazing
The sofa needs a a complete makeover in my opinion. I would flip the sides and have the longer side against the wall, as I really don't like sofas covering windows. In that way a third chair could fit against the window. Reupholster for sure.
Water! Water on flexi-form/ veneer helps it bend. Then let it air dry or in front of a heater. It should hold its form. You can also buy the thin sheets of wood that make up flexi-form to make your own ply by layering up in the shape. It gets super study that way too
On this note, I think a steamer would've been a big help! It helps to dampen and heat the wood without adding too much moisture. Love the table outcome though! ♥️
I like the concept but the couch just looks to worn and scratched. I thought you were maybe going to restore the couch because other than that it literally looks like an old sofa in the kitchen which I mean doesn’t sound great. The decor on point concept was there and the table looks great but overall execution was meh
Every time there is a new video about this house I'm so excited and then twenty minutes later I'm sad that it's already over and I'm gonna have to wait a couple of weeks for the next one. This really is my favorite series you've ever done! The house has such good vibes!!
For some reason I thought that Becky would kind of "revamp" the sofa. Like give it a good clean, fix the torn material, maybe make new cushion covers but keep the same pattern. Overall the makeover looks great and suits your home.
The whole look is very cute I just can’t get over the super worn out couch cushions. The perfectionist in me couldn’t handle it LOL I get that it’s a “vibe” but I’d have to custom design new fabric and reupholster. The chairs are great tho!
Hi Becy, I liked your work. I would like the sofa to fit perfectly in the space. Think of a solution, like separating and leaning both parts against the wall, the small space left in the middle could be filled with a wooden structure covered with matching fabric or just wood. It's just an idea.❤🇧🇷
Would love to know how you cleaned the couch/any tips as that is always my struggle with FB marketplace! and LOVE how it all looks together - the colors are amazing!
Love this breakfast nook. The table turned out amazing. The one thing that bothers me a lot is a gap between the couch and the wall. I would make a console table to feel that gap if it is not possible to put a couch in the centre of the space.
Never in my life would I have thought to use a sectional for my dining room but this all turned out AMAZING! The table, lights, and decor pull it all together so well. Could be straight out of a vintage magazine.
I love it! The table turned out soooooo good! And the table really helps to tie everything else together. I'd love to see a shag rug under there, but i understand why that might not be appealing in a dining nook. 😅💜
Table=awesome, chairs=very cool, lights=chiefs kisd, couch=hell to the No! You will replace the couch or recover it with in a year or two. That material with soak up everything you spill and every smell from cooking. I love your design ideas yet missed the mark for me on couch. Maybe I'm wrong(I'll admit it after two years and you still have and love it)
I think covering one of the bay windows with the couch is such a pity! It took away some of the depth the window gave to the room and now it look smaller and a bit cluttered, I think the couch takes up too much volume in the space. I love the style and colors but I think the couch should be swapped for something less spacious.
Personally I think the table is too small for all the seats, how would you comfortably fit enough plates, cups and anything else on the table and how I wish the couch reached to the edge of the wall.. I think if you love it that’s of course all that matters though 😊
The stile is good, but I am worried about that texile couch. If its that old what about bugs? How did you clean it? If it was small you could wash it but that big of a furniture...
Becky, the table turned out SO WELL! Good job, lady! In other business, I have a hot tip for you that will help hide some of the wear on the couch fabric cushions. Find a matching Sharpie marker and draw little dots on the bald spots. I'm a sewist, and I use Sharpies to color white elastic and white thread when it shows through seams. Fast and permanent!
