Hi Devin, I love your videos. You give genuine and easy to follow language and have a great personality. A question, Can I plant and sustain a healthy Hydrangea in a pot? I live in Delaware, and we generally have mild winters, but I am installing a shed with large windows to use as a sort of winter greenhouse. Any advice? Thanks for all the wonderful and informative education.

Hi. Yes you absolutely can, just ensure that it is in a pretty sunny location and trim back any weak or floppy growth

Love these plants, we are planning to put in a few this year. Was wondering if you've ever done Texas Sage. We saw them at our local home depot and would love to plant them but we are a bit confused if they will survive. The worker there said they are hardy to zone 4 which we are in Minnesota but research I get some say only zone 8 and some say zone 4.
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations 2 года назад
Macrophylla should typically be Hardy to zone 5. Zone 4 would be pushing it. I would opt for a hydrangea paniculata as they’re much hardierp

I'm a new subscriber and new to hydrangeas. I really love your channel! Great advice!! I live in the zone 7a, and I just planted a big leaf hydrangea first week in June. The hydrangea I got from the nursery already has lots of blooms. It is so beautiful!! I read one of your comments saying that one would need to water the hydrangea more often if blooms are not cut off at the early stage of planting. Since I planted it facing the south side of the house, it gets hot in the afternoon between 1:00 and 4:00. I water the plant early in the morning and early evening. Should I water one more time in the afternoon, say 3ish to help with the heat and not cutting off the blooms? Thanks!
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! They will get very wilted if overly dry, so just watch your plants and let them tell you if they need more water - they bounce back we’ll from the wilt. You will quickly learn how much water they’ll need. But you don’t want to let them get wilted too often bc too much undue stress is never good

@@plantvibrations Due to the heat wave this week, I believe the flowers have dried up quite a bit. Should I prune them? I have Endless summer hydrangeas, I understand that they grow on both new and old woods. Do I understand correctly? From some videos I watched, is it really ok to prune until the last day of July? I'm worried to do anything harmful to my new plant. Thank you so much for your reply!

I am about to plant flowers for the first time in my garden and have watched many videos. I have hydrangea macrophyllas and was wondering if o plant them in June do I need to cut all the flowers off or is this a suggestion for earlier months only?
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations 3 года назад
Hi Lexi, try to get them in as soon as possible. the warmer the weather the harder it is for the plants to acclimate to their new surrounding with the least amount of stress. you don't have to cut the flowers off, but you will likely have to water more frequently and the plant won't create as vigorous of a root system initially.

I planted a Mathilda Gutges in a container last year and it did fine, but the blooms went from purplish to green after a few months...is that normal? It didn't seem to be end of season for the plant, but the blooms definitely went green. I'm just now seeing some buds/new growth starting now that we have officially started spring so I'm curious to see what it looks like.

It’s likely the soil you planted it into had a different pH from the soil the growers used

It’s late May here in NB, Canada and I have two macrophyla and I need to move them. Is it too late? One has a leaf or two, the other has more leaves. I pruned them hard😩. I’m worried 😢.
