I'm excited as hell, this is so cool! I will be swapping my e28 soon that currently has an m30b25 to m30b35 (early 735i with the right mounting bosses). I love the m30 engines they are so fun. Can't wait for the next episode! Best of luck, greetings from Finland.
I was going to comment something similar! I have a m20b20 and i want to do this exact same swap. Eager to see this progress and I am glad he kept his promise for working on this build.
You sir are a legend. I’ve been emailing Rama about putting the RHD ITBs in my M30B35 powered E30. This video series will make things so much more accessible! Thanks!
Bruh, this channel is a godsend. I have an 87 535is with a botched M30B35 swap. I'm far more motivated to get surgical and pull this thing apart, and rebuild it into the masterpiece it deserves to be. I've watched all your vids on this build so far (backwards). I'm following your channel and plan to buy a piece of merch to support. Much appreciated.
Def tapped into this build; haven't seen much coverage on in-depth M30 swaps since S/M5Xs are more popular. Currently doing this swap in my E30, I would suggest if you don't already know that you'll need a e28 535 radiator because the M20 Radiators have different inlet and outlets than the M30 ones do.
I can’t wait for this build!!!! I’ve been wanting to do the same itb and clutch and pretty much everything you’re doing on my e34 535i and I didn’t know what all I needed. Keep up the hard work!!
Should be a pretty cool build and sound like an s38.I plan on going microsquirt or megasquirt on my E34 535i soon so I'll be following up since I only see people use them in turbo applications mainly. My 533i is converted to motronic 1.3 so it'll probably follow suit later on
DUDE! I SUBSCRIBED, I Will follow this e28 build into the depths of HELL if i have too! I'm e28 owner (535 royalblau on llama)/ enthusiast , I believe when judgement day comes all that will be left on this planet are cockroaches and M30 engines. Love the N/A approach. Any chance you can squeeze the budget and do an Schrick 284 Cam before it all goes back in the engine bay??? also what are we bolting to those headers?? IE Stainless? full stainless man!!! LFG !! Im stoked to watch this come together!
Thank you man!!! Believe it or not yesterday I was just pondering a schrick 284! We mayyy be adding that😉. And yup itll be a full stainless exhaust when done!
You could clear coat thoes vapor honed pieces. Keep them nice forever. I have a g260 out of a diesel 524 collecting dust. Not sure what its good for , Having a few spare zf320s.
Yes I believe so as the pans are set up to fit within different subframes so are visually very different. I have heard that oil pumps set up may be different as well due to space in pans, its been a long time but I think some parts from old and new pumps combine to fit??? Let us know when you get that far
I’ve scooped a e34 535i and wanna chuck the engine and box into my 86 e24! i’m trying to see if you have a link to this diagram you speak of to splice the harnesses? Thanks! fantastic videos!
@@m3nameisjosh464 I know for a fact that in europe we had the M 535. I know a dude that has two of them. And one of the latest videos by Ammo he washed a 535i in the US. So there should be 535’s in the US too.
@@m3nameisjosh464 All i can find is the m30b34 or b35 all had the same displacement of 3430cc making, at most 218hp in the m535i version. How much hp does the b35 in the US make at most?
I have the Schmiedmann headers on my M52b28 e46 and id say theyre a really good bang for the buck option. But i too had to grind down a tap on the transmission idk whats up with them and not clearing transmissions seems a bit personal tho
👌🏻 Prima parts. Coooool😎 When mapping time comes, I recommend going with alpha-n. At least that's what I ended up with. The manifold air pressure was way to "jumpy" and non-linear with the itb's as to be used as a solid VE reference.
Hey bro I've been subscribed for a while and I watch all your videos. I think what you do with these 80s-90s BMWs is amazing. You inspired me to buy an e34 535i and after the relatively simple sorting, it was one of the most incredible cars I have ever owned. Keep it up!
Hey Josh, I'm super stoked to be following along with this M30 build! have you had any success with adjusting the play out of the steering box on any of these BMWs while maintaining good return to center characteristics? I cant seem to get it right with my E34, everything else up front is brand new.
I don’t ever mess with the boxes because more times then not, people over adjust them and ruin them and then things get even worse. My 256k mile calypso has about as much steering play as a school bus, and I just accept it😭🤣
Really looking forward to the upcoming episodes! I was also planning on getting the RHD kit for my project e34 but ended up with rb25 ones just because they cost me only a fraction of the rhd kit. Might not be the most straight forward installation but we'll get there.💪
