I love that your breakdowns include a translation to old school Choir and Classical terminology like "vowels & formants" because I think what a lot of people don't realize is that they use all these modes naturally but forget to while singing. I've been saying for about a year now that vowels really need to be fundamentally taught as rigorously as we do pitch and breathing because it seems like it's the most overlooked facet in singing that's a huge impediment to many singers.

I like to say that singing technique is at least 50% about vowels.

Thanks for another very helpful video. Would you say that the tug/ firming up of the voice you describe at around 02:50 can be conceptualized as an unintentional change from full density Overdrive to reduced Overdrive (some restraint/ hold kicking in)?
@VoiceStudioEast
@VoiceStudioEast 18 дней назад
There's a hold kicking in, yes, but it doesn't go to reduced density, because the hold coincides with a kind of forcefulness that pushes it into FD anyway.

@@VoiceStudioEast Wow, I didn´t know that was possible. I´d love to see a video on the different degrees of "the hold". :)

Great video! One of the things that I've noticed with Overdrive is that there can be a tendency to over-darken the "oh" vowel to a "ooh", at which point it becomes difficult to sustain the yell timbre. Unintentionally over-darkening my vowels is something that I try to be aware of.
@VoiceStudioEast
@VoiceStudioEast 9 месяцев назад
Overdarkening in this sense is related to the attempt to take cavernous timbres too high in pitch in Overdrive
@DebEternity
@DebEternity 9 месяцев назад
@@VoiceStudioEast That's a good point! One might do it (intentionally or unintentionally) to sound more "manly", which is likely a part of the cavernous sound quality.

Does it mean that specific vowel sounds can also be the determining factor in choosing which vocal mode to sing on? like for example, words with narrower vowels like "skin" which highlights the quality of the Edge mode be pronounced as "sken" to transition into an Overdrive?

Yes, absolutely :)

i do overdrive exercise and i don't know where my larynx should be😢 the CVT says there's a range for laryngeal positions ,but Each note has a position for each note,My throat can go up about a centimeter, and I can go up when I sing middle, and I can go up when I sing high, but only by that centimeter. Sometimes the middle register and the high register are in the same place, so I get confused, how do I move my throat, and I just know that the pitch goes up and the throat goes up, but I often feel like I'm already high, but I can't sing it before it's really high.

You may find it helpful to watchm y resonance series, or at least the first video in it. Overdrive relies on tuning the first resonant frequency of the vocal tract to the octave overtone. This is done mainly by moving the larynx and the mouth. Thus, the less open your mouth is, the higher your larynx has to be. it varies by pitch though because it needs to track with the octave overtone. This means you should be gradually raising your larynx and opening your mouth as you go up in pitch in Overdrive. There is no trick to it really, you just gotta experiment and get a feel for it.

Do you think about make a video courses? I need this
@VoiceStudioEast

After the CVT series is finished, I will make some videos explaining my own conception of vocal registers, and then after that I will begin making a kind of video course. I have three planned, one for beginners, one for intermediates, and one for advanced singers.

@@VoiceStudioEast CVT talk about support value.When people talk to me about increasing support, what do they usually mean?more support more pressure?😂sorry im poor in English😫😫
@VoiceStudioEast
@VoiceStudioEast 9 месяцев назад
When they speak of "more resistance in the support", they mean stronger vocal fold closure and more pressure. When they speak of "more movement in the support", they mean more pressure and flow together, which cannot be adjusted independently in the respiratory system alone. You might want to check my video on breath suppot for more information on this topic.
