bruce is a hard working smart young man that has a lot to learn and hes learning .he does a lot more work then all you keyboard warriors that love to leave negative comments about his work. hes works in things and films it so we can watch it sounds like a good plan to me! . good job bruce! i like your videos and i dont leave negative comments! oh and by the way i am a carrer heavy duty mechanic! . so keep on keeping on! 💪
Frank Leonard Bruce doesn’t know anything about Diesel engines! He should leave it to someone that knows.. before he pops a good engine, he’s good at making them look pretty.. I hope doesn’t just bolt on jake boxs and not adjust and also put the o rings in between the jake box’s... but the 6v92 will be fun if he fucks with the fuel rack haha
Bruce, get yourself a big white-board up on the wall in the shop. Write your jobs on the board and cross them off as you get them done - it helps to see all the jobs and stops filling your head up with rubbish. Keeps things tidy! It works for me, maybe it’ll work for you too. Keep the content coming chap! 👍🏼
A engine hoist always a go to for getting a 5th wheel lifted off the frame to slide it back and allows for a clean up and paint job on the frame. Then again bars work well too.
I said it before and I will say it again don't let the bad people kill the fun. This channel is about your life and what YOU want to do every day. Have fun and keep on trucking.
However when 10% know what they are talking about, 20% know about it, 70% are clueless and he does the entire opposite being wrong. Ya, thats what everyone is poking at. Think people are going to subscribe? No, they wont. They will come back to see what he has sold and bought. What has been destroyed and what blew up.
@ Yea they move mine to.. Along with alot more.. Truth hurts the troll family.. Thats ok I can keep this up forever.. If they stupid enough to make videos then they better have thick skin..
Diesel Delivery why seek out info from the manufacturer when you can get someone’s opinion who you never met and have zero knowledge on their background.
Take fifth wheen frame off completely. Disc sand rust off both sides then coat both affected rails and fifth wheel frame with rust converter. That fifth wheel frame previously running over the area of where the chassis rails were extended may have been put there intentionally to add extra support to strengthen that specific joint. It may be a good idea to extend both angle lines to a length that supports both joints once again. It will be heaps more stronger than how you have made it now at least it will be as strong as it was before you tampered with it !!!
Bruce you might want to find a air assist cab jack. I had one on my cab over when I first started driving. I cant remember what year it was though. It would make tilting the cab so much easier.
Well ! It's seems to me your wanting this done , good and I'm glad your into this . Hope you figure out the Jake brake on this , would love to hear the sound of it. I'll wait for your other projects , one step at a time .
Your firing order on a 60 series is 153624 it has to equal to 7 so for example you would do number 1 valves number 6 injector 5 valves 2 inj 3 valves 4 inj 6 valves 1 inj 2 valves 5 inj 4 valves 3 inj it’s vary simple
yeah your right on those bolt holes make sure you have spacers so the jakes dont hit the rockers and those wires go back on top but you gotta make sure you put them on in order it should say first or second.
Buy the shop manuals for that engine and for that model Freightshaker. I have done that with every truck I've owned since 1994, money well spent. It pays for itself in a short time. Heck, you can get them on a CD and print out what you need from it.
Good video brother! I ain't never been a hater because I do a little bit of work on something and someone comes along and ruins my plans by offering a price I can't turn down. I only keep my tools, race trailer, 88 Monte SS/street driven drag car, and my truck to pull and everything else has a price on it. Old blue is looking good and gonna be a nice ride for you guys.
TwinStick Garage I have no experience with big trucks, but the only thing I can think of is I believe where they bought it, it was only used in that town and perhaps jakes weren’t allowed due to ordinances.
if you ever wondered what the inside of a locomotive diesel engine looks like, its almost identical except on a massive scale. those injectors are mechanically fired. you also need an injector tool to set the injectors, looks like a small pick tool. very interesting and good engines.
Advisory. Cut two bits of angle join to the 5th wheel angle to cover the exposed Join Then then you have Protected the other weld-on stretch. you have increased the pressure on the join Must Be compensated For. Zinc coat the welded area.
We get this stuff called copper 2 preservative that we do our low bed and gooseneck with every like 3 to 5 years super easy to apply 50/50 mix with water and spray it on with a garden sprayer i can do both trailers in about half hour our gooseneck is a 1996 and all original decking check it out if you can find it comes in clear green and brown
Cam controls timing and creates the pressure when the injector solenoid is closed. The longer the solenoid is closed, the more fuel is injected. To some degree, the computer can control timing as well. Newer big Cats and big electronic Cummins use a similar system. The DD15 finally got Common Rail. Have you considered decking the frame all the way to the 5th wheel?
Not to be negative but with all the money you have put out on this,You could have bought a brand new slider to put on this truck, and If i'm not mistaken the junk yard you were at yesterday had a few used one's ? and it's called a shop manual when you don't know what you are doing. Or hire someone to do it. But I guess that keeps us watching
Hes to stupid to understand any manual.. And to stupid to YES put a damn sliding.5th wheel on.. But I have to give him credit hes damn good at being stupid..
A lot of guys with stretched trucks move the mounting location of the air lines and power cord further back on the frame. Longer lines and cord are more likely to get caught on something while turning
Bruce another great video just letting you know that the injectors are in fact mechanically activated but they are electronically metered which is why there are wires running to the injectors.
Can't wait for your next will it start!!! Trailer looks great And the blue semi is coming along nicely! I like it...You're getting stuff done! God bless!
Used engine oil contains large amounts of sulfur which causes damage to wooden parts. The second negative is that it dirty everything for a long time, especially when the sun warms it. A good wood impregnation will do the trick and give a nice effect. greetings
Warren from western truck and tractor is your man on Detroits or pretty much anything for that matter, he’s extremely knowledgeable on pretty much anything you can think of.
Let me get this right. You buy a trailer with the king pin set up for a single axle tractor. So you move the 5th wheel back to accommodate the trailer, that now you are selling because it's too short. Going to a 48'er means you could have left the 5th wheel where it was. Just maybe you need to think your projects through instead of doing them on the fly.
What would be cool is if u attach a large enclose section at the back of the blue truck where you could add a bed or jus set it up for carrying your tools for the flatty.....the stretch chassis looks like wasted space that could be utilize
Hey Bruce next time u go to the truck graveyard again could u see if they have any pete 352 cabovers,or kenworth k100 or 123. But blue collar is turning out good. Cabover trucks is where it is anymore as far as restorations.
So many haters on finishing one project. Screw them dude. The multiple different projects is great content. Boomers don’t know how to multitask I guess. Keep up the great vids man.
Scott the bus grease monkey can help you Detroit is his special ability he is gifted Detroit guy. He is good at those engines. Tuning and adjustments and rebuilds.
There is an offset idler pulley kit available for the AC belt/pulley but you'll have to buy a longer belt to use with it. It will allow at least another 2/3 surface contact on the compressor pulley by pulling the belt angle back upwards on the bottom side. If you can't find the kit you can make one.
I think you were maybe swinging into landing gear of trailers set up for single axle tractors, i.e pup trailers.... maybe not, that 5th was where it was because it probably worked with 48' and 53' trls...just an idea
It had been stretched, had a PTO added, and was dedicated to a bulk cement tank trailer that set way back. That tractor has not been hooked to a regular trailer for many years.
Try to flush out the solenoids to make sure there's no trash in them check all the solenoid spring to make sure you don't have a broke one jake brakes on the series 60 sometimes get oil on the connectors and they lose connection intermittently
Now that you gave so much space. Between the fuel tanks and the rear tandems you can put youa nice polished aluminum side box on it for tools and chains for tie downs
You need to swap out that transmission to get those higher speeds. Either a 13spd or 15spd. Find out your rear end ratios. Juice'in up the engine not going to get you speed only power.
Nowhere in the entire video did he talk about speed. A jake is the exhaust brake which he is wanting to put back on after the pervious owner removed it. Truck is fine and just need to be left alone. Just do whatever maintenance which he should take to a mechanic who knows these engines well. Just ask to shadow him without a camera in his face.
Great video Bruce. Glad to see projects coming along well and they are turning out very nicely. Just curious to see where u will, keep, these finished projets, especially the trucks. U,should get the space next to you and keep these beautiful trucks inside out of the elements. Keep,up,the awesome work man!!
Everything is fine except you still have the stacks mounted on the headache rack. Go back to the junkyard and get the right exhaust mounts off of one of the other Freightliner Cabovers. Make it right.
If he loses one or both of them, he might finally do it. That's the problem with having so much on the go all at once, he can't bring anything to completion.
Tearing into another good running engine, just like the first cabover engine a decent running engine now sits in the corner in piece's why he tore it apart baffle's me? He needs to double frame that Air Force Cabover like the Freightliner.
Yep, I agree. I'm a 30yr hvy haul mechanic that thought it would be fun to watch and maybe help. Turns out he doesn't listen. It is too much of a cringe factor now. If he ever crosses paths with the right DOT officer, he's fried.
If you have money, you can fuck things up and don’t have to worry cause these trucks won’t leave the yard! Somebody with knowledge won’t ever buy them from him if he sees on RU-vid what they did to it!
@@bojanglesthewizard8875 😉 keeping it original when it was an option back in the day. Plus he wants to add performance parts. Unless he got rid of the donor truck, he could still do the swap. That or visit the junkyard buddy and get one there. Anyhoo, fun watch Bruce go
If I wanted “Blue Collar” to rise to show truck heights I would: 1)Paint the frame blue to match the cab 2)Put blue full tear drop fenders on rear 3)Deck the frame with aluminum tread plate 4)Put stainless tool boxes on each side 5)Have a stainless 5th wheel cover 6)Light bars on back and under in front of drivers I wish I could draw you pictures but check around, there are plenty of rigs looking awesome Kudos on improving presentation, completing project, and respecting viewers
Bruce run hard lines for your airlines down the frame rail and put pogo stick closer to fifth wheel and extend the electrical the same way that makes it look better you could run them to the back of the frame to make it come up under the trailer and fix your trailer lines the same keeps every thing out of sight ask the guy at the truck junk yard about it
Hey Bruce I know a lot of these guy are being jerks calling you a clown and such but you're learning and not just guessing. I appreciate the hard work, a lot of us do, its just most of us don't comment. Keep up the hard work and can't wait to see the Flatty!
Those injectors are a electronically controlled, mechanically actuated injector. Meaning the injector is still mechanical fired, but the amount of fuel is electronically controlled by the solenoid on the injector
Let me help you! I worked Into difference in semi shops And I have driven semi trucks and motorcoach Buses! And from experience mechanic Told me one time the series 60 Detroit engine does not need the valves adjusted every hundred thousand miles like some other diesel engines. He worked for us as a contract mechanic and said everyone he took apart to adjust the valves did not need it. Series 60 Detroit motors other than a few you turbo issues In 1999 and year 2000. The Series 60 Detroit Until they did the emissions change Was a bullet proof engine. You should not need to do any major work including adjusting the valves just change the oil and drive it
