I’ve always been told to keep the sternum over, or in front of the ball, but it hasn’t been working, as well as I would like. I’ll try this.Thanks,Paul

A very useful video. I’ve just come back from the range and wish I’d seen this video beforehand. I have been making the mistake of having the ball at the back in my stance and I’ve been staying back instead of covering the ball at impact. Thanks Kerrod - Keep the great instruction coming.

First time I have heard someone talk about centering the ball between the sternum and pelvis. You say the hips are open, but what about the shoulders ? They look square. You you still bowing the wrist ?

“Come up and out of it” ... that’s ME! My last thought before I start my swing needs to be “Cover the ball!” I was told once to keep my head behind the ball. When I do that I come out of it. When I try to get my hands ahead of the ball at impact (cover it), my head moves ahead of the ball (thus, steep). This is my dilemma.

That's a nice idea, but unfortunately completely wrong. Although this guy believes he's swinging toward the target he is not! He's learned that in order to get the ball to fly toward the target he HAS TO SWING TOWARD THE TARGET LINE AND NOT THE TARGET. The problem with all golf instruction is that people talk about what they think they're doing but they're actually not. This is proven. Anyone who has learned to hit a golf ball well is NOT SWINGING TOWARD THE TARGET as this person advocates. He's swinging toward the target line even though he doesn't know it. He's learned to do this as has anyone who's gotten good at golf and that's why telling people to do what you think you're doing doesn't work. You have to understand what it is actually happening and not what you think is happening.

The average person, for whom this is obviously made, will be able to understand the concept despite the wording. The average person doesn't need a scientist/physicist/bio-mech engineer to explain things to them. They want simple. You and your target vs. target line is confusing for people who are beginners or who are just trying to hit the ball straight.

@@kerrodgraygolf Really? My previous reply was too clear and simple, you deleted it? Confusing people is not a way to teach golf. It's a way to make money but not cool. People just want to hit the ball well and they're expecting you to tell them how. People aren't as stupid as you think. The simplest question that no one asks and no one (other than me) answers is, "WHAT DIRECTION DO I SWING?" Once you understand this, golf is easy.
