Which is better for your system, High Airflow fans or High static Pressure fans? Now, like a lot of things, it depends. That’s why I’m here to help you all learn when and or where these fans should be used. Let’s get in to this.
What’s up everyone, Erik here and welcome to Hardware For Gamers. I will be using in all my demonstrates today these Arctic Bionix fans. Now this is for a few reasons. First, Arctic was kind enough to sent over these fans to help me explain all of this. Second, I like that Arctic clearly indicates which fans are High Airflow and which fans are High static Pressure, with there F and P series. F for flow and P for Pressure. the third reason Arctic makes good fans… and I have testing to back that up.

Perfect! I'm still confused lol. But have some more clarity on choosing which fans to buy for different mounting points and variable approximate conditions. Pretty cool either way that they have different blade styles for different environment variables. Thanks!

It really depends on the case you have or want to go with on what fans make the most sense. Most mesh front panels will work best with air flow fans, but not all do. The dust filters can sometimes act like a solid panel (this is typically in older case). Just to make things more confusing.

Hey, i have the focus G case, It comes with the 2 intakes as default and i bought 2 noctua fans 120mm, one is the airflow optimised and the other is pressure optimized. How should i place all 4 fans in this case?
@HardwareForGamers
@HardwareForGamers 2 года назад
The airflow optimize should go at the back, the pressure optimizer should probably go along the top, and the front two fans that come stock are decent fans, so you can just leave them at the front.

I need a bit of help I do have a macube 310, and it has a mesh in the top of the case and front, which it has small holes for for airflow, for this reason I was wondering If should go with air pressure? And last question, Is it better to put in that case a front 360mm radiator ? as It cannot be mounted in the top, in case of adding a 360mm radiator in the front, would be a good Idea to put 2 big 140mm or another 3x 120mm in the top of the case as exhaust but static pressure? Thanks again and sorry for multiple questions 😥 PS: I do have i5 12400f cpu and I'm moving on to get a 3070-3080 rtx.

I would not recommend having an AIO on the front of that case. I would recommend pressure optimized fans at the front and a good air cooler like the Assassin king 120 SE.

@@HardwareForGamers Oh woah thanks for your comment. A question is pressure optimized fans the same than static pressure or is it different? I'm still very noob at fans ^^. So then 3 120mm optimized fans in front? for the cpu a: Assassin king 120 SE. And for the top of this case would you also recommend putting either 2 140mm fans or 3x 120mm fans as exhaust? and if so again pressure optimized fans or Airflow? as this case you can remove the mech in the top it has small holes. ty again

Not sure, the Core V21 is a nice case, but it does have some issues. I really like the 4000D airflow and the Lancool II mesh, however to get the Lancool II mesh the way I like it twice the price of the 4000D.

Why does no arctic high airflow fans have any a-rgb on them ? If your going to make a static pressure fan with ARGB light on them then make high airflow with ARGB as well or it look dumb in the case or you have to get all all 7 fans that are static pressure even the exhaust one so it doesn't look dumb. I do not know what there thinking.

As I say in the video, you want high static pressure fans (Arctic P series fan) when there is a solid front panel. So I think you're as good as you can be with that case 👍.

@HardwareForGamers
@HardwareForGamers 2 года назад
@@federline2799 it's hard to say for sure because it depends on the case. If I have the case correct it looks similar to the NZXT h510, for airflow anyways, and the h510 works best in negative airflow, so sucking air into the case. So it might work best with three exhaust fans. Are you using an air cooler or a radiator??

@Magnulus76
@Magnulus76 Год назад
Arctic is a good choice, especially if you need to buy several fans. Personally, I find the tradeoff with a Noctua's price worth it, because I use only one. But if I had front fans, I'd go with Arctic, because they wouldn't be running at 100 percent RPM's anyways.
@forsaken7161
@forsaken7161 Год назад
yeah the p12s are ok tbh. for 5 bucks they are doing their job, but they get quite noisy. the bionix (esport duo) and the 0db argb are much better, dead silent, while they keep everything under 60 to 65 degrees. my silent wings 3 are much louder. dont know how the new p12 max perform.
@MrDratik
@MrDratik 9 месяцев назад
This is all very interesting, but in reality, you can blow through the case with F-series fans only if you put them on both intake and exhaust to create a draft that will not interfere with anything at all. Instead, far fewer P series fans can be used with the same efficiency. But why Arctic's P-series fans squeal, resonate, knock and howl, and Arctic doesn't care about that is another question.

I used F 12 for rear fan , cuz i dont need high static pressure ; a good stable air flow with 850 -1100 rpm will be enough for. I actually didnt pick P12 series that humming sound kindda opera makes me crazy
@pavelperina7629
@pavelperina7629 2 года назад
I was just asking this question myself. I found that having two fans at high RPM as intake behind dust filters and plastic doors with slots forming grid and one of them blowing onto hard drive box and two exhaust fans running at low RPM means that I have negative pressure inside the case. But problem is ... are P12 fans better option? Can they push more air when they are running for example at half speed? And my other problem is that when exhaust fans (top one?) are running close to 1000rpm, the case starts to resonate so it does matter if they run at 850 or 1000 rpm and it does not matter if they run at 1000 or 1350rpm. Now I'm thinking about three intakes, one rear fan and keeping F12s. Anyways, I don't have a problem with cooling, besides crap single fan GPU cooler for NV1060 - either that cooler runs at 2200rpm or GPU underclocks itself.

Unless you have temperature problems, I just go with the best cheap fans. there’s a ton I haven’t tried, but I just run the Rosewill Sickle Flow knockoffs, they’re like $6. I got a bunch of them on sale for $4 each awhile back. They’re decent fans for the price. I have a ton of Corsair fans, but they’re so disgustingly overpriced now, I’d never ever buy one again or even recommend them. ThermalTake Ring fans are pretty good and pretty inexpensive for the performance of the fan. I was just thinking, Corsair charges like $40 for an ML fan. If you were dead set on getting a Corsair ML fan, you’d be better off buying one of their AIOs that come with them. You actually get a higher RPM version of the fans, and you basically get an AIO for $20 if you look at it like the two fans are worth $80, they’re not 🤮
@Magnulus76
@Magnulus76 Год назад
You almost never will want high static pressure fans for ventilating a case. They are designed to force air down onto a heatsinks or components. A dust filter isn't restrictive enough in this regard to warrant the airflow tradeoffs from buying a high static pressure fan.
@HardwareForGamers
@HardwareForGamers Год назад
I don't disagree, you should use airflow fans for case like the Lancool 2 mesh from Lian Li or the NR600 from CM, but you wouldn't / shouldn't put airflow fans behind a solid panel like the S300 from TT or the Define 7 from FD...

You don't need front fans! Just need HIGH FLOW in the rear, and 2 on top as EXHAUST!! Adding fraont fans just causes air vortexes and traps hot air in the case due to gpu obstruction. Ideally, you want MORE air exhausted then air intake to created air convection.
