Glad you pointed out that the railing doesn’t meet code. I see so many people using methods that are not code compliant and viewers just blindly decide to follow suit.

Still catching up on all your videos. It's fun to see that you also do these types of projects. I built my own deck, and did the railings with cedar. I made my posts go down under the deck and bolted them onto the structure instead and they have been fantastically sturdy for the last 8 years. Also cedar holds up when painted and you can paint it right away. It is, however, wickedly expensive. Nice job, Chris. I really enjoy watching you just do everything practical. I learn so much from you, and more importantly, I get to see how someone else who has high quality standards, goes about getting the job done with confidence.

Looks great. Like your post attachment method. The piping is sweet and a little different than the cable that everybody is using. Looks sturdy too. You know someone sitting in a chair will use it as a footrest, or a drinker will have to climb over the fence and stand on it in the process. Appreciate how substantial the deck appears while appearing to hover. If you brush concrete stain on your piers, that effect would be enhanced. Nice video.

Pro tip: use titebond 3 on the end grain as a sealer. Just paint it on there nice and thick it will do the trick and it's exterior grade I've never had an issue with it unbonding since it's wood glue. I left it submerged for a week and it held on there fine. Wood glue also works on the top of the post where sun hits it at the end grain to keep it from splitting as easily over the years.

Use satin paint on them pipe rails. Rustoleum is a bit glossy and in my experience the satin or eggshell just blends better. There is satin rustoluem now a days too which is cool as well as several colors I've never seen in years past..great work Mr brown!
