What I find hilarious is how they removed Dracula from PAL Simons Quest boxart. I kinda wonder if it was because it was just traced from the DND Ravenholme module with a few sneaky edits to not be 1 to 1
Are Touhou's naming conventions really confusing? Is it not just; Touhou [Japanese name] ~ [English Name/Subtitle] + number of the game that both Japan and west can collectively refer to the game with. Exampes: Touhou Seirensen ~ Undefined Fantastic Object (Shortened TH12 ~ UFO or Seirensen) Touhou Kouryuudou ~ Unconnected Marketeers (Shortened to TH18 ~ UM or Kouryuudou) Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom (Shortened TH7 ~ PCB or Youyoumu) If were talking about the spin-offs, then I can see where the confusion lies, since they don't always have an english title nor always include "Touhou" as part of the title. Though we have the decimal number as an indicator of spinoffs, so it's not as confusing as it could be.
I can only imagine how empathic it is from Dragon Ball's King Piccolo, who has a full very complex kanji on his chest. I would have thought that symbol is his full title, "Great Demon King" (Daimaoh). IT IS JUST MA
I think the US titles did a better job overall on making the game titles less confusing in my opinion I do not know what Japan was cooking with those names but don't let them in the kitchen again 😭🙏
I don’t live in Japan and dont have contemporary sources, but im pretty sure it didnt do as well there due to how much it leans into Hammer and Universal Horror Films. Those were way more popular in Europe and America.
Err..I've got to admit, I've never played a Castlevania game, unless Smash Ultimate counts. 🙃 I want to rectify that, but..just too much stuff to play, you know? Edit: Wow..I didn't know the Castlevania had such bad naming schemes. Is Castlevania Judgement the same name in Japan? I know about that game because it has a really bad reputation..
If you want a Metroidvania, start with Symphony of the Night. If you can acquire Symphony, play one of the first two DS games. If you want a more classic linear action platformer, start with Castlevania 4.
