My Facebook Page - / glenntendo Conker's Bad fur Day review on the nintendo 64. Recorded using an Ultra HDMI modded N64 console with an Elgato game capture HD capture card using a real game cartridge.
Cloud Strife . So so true my dude!!! I miss games in general beings games are not games any more as they have been saturated in micro transactions and d.l.c ect. Its so sad and I know that might sound pathetic especially to someone who's not for never has been a gamer but I was born in 89 so I got to grow up in the absolute golden era of gaming when devs made games to be fun oppose to modern games being made to do nothing but steal and squeeze as much money out of you as possible this absolutely ruining games!! And to think all we had to do was keep our wallets closed when presented with these game destroying practices! This is why I say no TRUE gamer would ever support micro transactions or any of that horseshit !!!!!
Manning the double barreled heavy machine gun post in multiplayer, and that metallic sound it made, was the highlight of some great evenings with my friends
This was the best game on N64 in my opinion. An amazing campaign and an even better multiplayer. I would play it for ages. Loved the teddies vs squirrels levels and the one where you had to steal raptor eggs. But wasn't as fond of the racing.
I remember playing a ton of multiplayer in the dinosaur versus cavemen levels. The cavemen looked and sounded hilarious, and the dinosaurs handled like they were drunk, so a good time was had by all.
ALMOST Successfully convinced my mom when I was 10 that this was actually a family friendly mario-like platformer that got rated "M" by mistake but it was too expensive for them to change it. Got to rent it from the video store and laughed my stupid little head off at all the poop, pee and sex jokes until she caught a (very uncannily timed) glimpse of it on the evening news in a little feature about obscenity in games that was such a common outcry in those days. OOOPS. The Xbox remake was pretty good some years later and was extra-raunchy if I remember correctly.
haha thats hilarious. I remember tomb raider playing the training bit and Lara getting out the pool saying im going to get out of these clothes - right as my mum walked in haha
my mom never cared about game ratings when i was a kid and she bought me this. i played the open half hour or so, then ended up getting into another game, and for whatever reason i never ended up coming bsck to this. up until watching a few reviews recently, i never realized what a unique experience i missed out on. i just started playing it on an emulator on my phone and made it a bit further thsn i did back then. visually it's often hard to believe this is an n64 game, it looks better than a lot of ps2 games i've played.
My favorite part of this game is the spooky chapter, has zombies, dracula, and u even get 2 fly around as a bat pooping on villagers lol, the zombie parts reminded me alot of resident evil.
Rare released it for the xbox. it's on the pack called Rare Replay or something like that. it's got about 2 dozen of Rare's games including Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie
@@napalmkitty6686 For sure its no dreamcast game, wich is what my comment was towards. As its one of the best looking and few non blurry n64, but lets not go overboard and say it could be misstaken for a dreamcast game, Also i say Yoshis story has aged better and is a nicer looking game today imo m8
Man it’s hard to pick a favorite moment, it’s one of my favorite games. I wouldn’t call this my favorite part of the game but the face Conker makes when the Hay bot shoots the missile at him is hilarious. Just picturing it in my head makes me laugh.
The original scrapped ending had Conker putting gun to his head and blowing his brains out. That capper would have made the ending possibly one of the best ever. Instead it's more open-ended for a sequel that never came to be. There's no single most memorable moment for me, but I do remember how unforgivably difficult the game became at the war section. I remember how much I struggled just at that one part of the game!
This game is a masterpiece. It's a shame it didn't go over very well, it's easily my favorite game on the N64. I honestly don't see them bringing Conker back for any main roles, even with the game's cult status, since I don't think the remake was received very well. My favorite memory of this game is playing it with one of my best friends just about every single day one summer. We played the hell out of the multiplayer. I remember being fond of the level with the giant bathroom where you could pee on other players. I think there was a button you could press that made the stream go like 50 feet. I was so easily entertained back then.
Finding out they decided to scrap the sequel to this game truly was and is heartbreaking to me. This was definitely a HUGE memory of my childhood. I got this for Christmas when I was 10 years old( parents not truly knowing how bad it actually was) but the ending of the game was so depressing with his girlfriend berry dying and him saying I just wanna go home and the grass isn't always greener. The conker saga should definitely not have ended there. If the studio were to start a gofundme page for a sequel I would donate every dollar I have. I truly hope I see a conker sequel in my lifetime
Finally played through this one in it's entirety, a few years back. Such a great game. Really wish they'd bring back games like this and Banjo-Kazooie, but at this point it seems like Yooka-Laylee is the next best option.
I had this game when I was 8... yes 8... My friend would come over every single day and we would play this game and CRACK up together!! man I loved the multiplayer, from being the squirrels and storming the teddies in their bunker, or capture the flag with the samurai sword, this game was the bomb! Also, just hearing the music as the great mighty poo came up made me remember the lyrics and how hilarious they were... I AM THE GREAT MIGHTY POO... AND I'M GOING THROW MY $H!T AT YOU!
Hell yes Glenn! Great review. The epic 16 minute break down it deserves. The last game I bought for my 64 back in the day. I love all the movie homages in the game and the multiplayer.
Accidental stumbled on your videos on a diddy kong video. Then made me think wow conkers bad fur day was one of the best and underrated video games all time. So looked that up and your video came up again and loved the reviews. Thanks man for bringing these retro video games back to life. Love the videos. Now we just need an N64 mini or more N64 games on the switch
I remember the Poo stage had this Farts as its audio which was Hilariously Funny to Me & My brother & also on Muti-player there was a stage where if you go in the restroom area your weapons were disabled & you had to piss on your opponents to kill them.... EPIC! 😂
Conker was legend. My nephews & friends had marathons on this game on multiplayer before I knew what N64 was. Eventually I became rocket squirrel. Oh the showers of teddy guts. And that damb katana! Off with the head! In memory of Dean Hanson. Who gave me the Xbox release stuffed army Conker. Hundreds of hours of memorys. And I still have it all. Friendships wouldn't have been the same without it. The beach. Total war. What memorys.
@@n64glennplant N64 Glenn plant. True that. The multiplayer is what gave Conker eternal replayability. All the review clips mostly overlook this feature. Sadly the Xbox version which had its perks. Ruined the multi levels. They got stripped of there campy cartoony qualitys
Love this review Glenn! this was one of my favorites growing up, I remember having to play it at my buddy's place cause his parents didn't care about ratings haha!
I remember the ads, the condoms, the "silent hype". I was 15-6 and living in the US at the time. I recall being in the store with my dad, having to choose between Paper Mario and Conker. Conker won, and I never looked back. I enjoyed every second of the single player game and that summer we played a ton of its multiplayer modes - including the hilarious cavemen. Easily my favourite game of all time. Just for how fun and funny it was, without skimping on the gameplay nor the tech (Alas, it didn't even need an expansion pak to run!). I finally got the Xbox version around 2006, but the multiplayer I never got to try - didn't like the shooter controls much, either, but the graphics were a nice addition, and easily looked on par with some X360 games of the day. Thanks for bringing this one back, great work.
A fantastic game. It is unique in its style. I remember playing it, and I really enjoyed the whole story mode, and spent hours playing the multiplayer mode, using always the Tediz !! CBFD is one of my favorites of all time. Great video Glenn.
My most memorable moment was the first zombie portion. I remember thinking "Oh, they're doing a spooky zombie thing now. Cute." Followed by the realization of "Oh shit, this is HORRIFYING!"
Conker's BFD was THE very first N64 game I've seen in my life - I was at a birthday party and the older kids were playing the multiplayer mode, but I wouldn't actually get my hands on an actual N64 of my own until at least 11 years later in 2014, and longer still because I've suffered to get my hands on a copy of the game last year 2021. But even before that, playing it on emulators and reading about it on magazines is still one of the key reasons why I even bothered to get it.
Great review - I didn't realise the game looked so good, looks like a Gamecube level game almost. I've actually got the PAL cartridge that I bought back in the day but haven't ever played it (along with Banjo Tooie), so I should probably fix that as it looks terrific.
The Saving Private Ryan and Bram Stockers Dracula chapters were probably my favorite two chapters from the game. That scene when Conker first walks into the Tedzi lab, and two Tedzi guards are having an out of character conversation always cracked me up. I also have to mention how excellent the multiplayer component of this game was. Back during my college days, my buddies and I used to have such a blast playing "The Beach" multiplayer mode. I still can't believe that mode was left out of the Xbox remake.
I remember Banjo Tooie coming out a week before this, I was desperately trying to get that game finished but failed miserably as it took such a long time to complete. Was great to get two Rare games in a week though.
I've wanted this game since it came out when I was a teenage and I just finally bought a copy on Ebay yesterday. I'm 42 years old now. Took me a while but I finally got it hahaha! Awesome video mate!
This game really is a masterpiece. For me it's my second favorite 3d platformer of all time right below mario 64. i've always thought of it as the Earthbound of the 3d platformer genre. By that i mean its kind of like the 3d platformer for people that are tired of all the overused 3d platformer tropes. this and earthbound kind of parody their genres so if you've played that genre to death they end up being a really enjoyable way to play a game of that style again. Plus the multiplayer was a lot of fun back in the day. The live and reloaded remake on xbox is really good too. Im glad that most people enjoy this game as much as i do.
I'll never forget my friend and playing the hell out of it. We took a five minute break (mind you we were teens) after a short tike of no moving or buttons conker looks at his watch and says "yep, still can't tell time". Dead silence to that, we about lost our shit laughing.
I'm so happy I own this game for my N64,it really is a 10/10 game and there was gonna be a sequel to it but you can thank xbox for screwing us outa that when they bought out Rareware
Great review of a great game! My most memorable moment actually came from pretty much the first scene. My friend bought this very shortly after release and he came over to my house to play it. We pop it in, turn on the N64, and very first thing there's a reference to a movie that my friend recognized, but I did not. Upon learning that I had never seen A Clockwork Orange, my friend and I headed to the local video rental. We spent the rest of the evening watching A Clockwork Orange and playing Conker's Bad Fur Day: It was great! So yeah, I have a fond memory of the opening scene just because it introduced me to Clockwork Orange in a round-about way. And man, my friends and I have had hours of fun with the multiplayer. Yeah, it doesn't control very well and the frame rate does drop often enough to hinder your progress, but we mostly just played it for how damned hilarious the whole affair is.
I was a late comer to this game. I bought it a couple of years ago but only actual played it for the first time recently. And while I haven't finished it, I'm definitely enjoying it.
*Conkers Bad Fur Day is the game that helped me grow up and mature.* The most nostalgic game console to me that defined my childhood is the Nintendo 64. I have fond memories of waking up in the middle of the night to explore caves in Pokemon Snap, fish with Link in Ohcarina of Time, and jump platforms in Iggy's reckin balls. As a child I was shy and immature with no interest in getting older. As I grew to age 11, My brother's friend told me about this alleged N64 game from the makers of Donkey Kong 64 that had a "drunk squirrel peeing on badguys, killing zombies, fighting a giant poop monster and defeating the final boss via the game freezing. This sounded too ridiculous to be true. But thanks to the computer, I was able to discover the game was not only real, but much "worse" than I thought. Yes, I initially disliked the game, yet I found myself drawn to it. There were aspects of Conker that I did not feel comfortable with, yet others that greatly intrigued me. After watching cutscenes and playthroughs of the game online, I soon made it a mission to buy it. With the help of my oldest brother, I was able to snag a copy from a retro game store. After playing the game and beating it so many time, I found the parts of the game that disturbed me before were now growing on me. I soon came to appreciate some of the dark humor placed into the story. And the dour ending where Conker realizes he just wants a normal life was quite the contrast to most of the games I played on the system. I came into Conker thinking it would be stupid, but I came out with a better understanding of growing up. It was fitting that the N64 defined my childhood,, and an N64 game capped it off as well.
@@n64glennplant That's unexpected to hear from you. Do you watch my content? Animation takes time to produce, and I have to balance it with school. I am working on an animated short series that should hopefully be ready by January next year.
My favorite moment from the game is the Rock Solid dance club. The game makes you jump through so many hoops involving the cave men/baby dinosaur/volcano missions that when you finally get into the club, you're psyched to hear that techno beat! But, do I think we'll ever see Conker return to gaming? No, I don't.
My most memorable moment was the first time i used tbe samurai sword in multiplayer. The sounds they make while jumping\cuting heads off and you dont take fall damage. The best.
As far as i am ware, Rare still owns at least one physical copy of the cancelled Conker game that was then transformed into CBFD. Because they took it out of their archive to get more footage from it for Rare Replay Archive. Unless im wrong that is.
Another great review. This is the best N64 game I don't have in my collection, but hope to find it soon. Nintendo Power might have boycotted the game but Nintendo World, the official brazilian Nintendo magazine made a big noise and dedicated many pages with previewing, discussing the game and walkthroughs. I was only 11 at the time and my parents could only afford used games anyway so I never got to play it, the game having been released at the end of the console's lifespan, so I could only read the walkthroughs as some sort of ancient let's play.
This game is so funny and the music is so catchy and memorable, I’ve completed a few times! I’d welcome it as an NSO addition to replay it all again! 🎉
The N64's swansong imo. It was released when the PS2 and Dreamcast were already out, whilst the Gamecube and Xbox would be released in some areas 7 months later. Yet Rare put in the effort to make an underrated classic
Simply one of the greatest games ever made. I often imagine what a sequel would be like (Conker‘s Other Bad Day) but I’m also glad that this was a stand alone classic.
Finally someone who actually thinks that this game is worth as it is without a sequel. Also, Rare is not known for making sequels, only for the DKC series, and Banjo Kazooie which got a sequel, but 98% of their games are a one and nly entry.
My most memorable memory from that game was actually going to buy it. I was 15 at the time which made it difficult to buy an M rated game. However, I was a big kid so they sold it to me no problem. I don't think they realized it was M rated because of a mascot character on the front of the box. Obviously the mighty poo was a big moment. But I also remember my first time dying. Finding that so new and humorous for the time. And then of course the matrix scene towards the end.
A great review for a great game. The first time i play this game was with a friend, he told me how violent i was but i didnt believe him, until we got to the multiplayer and oh my god i was i didnt expect that
The fact that this was The second to last rare game to be released on a Nintendo home console. But it is also the weirdest game I've ever played both in a good way and a bad way
Man I never had n64, and I'm actually surprised of the real graphics because when I played on emulator it looked cleaner. Also how's with the aiming because It was kinda wierd with arrow keys
i got this game when i was 6 and my favorite part was the part where you face the big cave man then you pull down his pants for the last time and my favorite multiple player part was colors which was pretty much capture the flag i loved sitting on the turret waiting for my opponent to come in and try and get my flag and i loved playing as the Tediz's this is one of my favorite games of all time thank you so much for doing this review
I cant understate how many hours I used to sink into the little bear squirrel war multiplayer mode with friends when this came out. Parents were clueless to the m rating lol
It came out at such the wrong time. The Dreamcast was blowing me away and really playing for my time. Still I bought it loved and still cherish it. The writing and personalities of the characters are so good. The Cogs. The Puppet boss and Big Brass Bollocked Boiler Sir
I was too young at the time to play Bad Fur Day on the N64. I did however play through the Xbox remake many times and absolutely loved it. I had no idea it was more censored then the N64 version though. Guess now I gotta play it and see what I missed.
Awesome review of my favorite game of all time, sad that they never made a sequel because should the 64 or game cube carried it we could’ve had a tremendous franchise
Rare were the greatest on the N64. Conkers bad fur day ticked all the right boxes for me . great gameplay , characters , graphics , environments and not forgetting the adult humour . Best part for me ( besides the great almighty poo lol 😂) . I was in my element with the Matrix , saving private Ryan , Aliens and Dracula parts . The caveman and his buxom wife was just hilarious . It really didn't get any better than the above . One of the all time greats . The multi player was also hilarious especially trying to save the frenchies from the teddies lol. The sounds of the frenchies running still echoes in my head to this day . However , the lyrics to the great mighty poo will never get old ....." I am the great mighty poo and I'm going to throw my shit at you " 😂😂😂😂.
Ahhh, Conker's BFD. Even as a kid I loved the game. I didn't get past spooky until I was 13 but that's because I was terrified of the zombies (I'm a wuss). And its obvious that my fondest memory of the game is the Great Mighty Poo (I mean who wouldn't enjoy that moment) but I guess my second favorite is the Heist chapter. I remember being so thrilled seeing Neo Conker and just mowing down my enemies easily (my heart was racing, I was way too giddy and the cutscenes were so cool that my jaw dropped and left me speechless). The Heist chapter just made me feel like I was a badass...pardon my language. Conker's BFD, my #1 favorite N64 game. Its fun and its hilarious but only for a mature audience (that didn't stop me though).
