I’m starting to think this Billy Mitchell guy’s a little fishy

I feel for him. People never believe me when I tell them I've left my Nobel Peace Prize somewhere that I can't remember.

Why did Billy make a fake plaque Couldn’t he just have said that Jerry lost the plaque or is intentionally hiding it because he dislikes Billy and wants to weaken his case? Who would be able to disprove that? Making a fake plaque meanwhile is very easy to notice and debunk

Creating a plaque from a letter, taking it to Japan, then asking it to be presented to him as an award is beyond what any 'normal' person would even consider.

I worked with a pathological liar and it got to the point that I couldn't even stomach being around him anymore. He believed his own lies and was delusional. I was convinced of it. Eventually I just started telling him he was delusional and he was a pathological liar right to his face and he wouldn't even react. It was like he would pretend that I didn't even say anything.

Remember, kids, do not commit perjury. It always goes very bad for you if you get caught.

I'll be honest Karl, I only know of Billy Mitchell through your videos. So far I have only watched one or two, as I do my best to avoid videos with drama, even from credible and rational creators like yourself. I have lived happily not knowing of the existence of someone like Billy, and the troubles him and the other people like him in these videos are causing for you and for the community. However, the other day I started watching your series about this whole ordeal, and just now I realised how valuable showing what sort of person Billy is to everyone, and also to me personally. I'm always on the lookout for inspirations for one of my OCs, who's a narcissist and a pathological liar, and so, this is truly helpful! Thank you for your diligent work on this case, as well as the many others you have covered! I'm rooting for you that next month the trial happens and you and everyone else can close the book on this chapter at long last! I honestly find it insane how much the proceedings cost, or that someone like Billy can sue you for your exercising your right to free speech in your videos, not to mention while having the moral high ground. It's the subtle, low key sarcasm that I really like about all this. Christ it's like watching a trainwreck that gets hit by another train, the rescue chopper falls out of the sky, firemen get sent in, only all of them forgot their flame resistant gear, and then finally, seal team six shows up and just puts everyone out of their misery.

I think the funniest thing is that Billy keeps committing perjury, which is an actual criminal offense. You are, in fact, under oath when you're giving a deposition.

I'm not entirely surprised to learn that Triforce (Johnson) is wrapped up in Billy Mitchell's septic spill. Triforce once ran an esports organization called Empire Arcadia (EMP) which sponsored FGC players like Justin Wong, Sanford Kelly, and melee players like Armada and Mew2king back in the early 2010's. He tricked the smash community into trusting him because he was the closest connection at the time that we had to Nintendo; he would then trap top players into predatory contracts that forced them to play for his brand, without paying them out. Total scam artist.

At some point in life, you have to let go to move on. It's amazing that this man and his crew have held on to this lie for almost two and a half decades.

You know he really just chose a look and said, "Well, this is it." And proceeded to never change.

The great thing about pathological liars is that they often believe they are much smarter than they really are. Lying a lot doesn't mean you are any good at it.

The best part is that Billy brought all these legal woes upon himself. Decades of manipulation and lies are finally catching up.

How many times has Karl said “this is where it gets really weird” while covering this story. It also never fails to then get really weird.

The funny part is, Billy is probably the only person in the entire world that actually cares about that title.

He’s likely taking the daily attendance & fabricating that all people who showed up that day, to a big convention, watched him on stage at that moment.

It’s really confusing and disappointing to see Triforce Johnson supporting a known and documented conman like Billy Mitchell, I have no idea what led him to do that but I hope he comes to his sense on this matter, because literally everywhere else he’s proven himself to be a genuine and intelligent dude (even if not always agreeable). I’m just looking at this like “wtf man”

I've met people like this, they genuinely cannot stop lying no matter what. They'll lie to you to try and explain exposed lies... Its remarkable and sad.

This whole situation is just so sad really. Is Billy's life so devoid of any value and achievement other than something he (allegedly) did almost 30 years ago, that he has to go to these insane lengths? Now to potentially have involved his son in this crap? It's really just sad how desperate he clings to this story.

Holy Fuck Triforce strikes again! I am actually pretty surprised you've never done a video on Triforce... the guy is hilarious. There's an entire interesting story to that dude lol! Like there is a reason he ran with Billy and his crew. He tried to be a big name in the FGC, after he got famous for being and I quote "The first person to ever buy a Wii" which he crowned himself and a bunch of news sites (even Kotaku did articles on him being the "first" guy to buy one, even though he isn't able to quantify that lol!). Anyways after he got famous for that he tried to get into the FGC, then he got laughed out of that scene. Then the guy goes and starts an "esports organization" Empire Arcadia, which he sponsored and recruited young guys who were really dumb (ARMS players by the way also a hilarious scene to look into) and had these young "Gamers" join up with Todgers as a teammate... Like this is all extremely slapdash descriptions, but goodlord that guy deserves a video in and of himself. He's a giant scammer too lol! I remember he somehow got in with the Billy crowd by being the guy with "puzzle game records" or something I don't even know. Now he just recruits a bunch of models to play JUST DANCE for something or another... it's weird as hell man.

I feel kind of bad for Billy's son, to be honest. Either Billy raised him wrong to have a similar personality or he was unwillingly drawn into this. Edit: I noticed that Billy was one of the initial inductees in the Hall of Fame, and I saw multiple mentions on their site that seemed to indicate he was affiliated with them somehow. Does anyone know if he's been taken off the Hall of Fame, or if they've cut ties with him as an organization?

If he truly got this award in 1999, he would be the video game player of **LAST CENTURY**. The fact that he keeps touting this as if he just got it is ridiculous.

Then Billy Mitchell attended the Kumite fighting tournament, and only using a fake game pad, defeated 100 opponents. Since then his hands have been registered with the gov as "lethal gaming weapons" and Billy has since mastered the "no touch perfect game" where only using Ki he manipulated the joystick. Truly the player of the century.

The whole Billy Mitchell story is a great example of the importance of saving and archiving data for the future, it makes things much much simpler...though cheaters always find new ways to cheat, splices, photoshop, deepfakes, a.s.o...

Back in 2016, Billy Mitchell was at the Louisville (KY) Arcade Expo. He was selling memorabilia and I bought a Namco gift set (branded swiss army type knife and multi-tool) that he said Namco had given to him in recognition of his perfect Pac-man score. While he signed it, I realized there was nothing included that said Namco had actually gifted it to him. Oh well - still neat though :)

My jaw dropped when I saw that Billy was risking his son's legal career to keep up the charade. The only other time I have seen someone do something so stupid to their offspring's legal career, it was from someone who was QUITE LITERALLY dumb enough to take a knife to a gun fight.

I'm not gonna lie. I genuinely always thought the "Video Game player of the Century" thing was legit, and that Mitchell just got so consumed by his own ego that he's ran with it for decades, but that ultimately he did actually receive that award. Like, he must get the ego from somewhere, right? It's crazy to me that even that is made up. But really it's kind of obvious. Mitchell is the kind of person who, if he did have that award, he'd actually show it *immediately* upon request to literally anyone who asked.

I love the realization in his face after what he said about the 2 plaques. His web of lies no longer works now that people are questioning him, and unfortunately the "you're just a hater" argument doesn't work in a court of law

19:30 - Let me tell you how easy it is to make plaques like that! Think about all the local small-time recognition and award trophies/medals/plaques given out in your area. School tournaments, sports tournaments, university competitions, company employee awards, local government awards. etc. They all need someone to make those plaques, trophies, or medals for them. There are companies (often relatively small local companies) that specialize in this kind of thing. They usually have a catalogue of different items of various shapes and sizes for the client to choose from. The client, say a local company that rewards employees for working for 10 years or more at the company, contacts the trophy making company and send them the work order with all the details they need, such as the kind of award object to be made and the name and logo that will be engraved on it. The company makes the object based on the client's request and there you have it. :)

I admittedly have lost track of the full chain of events, but why oh why is he specifically dying on this hill of "player of the century award"?! He already had a relatively sick plaque from Namco for Pacman... and how has it ended up tied into legal proceedings? I probably need to go and run back through everything and figure out whos suing who exactly for what.
