It is so great of jude law to still participate in such small projects and to spread the message of a human behaviour beyond mentalities, language and culture - bless you, guys! love it!
"The only person i can relate on is the person who doesn't know me"... In fact, this short but skillfully made film says more than it seems. Great work and class acting.
A glimpse into the soul of humanity. Assuredly, a heartfelt story about the connection between people despite the labels and restrictions placed by society. The limitations felt by a person trying to reach out to another in the face of a language barrier has been the one fuel that has caused me to put it as a priority in my own life. Humanity should look outside of itself to recognize we are all the same at the core. Educate to absolve the barriers and build a bridge of connection.
Jude Law is flawless in his expression of human Compassion! Just one of the reasons he is so greatly Admired and Loved! Awesome work, as expected! ♥️ Jude Law!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
its shows what freedom we have to others and the freedom we thought we did not have is greater then others - such as worrying about press outside his house but he showed a good English mannered helpful man. we were born to help thy neighbour
it's lovely on how a lost person had a great friend from the start once he asked him for help in his time of need as for the count that he was sort sighted . but the guy, he meet didn't know that and for once he was grateful that this man he's helping didn't want a photo or any other crab which most people would have wanted from him. and he too felt like he had a friend as well. so they were both helping each other out in the end , as none of them could go home until things had settled down maybe?.
This remembers me of all the times i met someone, then our ways seperated and we never saw each other again... This is just a perfect example. It's these little strories/connections - no one will ever know about - that happened between two individuals. I also like the two understandings of the title. Not only did both meet because of a connecting flight one had to take but also for the time of being together, they had a connection in a way - not beimg able to go home.
Had no idea what this was about, but watched because I enjoyed the Johnny Walker Jude Law commercials. When they pulled out the Jameson’s bottle, I thought he was advertising Irish whiskey now. Very pleasantly surprised to find it was a sweet story about humanity, instead.
I think it's because they started understanding each other on a spiritual level, that's what the director was trying to show, I guess. Language barriers don't matter when it comes to understanding the soul of the one next to you.
To the guys in the comment section, who did ask what happened: He got departed. Jude handled him to authorities thinking they will care for political asilum bill. They did not
Very moving for such a short film. That’s why we are here .....for each other! We all have individual journeys and sometimes we cross paths and then just head our separate ways. It doesn’t mean the affects of the interaction doesn’t last or doesn’t touch us it just becomes part of our experience.
I have been to borders many times been abused and insulted and threatened by "officials" whose salaries I have been paying my whole life. this film has me weeping whimpering in pain. is this the best we can do for our fellow humans?
As relevant now as when it was released. Funny story: I was just about to start uni when I saw this seven years ago. I had flown internationally myself and just got myself settled into school in Chicago. I was running to class one morning and I swear I saw this fellow (not Jude Law) on the quad as I made my way to class. Of course there was no way of confirming at the time, but I've since tried to cross reference whereabouts and it seems it's plausible as he was in Chicago for a workshop possibly? No idea what he was up to on campus, but would've loved to have said hi, thanked him for the film, and maybe taken a pull of Jameson if he was carrying it. 'Connextions!'
06:51 I don't know why, but this part made me giggle at the absurdity of racism and discrimination. Jude Law, an Englishman that is as English as Englishmen get, is asking a brown person to give an East European man from Minsk, Political Asylum in England.
The world was much different in 2013 - if you watch this in 2020 perspective / almost 2021 / it could change your point of view ---Best wishes and love to all :) stay safe
It was well shot and put together with a nice concept however being some one who always looks for discrepancies in films, I couldn't help but notice that Jude Law half way through the film, suddenly knew how to speak and respond to fluent Russian. I loved the film but just feel that the connection could have been illustrated in a more realistic way.
it might be less poignant, when they keep re-shooting.this with different actor. The meaning will be diminished. And besides, it needs an actor, not a movie star
Please forgive my long winded reply. It's just my humble take on the story. Even a movie star can't do anything here just by being a movie star (he should have taken action). The guy (whatever his "rank" may be, just wanted Jude Law's autograph), he didn't promise political asylum (Law, playing himself of course) assumed that the guy will take good care of the man from Minsk, but the sign "flight departures" tells us: he got kicked out back to home where the s*** will hit the fan. Story wise a wonderful way of misleading us. Jude Law acted too late because of a wrong assumption (and handing his new friend to the authorities instead of staying with him at all times). We think the two guys are 'connected' and have a lot in common (the fact that both suddenly understand each other's language is just movie symbolism for that) and even have similar "problems". Not even close. Jude Law goes home after the coast is clear and the poor guy is in some very deep trouble. What happens next? It's us thinking twice about our first world problems. They are nothing compared with what many other people are going through. As I said: just my humble take.
the Belarusian actor returns home from the tour. lost at the airport. Then his mother calls him and says that you can not go home. an arrest warrant has been issued.
I am not sure either. I think he was sent back anyway, instead of considering asylum for him. Jude Law couldn't follow or help him or follow through to know what happened beyond the point where he reached a locked door. Its the connection and responsibility he felt for his newly met friend. I wish they added a description.
"I can't go home either. There's a story in the newspaper about me, and the reporters are all around my house." "What's the story about you?" "Oh, it's just lies. They say I was drinking alcohol out of a bottle in the airport." "Liars. ... Hey, you want a tug?" "Sure, thanks."
Нда, круто снято, отличная история. Однако грустно немного что по реальной истории, но таких историй скоро будет меньше, ведь придется считать честно )
Great little film, a brilliant story and it was fantastic to be a part of it. Thank you BFT and Young Vic. Please check out another of my short films on my channel.
белорусский актер возвращается домой из тура. потерянный в аэропорту. Тогда его мать называет его и говорит, что вы не можете пойти домой. был выдан ордер на арест.
If getting arrested for doing nothing at all, why don't the Guardian shed some light on what's happening to activists, journalists, peaceful demonstrators and whistle blowers in Algeria 🇩🇿 💔
