Well I guess in this case it's a mix of human and machine? Don't ask me to explain the rest of the plot holes though in this film

I think the issue is that T1 and T2 were movies of their time. T1 was a slasher in an era of slashers, where the villain was a computer and acted like it. T2 was an action film in an era of action films. They were a bit too successful, but didn't give much to go with. If the stakes kept getting bigger, focusing on protecting one or two people starts to feel ridiculous, as it did in T3 and T4. If you moved towards a more general plot about stopping the big evil bad guy, you move away from the core of the franchise which is about underequipped humans fighting an unstoppable enemy. T2 also stops any sequel potential, the T-800 is dead and so is Skynet, there's no way of moving forward without taking a dump on it. This wasn't built to be a huge franchise and it showed. Genisys was the most logical next step. It was a reboot designed to make the franchise be able to have sequels that made sense It sets up mysteries to be discovered, like who sent Pops back in time, or now this new transcendent Skynet now being harder to stop. It's basically designed to fart out sequels that make sense.

Although Skynet is unlike any other machine, its actually a lot smarter & involve a lot faster, which makes it truly unique.

Skynet also would only resort to the same plan over and over, despite the fact it never worked. Skynet's a thinking machine, one with self-awareness. It is essentially an artificial human without empathy, so why wouldn't it be able to develop past its rigid, 1980s-inspired computer monolith green code thinking?

It's because Human John was holding up the Programming by not killing them. The Cancelled Sequel was literally based on the Human Part of John.

Because John isn't some run in the mill terminator, he WANTED them to join him. He IS john Connor, but he has become more than that and he now sees things from Skynets point of view. Skynet could in the end of the day not really wanting to destroy all of humanity but force evolve them into what john essentially is. John now gets the bigger picture and is swayed and also knows that in the end of the day although they are his parents....they really aren't at the same time.

Considering the universe of the terminator is constantly rewriting itself (movie and comic book wise) if Skynet Conner kills his parents he'd still exist as that reality of him that killed them would exist and the reality they're in's John Conner won't exist. The first movie kinda did this when Kyle is somehow John's dad yet the direct sequel judgement day John Conner looks different. It's because that version of John sent back Kyle and created a different John Conner. The existence of John and Skynet is forever, the shape they take when created is forever changing.

Marketing they revealed the twist in the trailer, and regardless the story of the Conners is over by Salvation.

The script trying to cram three movies worth of content (2029, 1984, alternate 2017) into a single movie doesn't let any of the ideas breathe, and in the final section they introduce all these new ideas that are just excuses to have the exact same events happen again anyway. The T-3000 is the ultimate infiltrator, yet all the infiltrating he actually does is entirely offscreen, and using him as a generic Terminator in the same type of role as all the previous ones doesn't justify his existence; as it is, a T-1000 imitating John could have fulfilled pretty much the exact same role the "real" John does in this movie. Maybe that could have been a cool idea, a future war movie where a T-1000 uses its shapeshifting to infiltrate the Resistance and wreak havoc as it sabotages them.

Because literally had none of those things. Especially not the good acting

It's kinda obviously to slow them down, even if you can't kill terminators with pistols you can possibly slightly reduce their speed for a moment. Most terminators stop or slow down a bit after getting shot for dramatic effect. Also for 0:49, it's in human nature to try and threaten someone or something with a weapon even if you know its not gonna go do much damage, I mean will you just stand around and just tell it to stop when all that's happening?

My brother and my nephew had the good fortune of not seeing any trailers. After the movie they seen one and my nephew said "That's the whole movie right there in the trailer." I had the privilege of introducing my nephew to T2, and then showed him this movie. Pretty much all he needed to see imo. :P
