The coin is a very interesting detail about connor to start the game with. It shows he is not a total machine right of the bat. A machine wouldnt have mannerisms or things alike, but connor flips a coin for no logical reason at all
We're shown that he still needs to focus and think even as an android, so it's probably just that, an exercise to be able to focus. When he deviates, I don't think he ever pulls the coin out again.
