Actually it's the other way around with the nes top loader. Nintendo recalled the top loader shortly after release due to a hardware problem but next to nobody actually sent theirs back, so most top loaders are actually more prone to hardware failure

All my love goes to the 2ds, my mom wouldnt let me get a 3ds when it came out because i get migraines but i wanted animal crossing new leaf. So when the 2ds came out, it was a god send. I was so excited i broke out the piggy bank and got the console with my own money then my parents got a few games for me, which made the lower price a plus too :)

I had a PS3 slim, I got it when the PS4 was coming out, I had been using my PS2 for years, our family weren't well off so when I got that PS3 for Christmas it was like... Christmas. The slim was cheap and had the ability to be upgraded (in terms of storage) so I don't think it's fair to call it useless. It was for those who had tight wallets or at least that's how it felt

I've always found it weird how the Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii U are so underrated considering they were good consoles.

No matter how different they design the 3DS, I will always find a way to snap them in half I believe I’ve gone through at least 6 or 7 of them (counting both DS and 3DS)

The Game Boy Micro is also a hardy system. My Famicom styled one was stepped on and thrown against a wall. No damage aside from a small bit of red paint from the back side of it, but it also had another layer of red under it, so it still looks fine. Love pulling it out randomly and people just look so confused on what I was playing.

7:56 to be fair, people have figured out how to make portable wiis by literally cutting off the part of the board that has network connectivity. It can be broken away, and the rest of the board will still play games offline perfectly.

The New 2DS XL speaker placement actually makes sense, they’re near your palms because when holding the system your palms will actually cup the sound coming from the speaker and make the sound both louder and more directed at yourself. I’ve had the Poké ball New 2DS XL since it releases and I’ve really loved it. It also feels way less top heavy than the New 3DS XL I have, which makes it more comfortable for long playing sessions. The regular New 3DS is probably still the best model overall though.

Personally I VERY much prefer the "new" 2DS XL out of every single version of the 3DS/2DS family. The bread slice 2ds never felt comfy to me, but my kids love it. I had a new 3ds xl (actually 2 at one point because I thought having one that I liked the color scheme of more would finally totally make it click for me) and the weight always really made my hands hurt after just 20 min or so. I also only ever used the 3d long enough to see how it looked in a particular game but never more than that. The new 2ds xl has just extremely light compared to the others, had a matte finish that seems to hide fingerprints forever and never show scuffs/scratches. I still used mine up until getting a switch lite, and occasionally still bust it out to play some Mario 3D land or something. Anywho thanks for coming to my Ted Talk on "why Scott was wrong to dismiss the new 2DS XL" 🤪

I had to get a 2DS because my mom thought the 3D would hurt my eyes. I convinced her to get me the New 3DS XL for my 11th birthday and it’s probably my favorite looking system I’ve ever had. It looks really slick and the screens are great.

The original 2ds is a legitimately good console. Me and my little brother got ones because I wanted to play the newer pokemon games and it has increased durability from the 3ds. 6 years later both are still working just as well as ever, I literally completed the alola pokedex yesterday

The original PS2 model having a workout montage to become the Slimline design is my headcanon now. Don't judge me.

The original PS2 remains my favourite design for any console, the 360 a close second. The slim was good but did lack support for the hard drive.

The thing with the New 3DS XL is that with the red version and possibly the other colors, the paint can chip or peel off if you sweat too much or drop it. A handheld console that has paint that chips off when you sweat or drop it.

The Top Loader NES is my go-to way to play NES games. I modded mine with AV out via a Multiout port (the port Nintendo used on SNES through GCN for AV out) as well as an NESRGB kit for that extra crispy RGB output to an upscaler. It is beautiful and I love it.

The original PlayStation actually had a number of stealth redesigns/models which had the same external shell, but made changes to the internal structure and features of the system. The way you can most easily determine which model is which, is by checking out the ports from the back of the system. The original PS1 had not only Multi-AV out, but three dedicated composite video and left and right stereo AV ports that were gone from the second revision. The second revision (the one I got when the system was new and still own) had a parallel port that the third model lacked, and the third model only had multi-AV out and a serial port.

I can't believe you covered the PS Vita but didn't mention the PlayStation TV. That's the most bizarre console redesign of them all
