This following video compares the (mostly) visual effects scenes from two versions of the classic STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION episode called "Conspiracy". On the left side you can see the effects from the original DVD version of this episode, on the right side you can see the same effects in the form in which they appear on the Blu-ray release of the episode.

lol you knew what we wanted - repeated and slowed down...nice! Also I like the little touch on Picards phaser there at the end - is that common now? I dont remember seing that before.

Agreed, this had the potential to pop up once and awhile over all 7 seasons, similar to Q. Imagine if this alien species ended up meeting the Borg 😳

The non-canon DS9 Relaunch novels picked up that storyline again. But yes, a follow-up on-screen would've been nice.

I only love Remmick's (BULGING NECK) sequence! I seriously think BILLIONS of movie directors need to make many practical makeup special effects movies out of this idea about "Men's Carrying Parasites Inside Their Throats: The BULGING NECK Beings" to "Men' Bulging Neck Transformations" right now. 👊👊👊✊✊✊👍👍👍👍👍

9:42 Awesome effects on the Blu-ray version. I think is from season 1 or season 2? Star Terk The Next Generation was aired on RPN 9 in the Philippines. I hope they edited this scene

First Star Trek episode they ever graphically depicted a person being blown to bits. A bit shocking for TV and for Trek fans.

Overall, well done. The background star field is a nice thought. .... You must concede, however, that it's visually confusing when the foreground panels display scenes with similar stars in them. .... Just a thought. ...One possible solution could be to render background stars a different color/shade when displayed against the foreground panels. Again..,, just a thought. Good work, though.

Yeah, this episode didn't make sense to me. Picard has his meeting, the leaves, then discovers that his friend, whom he just had a meeting with, dies. What should have happened was that as soon as the Horatio left orbit, BOOM! The original script is clunky.

The stop motion bugs should have been redone over anything else. They looked fake

Very disappointed that they didn't improve the small aliens from extremely poor stop motion to digital animation.

I love the stop motion aliens, but yeah, in HD they don't look as scary as they looked when I've seen them for the first time. Or maybe it has something with the fact that I was a little kid when I've seen it for the first time :-)
