This is extraordinary. THANK YOU to team GSK funding this! There are so many people who criticize those who suffer with migraines. If they were to put on this VR headset and experience for five minutes what we migraine sufferers experience, the world would become a more compassionate place … starting with them. Again, THANK YOU.
The video shows only the optical aspect of migraine. What you don't notice from this video is the unbearable headache, but also the strong nausea that you think you could throw up your soul, and that you can't hear noises and can't smell anything, and you can't eat or drink because it only causes more nausea. Migraine is all this together and it's terrible.
Is someone following them around smacking them in the head with a hammer while feeding them epicac after they have been spun in circles a couple of times? That would give them a more realistic experience
The problem with migraines isn’t the aura, they are one of my worst fears but I’m still happy I have them because it works like a warning that it will come so I have time to get home or In bed before the actual migrane is gonna start. The aura for me usually is there for like 30 mins before the headache starts and the aura completely goes away
You’re right. It’s like an “Early Warning System.” So I, like you, am grateful for them because I know what to do when an aura starts. It’s like, if a tornado warning is issued, you can get in your basement or the safest place and safely ride out the storm. A migraine aura is similar; it’s a warning of what’s to come, allowing you to get quickly home and into bed … preferably with a box of BeKOOL Cooling Gel Sheets for Migraine and Fever. I adhere one to my forehead and it REALLY helps.
OMG!!! That's it. This is EXACTLY what I experience when I have a migraine. I also can't speak. My mouth is usually numb on one side. I lose feeling in my hands and sometimes my leg. Never in my life would I know how to explain these horrific headaches in such great detail as this video explains. Thank you for doing this. I only wish my mom were still alive to be able to see it. She was always there for me. She would often...almost always say that she wish she could take the headaches for me. That's what mom's do
Like so many have said, visual is only a part of it and that usually goes away, and doesn't effect the majority of sufferers, but I'm so glad it does me; once I see it I know, get the meds in you now! If I do that I have zero pain, just fatigue and residual sensitivity to light, and other 5 senses- after effects. This was great, tho, to really show people what it's like...moving along thru your day and BLAMO! This starts and you know...here it comes. Good idea and execution!
Wish they could add the auditory disturbances, every sound you hear being booming and disorienting all at once. The overlapping in this symptom along with physical and visual aura plus the intense nausea and unbearably sharp headache is pure hell.
I started getting bad migrains after football. Been to specialists, so many DRs and they all say there just migrains. I always deep down know it had something to do with football. But 14 years after football I deal with this still.
This is really crazy like somebody got inside my head I've been having this problem for over 30 years the only thing I can do is make myself go to sleep and that helps
I’ve been suffering from migraines for 5 years now and it’s absolutely horrible. I get the nausea, fatigue, lose of balance, lights hurt, any sound hurts, my aura is sky high. I get the migraine everyday for 3 months, disappear for a month and then comes back another 2 months everyday. The migraine has a weird clock to it. One week it’ll happen as soon as I open my eyes from sleeping, one week it’ll happen after I get off work, and so on... My body aches so much and I could never get comfortable when I have a migraine. It’s pain that I can’t even explain, my family has no idea on how much pain I go through.
Add in a punch to the stomach for nausea, a bump and bang on the head, somehow get their neck and shoulder muscles tight and sore. And loud booms through headphones. Then you'll get the full experience.
I had one for a week two weeks ago and been a sufferer since I was in 5th grade and I'm 26 years old now... And my arms will numb and I get the flashy lights in my eyes! I am tired of them...
I suffered from migraines for about 15 years (35-50). After a while I could recognize the onset: shimmering light at the outer edges of my vision and an achy neck. They included sensitivity to light, sound and smell, unbearable pain at the top right of my skull, and nausea. They were incapacitating and nothing worked to stop the pain. The worst one lasted three days. Eventually they stopped as abruptly as they began.
