As I watched this video, I thought to myself, when are they going to actually introduce the pain and nausea?

my nausea is called by my auras but the pain yes

Now you can imagine how frustrating it can be when people are dismissive and say things like "I don't believe you, its just a headache". That's what my bf said to me, after I spent a night of throwing up, and crying from the non-stop vice grip like pain on my head. The disbelief from people is the most frustrating :(

and every little noise is awful and the extreme nausea the noise caused! My migraines get so severe they are borderline cluster headaches..nothing helps anymore excet narcotics and I hate taking them.

Now put vicegrips on helmet and squeeze as hard as you can. Leave it as tight as it will go all day and put a smaller pair on your jaws and tighten. Put some earbuds in your ears and crank as high as possible and listen to everyday noises. Also, have someone shine high beam flashlight in both eyes and leave also all day. Then have someone hit the back of the helmet repeatedly with a basebat ball. That''ll give you some kind of clue.

+Freddy Santiago @ Freddy...Not sure what you mean "you can't tell how accurate this comment is." If your referring to my comment, I wasn't looking for an opinion as to whether I accurately described my headaches. I have small blood vessel disease and used to get cluster headaches daily to the point i couldnt open my mouth to speak or move my head a fraction of an inch without screaming pain. Someone would have to drive me to the ER to get a shot. While there, had to write answers to questions with tears streaming down my face and have to use wheel chair, as just the movement of walking is excrutiating. I actually blew out 2 blood vessels in my brain because of swelling. Have to wear sunglasses as I cannot tolerate light when they come. Sometimes get visual disturbances with tunnel vision . I rate my headaches on the same pain scale as childbirth. Sorry you get headaches as well but everyones headaches are different. Blessings.

This is inaccurate due to the fact that the pain is so severe that you can't even open your eyes at all. And you have to beg your significant other, friend or roommate to block out any light that may be coming in because even with eyes closed it is still too bright.

Yes, I even asked my daughter to hold my hand one night, even though the room was dark the crack from the door being open with light hurt. The sounds of chatter made me anxious and when I put my head down on the pillow I felt like my head was hanging upside down from the pressure. I have such deep empathy for you

I hate all of these migraine simulation because first; all those visual effects don't happen (to me) second, they don't feel the pain of a migraine. My experience with migraines was as follows (I haven't had one in a while, but this is my experience when I was in elementary and Jr high) My migraines consisted of immense pain for hours all while being sensitive to light. It was hard to stand, but I wasn't dizzy. After about 3 hours I would puke an average of 4 times then I'd force myself to fall asleep because nothing could stop the migraine.

Migraines can give very varied effects, I get all the effects shown in the video about 80% of the time without any headaches and loss of feeling in limbs and inability to think clearly. headaches come with it sometimes but rarely they are really bad. Inability to talk or move my mouth properly is something that happens sometimes too. Talking usually stays possible but thinking about what to say may be hard. My migraines usually take 2-4 hours, sometimes longer and I have about 12-24 of them every year. The light particles shown in this video is something, in a more minor form, constantly have to live with and for me migraines became a limiting disability. When I have a migraine contrary to popular belief often find it best to go showering, or go walking (with someone). once you get used to walking with a migraine it isn't that hard you just can't make out small objects or objects directly in your aura so always take someone with you. Talking or with showering constant contact to (nearly) all body parts seems to somewhat help with symptoms. You shouldn't hate these video's because they don't apply to you because they do to quite a few others. Migraines are a broad spectrum that likely doesn't have a sole cause. (seemingly random for some people, clearly has triggers for others.) For me I used to be at 1-2 migraines a week. Removing MSG from my diet and stopping to eat foods I am allergic for helped a lot. In Pollen seasons I always have more migraines leading me to belief my allergies may somehow have an influence on them. Stress or a lack of food seems to be a common cause for me too. something not described or shown here is cuts in the vision. Where vision seems to have a thin bullry line and continues on the other side but quite a chunk of normal vision just dissapeared in between. take a picture, cut a line in it that completely cuts a corner off, enlarge the corner piece to fit in the image again and draw a blurry line on the sharp edge that created, that could be a reasonably good way to show that issue. All on all: my day usually ends when I get a migraine. I had two on vacation in England both times on a train.Though challangign I was able to continue traveling on my reasonably tight scheduele and further enjoyed by holiday. I hope I can help other people with what I written here or atleast get some understanding from people without migraines and with migraines in a different form and maybe some recognisability for people with migraines in the same form.

This is exactly what I see. Imagine this with intense skull crushing pain, and those bright blinding lights continue even if you close your eyes. That plus intense nausea, and going numb on one side of the body with speech slurring. That “mirage” makes me sick just looking at it because I know when I see that, I will be in massive pain within 10 minutes of seeing it. Gah!! I can only describe the pain as it feels like your head and neck is in a crushing vise while simultaneously feeling like your brain is pushing from the inside as well, so crushing and exploding at the same time. And your eyes feel like they are being crushed. Crying and vomiting doubles the pain. NOTHING makes it go away. I’d rather give birth daily to 10lb babies with no epidurals than have migraines. Truly.

Yes the spinning room. That's definitely what I get and no one at the office I worked at really cared or did anything to accommodate me. Imagine constantly feeling like your in a fun house. Keeping your balance at all times. Believe me you adapt with time. And work three opertories and do the job of two people. When my boss announced his retirement I was relieved a break at last. I ended up in the hospital anyway. It's a difficult road being a migraine sufferer.

Everyone is different but you have some of the aura that comes before the extreme pain and nausea and throwing up. Not to mention the extreme side effects from the medications

I was surprised they actually did the visual aspects really well. Still doesn't account for the extreme pain though but we know that's much harder to simulate

My worst migraine experience: I was going to see a movie with my friends, first we went to eat. Right when we left, I started to see these blotches of distortion. I try to brush it off. I drive to the theater, waiting in line to buy tickets I thought I was going to pass out. It felt like my body was weightless, but my head was heavy. Nausea was staring to kick in. I kept trying to brush it off, so I buy a ticket, and take my seat. Right when the movie starts I start bawling out of pure agony from all the sound and bright lights. I go to the bathroom, after 20 minutes of waiting in the bathroom my friends text me. They understand, so I just wait in my car until it passes. Even in a car, it was still agonizing. I ended up paying for a movie that I didn’t even see 10 minutes of. (Anyone else have an awful experience like this?)

I was supposed to watch a movie with my boyfriend, I got my new migraine medicine because I was going on day 4 of my episode. It was a higher dose of Sumatriptain. I used to take 5mg. It got upped to 20mg and it was a nasal spray. I took it, and my body freaked out. My vision was almost gone, i was spinning, my whole body hurt and I was crying trying to make it to the bathroom to throw up. I scared my boyfriend really bad. He saw a bad episode for the first time. But my migraine broke and I slept till the evening the next day. Migraines are brutal.

Yes! Several occasions happened to me, and it sucks because you go to watch a movie in a theater because everything is amplified. The sounds, the visuals, the screen, which is the exact opposite you need for migraines. The last migraine I had was during Marvel's Endgame 😭 It's a good thing that was my second time watching, so I wasn't missing out on much.

It's true that not everyone experiences aura and / or vertigo with migraine, but I am grateful that someone is producing video to help me / us explain what those symptoms are like. Pain, most people have experienced, even if not the same kind of pain. Aura is something people underestimate if they've never seen how disruptive it is.

I remember my first migraine crisis at 9 years old. One of my classmates used to make fun of me for years because I puked over the stairs, and I didnt know what happened that moment with all the aura thing and the vertigo. When I was 13 I understood what actually happened everytime I woke up with an awful headache and nauseas because I always ended at the hospital Now I'm 22 and I'm still struggling trying to explain what the hell its going on everytime I have a migraine crisis

This is true as hell... I've just got my migraine diagnosed and I've been having this aura thing for last 3 or 4 months... I know its really bad... U can't walk r write r read r do any other routine work and people while not understanding your condition blame you for being lazy and clumsy... I want my whole family and my friends to try out this migraine simulator.. May be then they could get an idea of what neurological conditions I go through daily while this thing doesn't even explain our pain

I will be the first to admit that I thought a migraine was just another headache until I experienced one myself. Dear God it was nearly debilitating. Thankfully it's only been one time. I feel so horrible for anyone who has to suffer through this on a regular basis.

@aphoto4u

This is so true plus add x100 headache pain. When I get them, I almost don’t remember what I did that day and forgetful. I have to take 2 excedrin + 2 Aleve extra strength for it to go away. And the aftermath feel sore/tender muscles in head, neck and shoulders. Feels like I’ve been hit with a baseball bat to the head. After the pain the soreness kicks in. Sad part is, it feels like my work doesn’t believe me when I tell them how bad they are. They think it’s not as bad as I say it is. But it is.

Try driving when you get hit with an aura. (Pre-migraine warning as I like to call it) I get the arc with the flashing zig zag lines, which looks similar to dazzle camouflage used in WW1. Its weird as hell and you can't read or see your phone or computer. Its one of the most disorienting experiences ever. Several years ago I had to leave work cos I knew I was about to get whacked with a migraine, the aura had started. I had to fumble my way across the parking lot, and a thunderstorm was rolling in at the same time. Flashing lightning was getting intense. So, i get in my car and then have to drive home before the pain hit. Well, the rain started and it poured. I have no idea to this day how the hell I made that 15 minute drive home. I couldn't see shit!!
