I watched him perform this live. It's hilarious! He starts singing the first version, and looking at the audience like "oh no!" Afterwards he does a face palm. Then he unfolds the music and realizes the parts he missed 😅

The penalty box line with the italians was about the soccer world cup years ago, Australia could've made the next round of the tournament but in the final minutes an italian player took a dive and got a penalty shot, knocking Australia out. Would've been the furthest Australia had ever gotten

I've never thought about it before, and i've heard this song many times, but I think the joke about hating Christians who honk their horn at his cautiously driving wife refers to people yelling "Oh My God" or "For the love of god!" or something along those lines.

Not gonna lie, if this was the first Tim Minchin song I heard, I wouldn't have gotten to the end. Luckily I'd been a fan for many years first so I knew there had to be something more to it.
