I will explain to you how it works and considerations you need to take when you use these lights for product photography. Somebody just gave me a set of strobes but it is a much older model. It's the Dynamite M1000x. I don't have a trigger for it and I was wondering if you had any suggestions what I should use. I shoot with a Canon 5dM4.
Hi Marion. Nice score with the Dynalites! Yes these are old units but they are built like a tank and really good quality. There is one thing that you will need to watch out for. Normally you can trigger them with a simple sync cable. However, in this case I recommend that you do NOT do this. The voltage from the strobe (I believe) is much higher than the standard voltage used these days and could damage your camera. Instead, I believe you can use a pocket wizard trigger to fire them. You will need 2 of them. One for the camera and one for the strobe. You will also need the right cable to connect the pocket wizard to the strobe.
