Hi. What wattage would you reccomend for a strobe light. Im looking to buy a strobe after many years break. Im thinking 300 or 400 watts godox. Any reccomendations on a specific mid level strobe around $200 to $300 would be awesome 😁🙏

Thanks for sharing another great video. I have only just started to watch your channel today and I'm impressed, you explain things simply and easily for a beginner to understand. I do have a question I have a cheap softbox, what light bulb output is best. When I have tried to take photos on my shooting table the white background always seems to be grey looking even with the softbox lighting on the subject. Any help on what type of bulb I should use would be great.
@ChrisPieta
@ChrisPieta 2 года назад
Hey Paul thanks for your kind words. It sounds like the light isn't powerful enough or your exposure is set to low. Try messing around with the positioning and settings on your camera
@jackhamm7745
@jackhamm7745 2 года назад
Greying of a white background can be hard to avoid when not using higher end gear. Try setting the white balance before you shoot. But a simple enough trick is in lightroom or photoshop you can select the background and adjust the exposure/brightness/hues of the background and get the desired look that way. I usually get the pure white in post processing after I shoot in my DIY white box.

Hi Chris! What light are you using for the example in this video?
@usmansafdar7213
@usmansafdar7213 2 года назад
Hey Chris, I have same dome WITH Aputure 300 dII. You kept saying you use one single source of light but @4:20 I was like no; he has the dome light AND a flash that triggers: meaning you have 2 sources of light. Then I realized you have your FLASH ONLY inside the dome! Haha. I have a Godox V860 II flash too, using same Sony A7III. Need to practice but love your videos man. They are very helpful for a beginner like me who is passionate about this stuff. I can't seem to get good images with continuous light from Aputure 300 dII. I believe flash does a better job and use the continuous light to supplement.

Thanks for making another great helpful video. I started to watch you videos yesterday and went out and bought a few things to help my channel and Instagram page grow with good images. The issue I found is taking photos of more than one product I couldn’t get everything in focus. (I take photos of fragrances) do you have a video that may help newbies on taking such photos? Thanks again mate
@ChrisPieta
@ChrisPieta 2 года назад
Hey! Keep the aperture high (f/8 or more) and that will help. Move the camera a bit farther back from the subject and crop in when you're editing. Those two tips should help, let me know how it goes

I am beginner in photography. I bought a used Sony A7s2. New 24-70 2.8 lens. How much power flash would be enough to shoot outdoors? I would want to take this flash with me easily and during travelling. Should I go for on camera flash or off camera flash This would be 1st flash that I would buy. What are your suggestions?
@dhivya83

Chris this is fantastic, I am a food photographer, but a lot of food brands want me to take product photos and I have been struggling with super reflective surfaces. I have a very dumb question - what do you use to attach your light to your c stand? I am always confused about those things.
@ChrisPieta
@ChrisPieta 2 года назад
Not a dumb question! There are a different mounts to attach it with, most bigger strobe lights have one built it. For flashes, you can buy an attachment that allows you to attach it to the c stand. You may need a Bowens type mount as well in order to attache a soft box
@dhivya83
@dhivya83 2 года назад
@@ChrisPieta thank you 🙏🏾 I have a 47 inch octagonal soft box but I noticed you are using something smaller. What do you recommend for product. I use a canon flash, it works for me for now.
@ChrisPieta
@ChrisPieta 2 года назад
@@dhivya83 Bigger is almost always better when it comes to softboxes. Bigger = softer shadows. It really just depends on the look you want.

hi, you say you take a lot of pictures with flash but for example Peter McKinnon use continuous light? What is the best way?
@ChrisPieta

Flash is best for photography, continuous is best for video. Peter mainly does videos in his studio so he only has access to continuous.

You provide a wealth of useful information, but you might want to consider speaking a little slower, and enunciating each word clearly. The transitions between sentences are also very abrupt, and it looks like you're editing out your natural pauses. This causes your face to shift in weird ways, and it's a bit distracting. Not the biggest deal, but speaking just a bit less hurriedly, and leaving in the natural pause between sentences will, IMO at least, make your videos that much better. Your videos are otherwise very professional, and again, I really appreciate your content.
