Bunch of nimbys. Meanwhile ALL OVER THE WORLD these types of rail projects go through neighborhoods, near schools, etc .

The Southbay is the last of the county with its project. I hope they move fast. Otherwise, these cities will miss the revitalization going on where mass Transit has grown.

The great news is that the hybrid ROW option was indeed selected as the LPA for this project.

You don't even land in Redondo Beach, you land in the CITY named Redondo Beach

It would be great if the city could install sound barrier walls in the metro area to reduce the noise pollution. In return, the homeowners living near that area could receive a utility discount from the city. This would be a fair and beneficial approach that would serve generations to come.

Talk to residents in highland park how they feel about the pasadena line in their front and back yards.

@@pigjubby1 It does not go on anyone's yard. It follows the old ATSF ROW pretty closely (like the ROW option for the C Line).

The ROWs were there before those houses existed. Same goes with the C line ROW.

I used to live next to some train tracks in San Bernardino and its awful. They even shake your house when they go by like it terrified me as a kid I dont miss it at all

Different kind of train. The kind used on the C Line would be about half the weight of the Metrolink train, and without the vibrations caused by the diesel engine.

The C line trains are light rail and much much quieter than either freight or heavy rail passenger trains like Metrolink or Amtrak. The C lines would also not go as fast as those other trains.

As a South Bay resident, I think the decision should be made by the residents that live in the area. Even though you might be favor of this project and want to see it built, do you actually live in the area and will it directly affect you personally? I have seen both on this video and in person how close the tracks are to the homes in Redondo Beach. It runs just on the other side of a wall in their back yards. I am concerned about how those residents that will be directly affected by the trains feel and what they would like to see in their future as far as transportation in the South Bay is concerned. Even though it was once used by freight trains, they would come through infrequently maybe once or twice a day. Having a passenger rail right next to their back yards means they will have trains going right in back of their properties many times throughout the day and into night time hours on Friday & Saturday nights. I do not live directly in that area, but I feel for people that do and I think the decision should be theirs since it will directly impact their property.

1) Electric trains are much quieter from traditional passenger rail by a country mile. Go by the E Line in Cheviot Hills, or the A Line in Pasadena and they are so quiet they sound much more like a woosh for lack of a better term. 2) While I can fully sympathize with affects to residents, I take the opinion I formed from growing up in and near LAX airport. If you buy a house near the property, especially near a property which has (regardless of how many trains a day) an active rail line in the back yard, you cannot in all good faith expect that line to remain frozen in amber. 3) Growing up in the area as well, the only reason why these homes butt up to the rail line so closely is ONLY because they encroached on RR property. The only decision should be what brings a higher quality of transit to the area where it interacts with cars the least, provides the best cost per mile, and whatever Metro as the property owner wishes to do with the route.

But it's even less fair for a small number of residents block better generational public transit for the entire region. That's the definition of a NIMBY. If we allowed local neighborhoods to have a veto over public transit infrastructure being built in and/or through their neighborhoods, we would have ZERO public rail transit infrastructure in the LA region. The residents in West LA made the exact same arguments as these residents are making. However, the E line was still built with additional mitigation.
