They are one of the founders of the Metallic Hardcore genre (metalcore) and Mathcore, while not really being credited for it or at least recognized for it on a grand scale. The influence these guys have had on other bands is immense.
They influenced so many bands that would not have existed otherwise. Even Malajube a Montreal indy rock band that was very popular in the 2000's stated in an interview that they were influenced by Converge. You really hear it in their song Les Collemboles.

one thing i love about converge, is that all members are just dead nice guys. No stupid macho stage presence. Engaged with the crowd and having as good a time as them. Amazing sound on this aswell.
Converge is way too good. The riffs, vocals, and basslines are killer and then there's Ben who takes it to a WHOLE other level with his drumwork. Unreal.
Incredible is an understatemnt imo, I discovered Converge a couple weeks ago and what a ride. Coming from a tech-death background, holy shit, I don't recall seeing anything like this, pure, unfiltered, raw emotions. IDK how Jacob does it, but that performance of A Single Tear redefined what a front man should aspire to for me. The connection he has to the crowd is a thing of beauty, I just can't get enough Edit: IDK if you noticed, I might be seeing things that aren't there, but you can tell just how emotional it was for him when the song ends. His fooling around feels like he's trying to regain composure.
Vincent LHeureux yes you’re able to feel it for sure. The time this band has spread and a genre that’s extremely dedicated to their fan following on such a family level is proof of pure musicianship that every artist should strive for. This band is def one of the pioneers and a phenomenal example for bonding with every fan. All in synch.
I saw them in Boston the night before! Since it was a Converge show however, I split my head open during Worms Will Feed/Rats Will Feast, so thank you for the video of what I missed when I got stitched up!
Right ! very impressive... i bought the Jane Doe live album four years ago ( it was my first hard core album ever ) and i thought to myself...this is fucking intense stuff ! but now that i am watching this "comedy of horrors" i think to myself...hey ! this guy Joshua is absolutely right ! that's it that's the extent of it....BUT NO...holy shit...i hear other words now...he is now expressing himself more explicitly...( ... ) this trait of their music notwithstanding, the instrumental content and the grit of it...the texture...is very interesting value for a while. As far as i'm concerned....as long as they recycle their water bottles after the show...i'm fine with the excess.
All converge songs that stick seem to do that lol. Jane doe was panned at first when it came out it was way to advanced for its time. Now it’s regarded as a staple for modern metal and metallic hardcore.
There was a duck stuck in a drain near my house in Florida and it sounded like Converge’s Live vocals. I bought that duck a drink! For real though Converge’s Live vocals took a while to grow on me but when they did.......FAAAACCVCVKKKK! Jane Live particularly! That roar is Beastmode particularly near the end on Thaw and Jane Doe!
Worms Will Feed/Rats Will Feast is one of their best to hear live. You can really witness that everything they do is calculated even in the noises/distortion
always loves this band for the msuical aspect the technique never stood Ballou s voice too much. but he s a greta guy foing truly indipendent music the one he ikes since ages. respect
\m/ ....picking up where the fkin' original 'War of Art' style material released from the very first original manifestation of: 'American Headcharge' ....picking it up right there where it was left off and sadly forgotten....reviving that particular similar vibe goin' with 'Converge'....hey, it fkin' works....keep that very unique style fkin' goin' as long as you possibly can....fk yea! \m/
