In this video, we will look how to install the German style liner into the helmet. It is simple once you understand how to do it but it is a bit difficult to install, especially when it is your first time.
Just completed this same project myself. Ordered the leather liner and chin straps from the Czech Republic and painted my helmet in early wartime apply green. Definitely a fun project
I don't know if you have any m40 Camo covers, but I would like to know if they fit an un converted helmet? I'm planning on making modern camouflage covers for shtf and hunting.
Thank you for doing this video series! I plan to do this a M40/55 helmet for a foreign legion impression. Do you know of a company that sells paint that would be good for a DAK helmet?
I have a size 66 shell but the size 58 liner doesn’t fit its to big and I even bought a finish 57 and it was to small so I am guessing if I buy a German repro size 57? Would it fit because i used a size 58 german repro liner
Hey I’m gonna get a M40/55 helmet and want to convert getting a size 58cm or 7 1/4 size helmet what size German liner should I get that will fit??? Plz I need to know before I buy
Got a m40/55 from ima with a size 58 liner. Bought a 59 liner from at the front and it won’t fit. If the shell can fit a 58 finnish liner, then it should be able to fit an M3159 size liner right? This helmet has been the biggest pain in the ass I’ve ever had.
Hi man, I also just got my m40/55 from ima and I’m thinking of converting. I found the 58 a bit too small and was thinking of ordering the ATF side 59 liner. Did u fix your issue?
Why is there a gap between the liner band from the shell (front area of the helmet)? I am converting my m55 into a German one and the band seems to be smaller compared to the profile of the shell. I do have the correct liner to shell size. I see nothing addressing this issue. Thanks!
@@worldwarguy459 I measured it several times and accidentally ordered the 66 shell liner only to find out that it was too big. I reordered the correct size for a 64 shell and when I placed the liner with the split pins, it sits too low. I’m sure that the postwar helmets had the liner holes drilled several mm lower than the ww2 version. Is that true?
