I connected it incase i want to change from rgb to argb lights and usb is to use the software but it currently needs firmware update so im using it manually at the moment. Best to connect everything for cable management otherwise u will need to re-connect it again if u need to use the other functions of the controller.

CM software will only work with their own brands but you can use the other software depending on your motherboard.

To elaborate I want 3 argb strips on my 4 pin mobo so I bought this. I don’t have sata space so I was hoping the usb would power it and would be comptaible

Yup it’s compatible with msi, Asus, gigabytes and asrock lighting softwares.

You can run any brand as long as the pin connectors fit. The controller needs to recognise the brand also to run software but if not then the controller can work manually.

You can sync them but you need two different lighting softwares.

I think the SATA cable to the power supply unit should be able to power them up.

@@XcqtiveGaming I think u dont got what I mean. My mobo is RGB, will my aRGB case fans work with aRGB style using this Cooler Master Controller? I won't my fans displaying RGB collor (1 collor per time). I want different collors at same time (aRGB thing)

My mobo is also only has rgb that is why I bought the controller to make argb fans to work. So yes it works. You can even get 9 argb fans if you like and change it all different colors. Does that answer your question?

Just connect the sata and the usb to the mobo and the 3 pin from fan to the controller. You wont need to use the 3 pin or 4 pin in mobo unless you have more than 4 fans to connect.

@@XcqtiveGaming I will be connecting a total of 7 fans, I know it only have 4 ports for 3pin argb so im using 2 splitters 3 to 1, connecting 3 fans to 1 splitter in one port, another 3 to 1 in the second port thats a total of 6 fans and the last one just by itself in the 3rd port

It has the cooler master light app softwares you can download.

As long you have the same cable pins for the controller you can add as much fans as you like and should work

The controller is like a hub also but if you want to try connecting the controller and a hub give it a try and see if it works. Controller works with all the software apps such as mystic light, aura sync etc.

There is an Asus cable that comes with the controller. That might work with the Asus aura and your motherboard. Currently i can only use masterplus to control it from my motherboard. My Msi Mystic light is not reading my coolermaster argb fan.

Yes the controller can function with 3 pin or 4 pin. Just have to use the 4 pin cable.

I would assume it works as a hub. I know CoolerMaster works great with Aura Sync (when Aura Sync decides to work).

Yeah it works like a hub aswell as a controller :)

You have to connect it and when your pc heats up it should change your argb to red.

Depends on the brands of the argb you are going to use and if that will work on the desktop software you are using.

It shouldn’t blink..it could be that the there is a connection issue or the control is faulty..here is the control function guide see if you are pressing the right button modes coolermaster.egnyte.com/dl/Pm5szqoohm/ Check also the manual for any trouble shoot.

If you want individually then you will need 3 controllers. Because 1 controller can control 4 argb fans individually. Unless you get splitters but you will only control 3x3 argb fans individually not 9.

Yes you should be able to but you might need to have the fan splitter cables to connect to the controller. Have you tried connecting the fans and controlling it with your mb light application?

yeah it should as long as the controller has the new firmware update for the software. If not you can control it manually.

Argb are usually 3 Pin and rgb are 4 pin..u can make both work with the controller even if your motherboard only has 4 pin. If you don’t have a controller then your argb fan led lights won’t work on a motherboard with only 4 pins.

@@thewazzaboo9095 i'm not sure if you can connect the controller to the usb of the motherboard and use the asus aura sync to control the rgb/argb. You might have to be the first to try it as i can't see any light review on that motherboard.

I am not sure how but I think it would be easier converting from 12V to 5V as to going 5V to 12V then you will definitely need extra volts.

Actually I am not sure it converts anything (saying this because I have it hooked up to the motherboard by USB only, so fans are powered by the controller via SATA, not the board), it just has internals for both 12V fans and 5V fans, but you can use only one option at a time.

It requires SATA Power. You can connect it to the motherboard using the included USB cable if you don't have the header for it.

@@bretlobaton4341 how many fans and leds do You want to install? You can have about 12 fans and leds on the controller with splitter but if you want to install hub also you just make sure you have power supply connected on both possibly sata cables.

Yeah I can also vouch for this, it does! I only have a 12V RGB header on my motherboard, but have 5V ARGB fans connected to the controller and the controller is hooked up to the motherboard by USB only.

New firmware is working now..just download the master plus software 👍

@@kaleid1990 I have one question to you. Are you using Cooler Master fans? I am interested, in the case if controller is connected only to USB header of motherboard, will Cooler Master software work with aRGB fans from other manufacturers?

@@kakhak I have DeepCool CF120 fans and before moving to a motherboard that has an ARGB header, I had all of them on a motherboard without an ARGB header, just through USB. So yeah, it works with non-CM fans too :D

yeah you can use just the controller itself to change it or you can connect it to your reset button and control the light from the reset button on your case.

1 wire is to power the fan which connects to your motherboard and the other for the rgb which connects to controller or rgb header of your motherboard if your not using controller. Yes you can connect the argb fans using this controller to make the rainbow colours 🤗 you may need fan cable splitters if you have lots of fans to install. Does this help?

You can connect other brand fans as long as it has the same pin structure..not sure about the deepcool fans if it has the same.

Ok, so their 3-pin rgb wire goes in the controller, but to actually spin them I need either splitters or another hub that will go into a fan header on the board, right? If so, I'm guessing a sata powered hub is better, since I saw that a fan header usually gives 1A and 6 or 8 fans are waaay over that.

@@kaleid1990 an argb fan has 2 cables one to the controller to make it light up and one to the motherboard to give power to spin the fan. The fan splitter is used to connect more than two or more fans together. The Sata powers the controller. Are you putting argb fans on your pc?

Again, dumb questions or logic may follow, so please bare with me. I want to, I am just trying to wrap my head around all this, especially given that I want that addressable part of the argb aka rainbow puke effect on a board that apparently doesn't support it out of the box, since it has just the 12V rgb header. I would go as to not care if they spin just at full speed, since anything is better than the crap fans that the case came with :)) I have also mentioned the sata powering the fans (so not the one that powers the controller in this particular instance) because I have also seen fan hubs specifically designed to manage power to a lot more fans than how many can be directly connected with splitters to each fan header on the MB, since I saw in the MB's manual that a header outputs 1A. What I realised now while writing this comment is how do I tell if I go over one header's output? The fans I mentioned, DeepCool CF120, say fan rated current 0.11A and led rated current 0.48A - am I supposed to account for both when deciding the number of fans I connect by splitters to a header or leave out the led rated current since that one is powered by the controller? I currently have some no-name fans, they're just red and they have a single cable each, with a fan header connector and a molex connector. When I started looking over RGB fans, I had NO IDEA it would be this complicated... or perhaps I am overcomplicating everything :))) (which I guess I am since I am trying to pair two different RGB standards...)

Im from Australia so i ordered it from our local computerl store scorptec they have a website.

Currently they said masterplus software and controller needs a updated firmware to work. You will need to use the mobo software such as mystic light etc.
