Those fan motors, I cut them in half with a machete or a hatchet. Two pound hammer and hatchet takes about 1 to 3 minutes to cut then the air chisel removes the copper and a small propane torch to remove the strings..most average about 15 percent copper by weight. I usually buy 1000 lbs of motors at a wack. Recovery 150 lbs of #2

Those blower/fan motors are my favorite to dismantle. With the right setup they split and pull like butter and you can do a bunch of them quick. As you noted you need to hold the blade and stator both rigidly for it to work. You'll notice if the stator gets crushed like that it pinches the copper in the sides and makes it very hard to pull out. Or worse it twists around and just turns into a hopeless wadded up mess. Good luck with it!

When you create the V block to hold the winding, you might want to have a slot in the V block for the blade to travel through so you can cut all the way through and not bottom out.

You could run that AL/CU mixed windings later through the granulator and the water sluice. I think that would be not so annoying, than cutting the strings in those windings with a knife. Perhaps the wire granulator setup will be finnished in a while, so you can send some buckets of mixed windings through it. Keep one those videos, i like watching them....Cheers.

You should save all of those aluminum/steel rotors you're pulling from the motors. You can put them into your furnace and melt off the aluminum to make bars. You can then put the remaining steel in your steel pile. If you make bars, you should be able to sell to scrap yard as CAST, because you've already proven the metal was cast into the bars you made! (you can show them this video for proof! Aluminumm melts at a much lower temperature than copper or steel and should come out quickly.

Great idea with hydraulic sheer. I was gonna slow down a meat bandsaw with a metal blade, but I'm just not as mechanically inclined as u. The air hammer was the shit though! I'm very curious where u land on this. You have a huge advantage with Hurst spreader/sheer. That thing comes in handy. That's how I ended up with the hurst gas portable pump u gotta come get. Lol

@ProjectShopFl have a tempered sheer blade off a paper guillotine cutter. Buts like 48" of paper. I thought could be cold cut and used for a sheer. You can have that too... lol.... I realized I know nothing about hydraulics when comes to pressures and limits

Also I found out why your prices are lower than my Chattanooga yard. Apparently Chattanooga, Long Beach and another... I forgot..... are the premium yards. So I lucked up and sell to regional transport hub for eastern US. They have a classification shredder that will blow u away! Like 5 tons every 5 seconds or better! Comes out in fraction % of sterl, aluminum breakage, copper fraction, etc. Company next door just got a Chips Act Recycling grant.

What is the difference between extruded aluminum and cast aluminum and why is one worth more than the other?
@ProjectShopFl
@ProjectShopFl 25 дней назад
I'm not sure but I think extruded is more pure and soft and cast is a mix and more brittle.
