There's a video of a black man picking up trash around his apartment and he gets hassled by the police, who even draws his gun on him, because he refused to put down his trash grabber stick. They had to call in backup because the cop didn't believe the black man lived there, despite the black man saying he did, multiple times. But then the white landlord comes out and says the black man lives there, and they never question him, just take him at his word on the spot. The blatant racism of that just stuns me. We have a huge problem with racist cops in America, but, because of the system and things like qualified immunity, too many cops don't get any real action taken against them. Maybe a slap on the wrist or they're punished with a paid vacation, when they should be fired on the spot or jailed.

What's lacking are refunded recruitment to weed out clowns who have no business being near a badge and a gun, much less wear ok by them. Supervision is abysmal; and taxpayers are asleep at the wheel, by continuing to pay for their atrocious behavior, there is zero incentive for it to change.

You didn't even show the worst part: we see in the body cam while he's getting arrested the neighbour who called the police went out to tell them she's the one who called and that it's not him and they acknowledge her but they still arrest him for resisting arrest. You can't charge someone for resisting arrest if you don't have the right to arrest them in the first place.

A sergeant used to confess all kinds of nastiness to me, thinking that I was impressed. He told me that many of the street patrol cops carried replica guns and dice, so that they could plant it as an excuse for unauthorized stops or excessive force. He said they almost always embellished the reports, so that they couldn't be accused of the bad police tactics they were using. I didn't always believe some of his stories but then I found an old local news report about how lots of Baltimore City cops were busted bc someone working on the police cars found pellet guns and dice in many of the glove compartments. It seems they dgaf about being busted, bc they go right back to their dirty ways. Many of the BPD "Elite Gun Trace Task Force" are in fed prison for extortion, kidnapping, pimping, stalking, selling drugs from the evidence room, protecting/working for the top drug dealers, bribe taking, robbery, impersonating the Baltimore district attorney and much more. The kind of stuff people would think is too farfetched for a cheap movie. Unbelievable.

They need all of that, but there also should be heavy penalties put in place for situations like this. You start slapping cuffs on people and you don’t know at least the description, you’re not giving anyone any information of why you’re doing what you’re doing, you punish people for having a logical response to that situation, their bail is paid for, their charges are dropped, and you lose your badge and get assault charges. At least that would be an ideal first step.

I am one white person who has absolutely never hasn’t understood why it is important to say #BlackLivesMatter. Even when I was a young child I may not have fully understood what exactly racism was but I was completely aware that how differently Black men, women and children were treated. I am completely aware of the privileges that I have as a white woman. I have actually cussed and yelled at a police officer over accusing my two sons of trespassing & vandalism when he began lying to my kids and scaring them with his lies and told my kids to go inside the house and stop speaking to him and I knew that I had nothing to fear from him and I was well aware of the fact that had my sons not been white and had I not been white, more than one officer would have come to my door and we’d probably all would’ve been violently been arrested possibly even murdered. So I will always support #BlackLivesMatter and will continue to stand with my Black American men, women and children community members in support of the BLM Movement and fight to end the injustices that have been going on in this country for far too long

What are you doing?" over and over, so that he can create doubt when the bodycam footage is examined. It was intended to suggest that the citizen was causing trouble or threatening the life of the officer.

If you’ve ever been arrested before, especially for something you didn’t do, you will know that this is a very traumatic experience. Part of police training should be to randomly have an officer jump out on you and handcuff you and maybe you can learn a little empathy.

Cops who have Taser training do themselves get shocked as part of it but they're always held up by at least 2 others so they don't collapse to the ground. I say they shouldn't be, that it should be carried out on a public street or sidewalk without support. If they get hurt from falling to the ground, well, that's one way to learn empathy.
