On election night we sent NovaraFM producer Richard Hames out into the night to find the word on the street. He failed to gatecrash the Adam Smith Institute, found 1 Tory in a pub, spoke to Faiza Shaheen in Chingford and caught Corbyn's triumphant victory speech in Islington.

We were out campaigning the day they stopped our doorstep app from working (so we couldn't access voter data for canvassing). It's been a long journey but the fact that Labour preferred having IDS back in his seat over her finally toppling one of the most hated Tories in recent memory says everything about Starmer's Labour. She is everything you'd want in a Labour MP and I personally saw the bullying by Labour towards her. She'll be back and with more time we'll win this seat.

But the establishment were nonetheless so scared they ordered Jo Swinson to call for a General Election and probably ordered Sir Keith to ramp up the Ref 2 rhetoric. But the basic two facts of the matter are that 2019 was the Brexit election the Tories obviously would never lose - despite ie notwithstanding the Starmer effect - but also that 2019 meant that three General Elections were called in a four year period; only the second time that has ever happened. The other time being 1970 and two elections in 1974 due to no overall control / hung parliament reasons. And interestingly, both Corbyn circa 2015 - 2019 and Wilson circa 1968 - 1975 were threatened with a military coup d'etat.

Corbyn should have stood up to the PLP and right-wingers like Keir Starmer. Starmer was supported by New Labour, the ruling tendency that controlled the Labour Party since the days of Tony Blair. Almost all PLP members belong to New Labour and cannot be described as socialist or even moderate leftist. While they applauded the defeat of Corbyn, many Labour members decided to leave the party. Under Jeremy Corbyn over 500.000 people were members mainly young people. Fours years after he was voted out, only 366.604 remain as of March 2024. This shows us that after Corbyn was kicked out, the Labour Party resumed its role as a mouthpiece of the capitalist establishment.

Understandable. Corbyn has the momentum to launch a new party of the working class. Unlike the political vehicle of George Galloway which is social-conservative, a new workers party must be build on a socialist program that can end the poverty and inequality caused by the capitalist system. Many would support such a genuine party, unlike the ''Workers Party of Britain'' which lost its star candidate (Galloway) to a Labour candidate.

Then 3 years later in the next election they won with 53% of the popular vote and his party became the first majority in congress. And now 9 years later (yes here in México the presidency term is for 6 years but reelection is banned) his party has became the principal party of almost all México and they got even more votes for the presidential election.

Jeremy Corbyn should form a new party, as Farage split from the Cons and formed his own party: this achieves clarity of vision rather than a ratbag of views under a dodgy umbrella sometimes termed, ingenuously, as a 'broad church'. Sod broad churches, tell me what you stand for.

Really sad to watch this from France, i had hope for the guy but the power structure inside labour seems very alike our socialist party, and it's bound to produce neoliberal garbage endlessly. Becomes infested with bourgeois, then drops any kind of reforms unless mass social movement and just preserve social order or worsen it once in power. They've been doing this since 1920 pretty much in France. And we still didn't get rid of those centrists. I wish he would produce a party structure if he has the strength to build it over a decade that doesn't bend the knee, it was the only way our left survived in France. The line isn't discussed you just join if you want to defend the line, building back the welfare state, building a new republic, and going against capitalists interest for green policies. It avoids people just coming for seats and make sure you go in the same direction. But it also implies that you need to build a program from gassroots organizations be it unions or association and forming something coherent that you can build on endlessly and moving forward.

I am gutted for you too. And I am English. The SNP cares about Scotland. And despite the recent troubles, I think they did a good job of taking care of the people during the cost of living crisis. Child poverty is a shameful thing, and Westminster is not promising to match the SNP pledges. Your Labour MPs may even reverse your better policies. And I like the SNP in Westminster. They are a progressive bunch with good hearts. Let's hope that they can recover lost ground next time around. All the best.
