In this video, I provide another update on the Coronavirus currently spreading throughout the Hubei province (not Hunan as incorrectly stated in the video), China, and around the world. While taking a trip to the local market for supplies, I talk a little about the developing situation in Shenzhen as well as why we need a greater focus on stringent containment measures, even if it harms or inconveniences specific individuals, so that the virus can be effectively contained.

Thanks for your sharing your video - it is a helpful update. It great to see what the streets of Shenzhen look like. Please stay safe. I spend a fair amount of time in Shenzhen -- Huaqianbei. It looks like you over by the Luohu District over near Dongmen. Is that correct?

Seems like the containment measures are necessary to slow the spread so there is enough medical personnel, hospital space and medicine for those who are sick.

Hi Michelle, thanks for commenting. On the ground in Shenzhen it's definitely clearer why the containment measures are needed, as we are facing the uncertainties every day. Sure, it does make life less convenient, but most of the Chinese people I've talked to just want to make sure it doesn't spread, especially as we will be starting work officially next week.

You are in an airconditioned building..... and you dont have a N95 mask. not good.

It's definitely not ideal, but there has been a shortage of masks, not just in Shenzhen, but all over China. That's one reason I only go out when I really need to. I haven't seen any N95 masks in Shenzhen.
