Sir, nowadays, companies also play very smartly to avoid all these trade union headaches and employee liabilities. They hire employees on a contract basis, 3rd party payroll, apprenticeship mode, casual manpower.
Sir I live in Helsinki Finland and there we have unions for everything and system is very employee friendly but capitalists have been trying to loosen the systems lately
Very useful insights for modern generation, Krish. I observed one thing after years of observation in life that people who are ethical by action in ANY field of life be it industries, government, R&W etc are the biggest hurdles to evil planners who are corrupt. Even if a single ethical person who does not get corrupt though he / she has the opportunity , is strong enough to break the entire chain of these dirty evil planners if they remain strong and don't bend in front of them. But these are very few people who still exist and are like beacons of light in darkness.
Communism has collapsed all over the world due to its inner contradictions, especially what Stalin and Mao Zedong did. Also the flight of industry from Bengal due to unchecked militant trade unionism which killed the manufacturing industry especially jute industry. At the end its the working class which has suffered. We should not mourn death of Communism but rather the loss of collective bargaining which was the only shield workers had.
Working class people of India has suffered, not because of what happened in Russia or China. It has suffered (and is still suffering) the consequences of its own inaction, and its own dependency on politicians. Working class people of India suffered because of their own ignorance and inaction, and, dare I say it, cowardice.

It is irrelevant whether you Congress or BJP is in power. The only thing that is relevant is: Employees (not politicians or ideological daddies) have to find a way to build negotiating power, and that can only happen through some amount of collective action. Collective action requires some preparation and organization i.e. building a trade union.

Krishnaraj rao sir, agreed, but then just like in UK, prior to Margaret Thatcher's tenure as PM we have documents and essays on Labour Trade unions (mushroomed under labor party there) turning from Righteous groups to Extortion Groups, not allowing industries to flourish. Imagine this happened in first world country, what form would it take in a third world country like India, where there is a lack of critical thinking on both left and right spectrums? I believe it's not just structural reforms, but also certain process reforms, making errors of omission as crimes of omission, increase and calculated investment in humans (instead of freebies) and proper labour reforms. Please give your suggestions sir, because the phenomenon I mentioned above is actively visible in Kerala (lives on it's geographical advantage, money transfers by gulf expatriates and gold and real estate business, apart from just malls and kirana shops) and West Bengal, where it is far worse since politics is criminalised to a greater extent, as mentioned in detail by Abhijit Iyer Mitra on "I am Buddha" channel, you must/ may watch it Krishnaraj ji.
Industrialization and trade unionization are always a work-in-progress. They are like Yin and Yang. there is never a completion, a closure, a victory of one over the other. There is always a competition between the two, and that is how the world must be.

I believe it's actually a good framework of 1) checks and balances, 2) judicial reforms: a) simplification of English language used in judgements and documents (like the document pages must be reduced significantly but making sure language used is simple and easy to understand and not convoluted), b) consistent application of laws (which is rare to see in India, since lack of consistency in application is tyrrany), c) quickening process of justice by increasing capacity of courts at district level and dealing of cases at this level itself, no further appeal (for all cases both civil and criminal cases except for cases related to constitution and it's amendments for which supreme court and high courts are to be approached) d) proper list of standards/criterias on judging typical or common cases, and good professional training of judges e) accountability of lawyers and judges to people and govt. with clear list of criterias on basis of which accountability is ensured, etc etc etc. 3) Police reforms which is actually very costly and currently very costly. Atleast first two are possible.

Industry does not progress if there is very strong union. Look at Kerala or West Bengal….There are no jobs. they move to other cities in search of jobs.

My sister is given a project in a well reputed company. Shift timings are not regular. She was promised during recruitment that shift allowance is provided for non regular timings. When she asked about it manager says team is not claiming shift allowance indirectly stating that you should not and if you claim you will be held alone in the team…..such are the corporate tactics. Promotions ke bias ko toh aap chod hi dho.
New update....my sister applied for shift allowance and now this got escalated and management asked her to delete the time stamp and re enter as normal hours.....and mind you its well reputed company Started in US in 1900's.
