Arminians often think that Calvinists do not evangelize. They fail to grasp the simple fact that most of the great 19th century evangelists were Calvinists, e.g., William Carey, Hudson Taylor, David Livingston, etc.

When I was a Mormon I GENUINELY believed that I was a Christian. I wanted to know Jesus and I'm pretty sure that most Mormons are the same way. The problem is that you won't get to know the Biblical Jesus until you're washed by the Word of God, which is a total catch 22 because Mormons are taught that the Bible has been corrupted throughout the years. PLEASE pray for Mormons to have their hearts softened so that they may read the Bible without their false predispositions and learn of Christ and His beautiful Gospel. They're drowning in lies and legalism. As frustrating as they are, don't give up on them! I was saved because long-suffering Christians taught me of the real, Biblical Jesus, and I am eternally grateful for their love. ☺️❤️

He is a former calvinist of 20+years with strong arguments against the theory of Calvinism. That's what your viewers want to see. Great video! I think it is very appropriate of them to challenge and refute the most prevalent-and dangerous-heresies in our time. It is a worthwhile use of resources and time for this ministry. Just as it was for the apostles and early Church. What we believe about Christ, the true Son of God, absolutely matters. Believing in the wrong, or false, Messiah is really a form of idolatry. We must not get this wrong.

I used to be a calvinist knowing that I couldn't be an arminian biblical, but investigation of tulip theology in contrast with the Lutheran view I have a huge problem with limited atonement in an intratemporal sense. I still believe that calvinists are brothers, but I cannot be a 5 point calvinist.

I used to think Calvinist where heritics. But the ppl who was telling me what the believed was lieing or misstepresenting what they believe. I dont call myself a calvinists, but i definitely consider myself reformed. When i actually heard what reformed theology taught i agreed completly. But i was once strongly against anyone claiming to be a Calvinist but i was ignorant of their true beliefs. I think allot of ppl create strawmen arguments or missrepresent them and they KNOW better. They just dont want others to learn the truth. So glad God showed me the truth regardless of those missleading me.

Kwaku.. Is a smart young man.. But he is soo blind to the truth. I pray God softens his heart to a heart of flesh.. Did John Calvin not put to death or was instrumental in the death of Michael Sevitus? Servitus being a monotheis. Also Calvinism is named of course after a man that wanted to rip out the book of James. Maybe it's a good idea to obey the word rather than try to change it, or come up with your own doctrines. Most if not all of Calvin's points can be disproven by the Holy Scriptures.

Sure, under Calvinism man is free to choose within the limits of his nature. Since all are born with a fallen nature utterly unable to turn to God (total depravity) unless God unilaterally chooses to save him (unconditional grace) and God does not choose all (limited atonement) unchosen man is not free to refrain from rejecting God. So such men are not free to choose God because of their nature (over which they have no control). The unchosen are therefore damned eternally for being what they can’t help being. This is not meaningful freedom vis-a-vis salvation.

I've been seeing some absolutely crazy stuff being said about Calvinism lately. People thinking that Calvinists believe the exact opposite from what we do regarding grace and works. Where is this idea about Calvinism coming from?

I have never heard an accurate description of arminian doctrine or traditionalist/provisional perspectives (soteriology). They always depict these views with a lack of charity and respect by using crude, unsophisticated descriptions without considering the views of those who hold these positions. So, I challenge apologia to afford the same respect to other soteriological positions that you demand from Mormons. If you did this regularly I would honestly by shocked.

Its so MINDBLOWING watching these videos where Apologia confronts and opposes Kwaku, over and over and over again in such a clear and precise way and to know that all Kwaku would need to do is watch and listen and he would see the truth, rather than choose only to live according to the lie and false gospel given to him through the cult he belongs to. Another problem with Calvinists is the almost near lack of any effective evangelism. That is not to say some don't try. I think a few people genuinely do. However, in reading over the public obituary of the late R.C. Sproul I noted that while he was a professor and teacher most of his life as well as the founder of Ligonier Ministries there seemed to be an absence of major evangelistic success by him. He wrote books, gave theological lectures, and promoted the heresy of Calvinism nearly all his professional life. When did he feed the hungry? Or visit the orphan or widows? When did he try to do something about poverty or advocate for the helpless? He was like Calvin who spent most of his life contending for his own theological opinions, and calling it "preaching the gospel of Christ's Covenant." How is Jesus exalted through the false teachings of Reformed theology? When is the love of Christ ever communicated to a lost and dying world because of what John Calvin and others have done? What do most Calvinists in traditionally "Reformed" churches ever do to win others to Christ? For the most part they merely attend church, listen to biased preaching/teaching which reinforce their own prejudices, and judge others who don't agree with them. This is what it practically means to be a "Calvinist" in America today. A few Calvinists try to reinvent the heresy to accommodate evangelical Christianity in the modern world. But the theology itself does not encourage evangelism because everyone is already predestined. Why bother? Some Calvinists try to point to Johnathan Edwards and Charles Spurgeon as great soul winners. However, Edwards was a judgmental Puritan who only scared early American Protestants into believing in an angry God twisted by the teachings of the same. Spurgeon was a Baptist who accepted Calvinism but he does not fit well into the narrow denominations calling themselves "Reformed." And these Reformed churches don't evangelize that much because of Spurgeon anyway. The experiment in Geneva was a failure because John Calvin failed as a loving and forgiving believer first. There is no love for sinners in this system. True Calvinists say emphatically, "God does not love the world. Jesus did not die for the whole world, just for some of us." Thankfully Jesus already founded His true Church long before John Calvin came along!

Calvinism is like this: God builds a house and makes people and puts them in the house. (He's the only fire escape. This we can all agree upon) He then determines, ordains, decrees (causes) that the people start a fire in the house - but in such a way that they somehow freely chose to start it and get all the blame. God then chooses to rescue some of the people out of the house. He could have saved all the people out of the house but he chose not to in order to show the people that he has rescued just how gracious He is and how fortunate they are because He could have left them like the other poor #@%+&*?s God then explains that He's reserved these others for the fire for no other reason than simply to make a point about how powerful He is, how powerless we are, and that He can basically just do what the heck He wants to, any time he wants to, because He's fully in control... (a controlling power tripper ! Thought that was the devil's job ?) The people He didn't save from the burning house still do serve a purpose though... they are visual aids - Praise God ! - highlighting to the rest of those He's made just how wonderfully awesome, holy, good, righteous and loving He is compared to the vermin He created to mainly hate on. We are not all Predestined we have free will to choose to believe in Jesus dieing for our sins or not. I refuse to believe that some people are chosen by God to go to hell regardless if you have faith in Jesus. If some of us are going to hell even if we believe in Jesus's sacrifice the what was the point in him dieing for our sins to begin with why would he go through so much suffering if we are predestined to go to hell it makes no sense if that is the case then Jesus could have just not suffered at all so I REFUSE TO BELIVE JESUS'S SACRIFICE WAS IN VAIN. Per my experience, calvinists are always proud and they wiggle out of every verse you try to pin them down on. Talk to them in person, they are so puffed up it's ridiculous. It's as if you have to worship their philosophy to be considered right with God. When you disagree with their "theology" they would equate that you are disagreeing with the Word - this is hard evidence they are dangerously puffed up.

I love and respect these guys at Apologia Studios and value so much of their ministry, but Calvinism has severe issues. Scriptures like Ephesians 1:3-4 absolutely dismantle Calvinism if properly understood. Arguing with a Mormon over Calvinism makes no sense whatsoever! Far too many other issues need to be addressed first. Refute his heretical Mormon doctrine and focus on regeneration. If regeneration happens, much of this will work itself out! If you want to focus on Calvinism, you can deal with Leighton Flowers, Dave Hunt, and others who intentionally misrepresent the doctrines of grace. Such professional anti-Calvinists should also be cognizant of the fact that people such as myself have arrived at the position we have not because of your eloquent explanation explanation of Calvin’s view but because I have examined their arguments against Calvinism in light of the authority and sufficiency of scripture!

Greetings friends. I am reformed. So I believe that man chooses consistently according to his nature. And I also believe that man cannot choose (at least consistently or significantly as in the case of salvation) that which does not correspond with his (sinful) nature (I.e God). The struggle for me is the fact that man (for example I as Roland)as a individual did not choose or determine his nature from the beginning. So we don’t determine whether or not we are born sinful and we also cannot choose other than what our sinful nature demands (unless God intervenes through regeneration) So how then is the natural man really free? Sometimes it makes complete sense to me and other times it doesn’t.

We pray for all that believe this origin of 3rd Century heresy and the conflict u have with the actual words of Jesus Christ the King. 1-3) All Christians subject themselves to one of four authority traditions under the Son of the Living God: Catholic/Eastern Orthodox, High Protestantism (Anglican/Lutheran, etc.,) American Christianity (Reformed, Non-Denominational, Evangelical), or their own private Opinion. Of all these "churches," only the Catholic Church has the spiritual and historical commission back to the Apostles and Jesus Christ. Private Opinion is condemned in 2nd Peter, and thus as an Athiest would say, you are a product of your religious environment. 2) The Bible and Infallible Judgement. It is a historical fact the official closed canon of Scripture came in the second half of the 4th Century (Councils of Hippo, Carthage, Rome.) If you grant Scripture is "the infallible" word of God, you must give the Church Bishops "infallible judgment" by the Holy Spirit that picked the specific books of the canon. You cannot have one without the other. If you reject the 73 book closed canon based upon the argument of Martin Luther, then you are rejecting a closed canon of nearly 1100 years. If you accept any non-Catholic translation such as the King James Version, you still must grand the men who compiled that translation infallible judgment, which directly refutes the Protestant Position. Secondly, what Bible translation do you use, and is it a good translation? An excellent argument for an English translation is the King James Version (but not 1611); however, the Douay Rheims is a better version translated over 41-42 years. Thus what version do you give authority to, and why, and do you grant "infallible" judgment to the translators. If you don't, then your translation is not safe. 3) The 60-second Position of the Church for Salvation is a confession of belief and baptism, then love the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments: (Acts 8: "Then Philip, opening his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached unto him, Jesus. [36] And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said: See, here is water: what doth hinder me from being baptized? [37] And Philip said: If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answering, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. [38] And he commanded the chariot to stand still; and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him. Question: Jeff have you ever debated or refuted Leighton Flowers? Opinion: The difference between those who hold to 'Sovereign Election' (Calvinism) and those who hold to 'Free Will,' 'Arminianism,' and the like, is this: Most Calvinists simply consider this a difference in viewpoint. Most Free Will, Arminians, etc.. say things like "I wouldn't worship your Calvinist God," "Your'e a heretic," "Calvinism is from the devil." For evidence, just look at the comments wherever you find a video regarding this topic. (hint, look below)

You misrepresent the LDS faith all the time Jeff.....that's like the pot calling the kettle black. For the past few years I was never certain as to what I believed regarding this matter. I was like a mix of Arminianism and Calvinism and was being thrown between them constantly. As of today I can now say that I have decided through careful examination of the scriptures and prayer that I now believe Calvinism to be the more accurate way of describing God’s plan.

Defending Calvinism? What about defending the gospel of Christ? It’s amazing how Calvinists pay so much homage to John Calvin who was a confused Catholic that got his teachings from another confused Catholic Augustine. For you Calvinist, you need to really do your hw about where this idea of “original sin” came from. In fact, like the Bible that doesn’t teach about “original sin”, the early church fathers didn’t either. Moreover, “faith alone” is a made up fable like “original sin”. You guys got the acronym TULIP by Arminians, not John Calvin or Augustine. So, quit telling people that they don’t understand Calvinism when you guys didn’t really understand it yourself until Arminian students came along to clean it up and provide this doctrine to you. Just dunks on Mormons for 15 minutes, hilariously missing that the Mormon religion was closer in time to the invention of Calvinism than Calvinism is to Jesus founding his Catholic Church. Next time they start telling you Calvinism is old, ask yourself why they think Jesus religion was so weak it disappeared from history for over a thousand years and needed a lawyer to restore it.

The problem here is that Reformed Theology as you say teaches double predestination, right there is the problem. In other words, God did not die for all men, he died only for some, and all the others are left locked into eternal failure. We choose between two distinct matters, if we cannot choose good or evil then God cannot punish us for choosing only evil. There is no real possibility for the un-elect to actually do something about it, and God doesn't care to stretch out his hand. It's like someone is holding you at gun point and tells you to either drink bleach or drink bleach, and then holds you accountable. Therein lies the problem, Calvinism is an exaggeration, an overdose of bad theology. However there is no need to choose, wow, between Calvinism and free will. Because Thomism, a Catholic school of thought rejected by Calvin, admits both the 'Absolute' Sovereignty of God and the free will to live or to die of man. To vulgarize it for the purposes of YT comment lenghts, it's basically an author/character relation. *The God of Calvinism reprobates by deliberately avoiding people who could be saved, the God of Catholicism on the contrary is the cause of their free will and so does not fight against it but writes it in the most mystical ways like an author.* *The God of Calvinism is ultimately forceful like a brute, whereas the God of Catholicism ultimately plays chess with himself.* Speaking of Gnostic heretics, I find it interesting that you condemn them so confidently, as if you were off the hook. Let me introduce you to one of the main guys who faught Gnosticism, St. Ignatius of Antioch. *RE:* We'll be speaking of the Book of Revelation, written in 96AD or so. About a decade later in 107AD the Bishop yes Bishop of Antioch yes Antioch where we were first called Christians ordained by St. Peter and taught by St. John, none other than St. Ignatius of Antioch. Well he writes letters to some churches while on his way to martyrdom, including the the church in Ephesus and the church in Smyrna, both mentioned in Revelation. Why are there so many warnings in the Bible to believers not to drift away, Heb. 2:1, not to fall away Heb. 4:11, not to come short of the grace of God, Heb. 12:15, not to shrink back, Heb. 10:28, not to be carried away by unprincipled men and fall from their steadfastness, 2 Peter 3:17, and not to desert Christ, Gal. 1:6? If all the elect are assured of persevering to the end, then why are there all of these warnings?

The Bible does not teach reformed theology. The Bible is very clear that God is the sanctifier. Stop giving Glory to an event that happened in history that was probably not ordained by God because Martin Luther hated the Jewish people and mistreated them so badly that he was linked to the beginning of the Holocaust because he supported the German hatred of the Jews. No matter how many Calvinist videos I have watched, trying to understand what they believe it's always dressing up with “homiletics”, “exegesis” and "hermeneutics" the bottom line of what they believe, that never changes in it's basic concept: The PERFECT and LOVING God created beings that from the moment they were created they were rejected. created them guilty of sins they had not yet committed, and eventually punish them for those sins he would force them to commit, with eternal hell. My problem with the Calvinists is not that God can’t do whatever He chooses to do, my problem is that despite what they believe they could say He’s a loving, merciful and just God. I don’t doubt that if we’re going to base all this on the exegesis of ONLY Romans 9, the Calvinist has the upper hand. That’s a no brainer. The problem is that there’s another 1188 chapters in the Bible in which in many of them you find clear contradictions to the Calvinistic view of God and their interpretation of scriptures. So maybe, just maybe, especially if the Bible can’t contradict itself, Romans 9 doesn’t mean what it may “clearly” seems to mean to them. That's also a no brainer.

I believe in predestination by saying that every situation that comes is allowed by God (For example Job, when God allows the devil to torment him) to teach you something but I still believe that there is a choice. You can chose to follow God or not(Matthew 16:24). Please give me scripture to counter these beliefs if you believe the Bible says otherwise and if it’s a matter of interpretation please give me the resources you use. My ability to understand the Bible is limited to the resources I have and I need to understand the Bible as God intended.

For example my mother raised me Mormon , dad was atheist alcoholic, grandma was catholic and step dad was evangelical !!! (Mat. 24:4-5, 2 Pet 2:1) Peter warned the church of teachers teaching heresies denying the Lord that once bought them by His blood (2 Pet 2:1) There are 100's of verses warning believers not to depart from the faith. You just can't dismiss this fact. Unsaved people can't fall away from a faith they never had. During the future great tribulation, the falling away of saints because of the Beast is going to be horrific.

I believe in a God that has always existed As God and is everywhere present and is pure Spirit and knows everything including everything about us. And Jesus is God who created us! Psalm 90:2 The difference is that LDS believe God was once a man and confined to a body of flesh and bones and still progressing! Can you tell me where the first man came from? From nothing? And LDS Jesus did not create us and is one of three gods.
