We have always wanted to drive historic Route 66 and we finally did it. We decided that just driving Route 66 in our Jeep and staying in hotels the whole way was not going to be enough so we made the decision to camp the entire way out camping and eating only what we could carry in the trunk of the Corvette, which was a challenging exercise in packing, but we did over 4,000 miles! Episode 2 includes travel through Oklahoma, Texas, and into New Mexico..

Definitely an awesome road trip and Overlanding with a not so common type of vehicle. Interesting story behind the blue whale attraction. The old gas stations are so cool!

We had a great time and living out of the Corvette was actually easier than one would think, you just have to set your expectations I guess. We also got lucky dodging the rain at some crucial camp set up and cooking time!

Haha, at the "Crapduster" ! Seems like the whole road is oozing with Americana. I can't blame you for sleeping in a hotel with the storms out! The curiosity shop was pretty interesting. That place was awesome. I love stores like that, you can literally get lost in them! Hmm, piles of cow manure and piss bottles. Haha, not a spot for a nice road side picnic. Man, Cadillac Ranch? So random! The tent was rocking and rolling all night, that sounds suspicious haha..... Love that you and Camera Lady have these epic summer trips too and thanks so much for sharing your trip!

The sides of that tent were bulging in for sure but stayed dry and comfy so all was good!

Where do you find campsites?

For this trip, given we were in the Corvette, we were limited to state parks. There is good info on the web for camping spots along Route66 and we used those.
