GREAT SHOW, brings back many memories, some happy, some not so happy. Not so happy I was DEMOBED from there on 8th. June 1982 after 12 years in the RAF.
@ARI Red Steer I was there 78/82. Cpl. in Fulton Mess & Sgt's. Mess. There is now an Ex. Service I.D. card, don't know if that gets you on to base, if it does i'll get one and go back, maybe next year's show. Cosford & Akrotiri only one's still open that I was based.
It was a dismal amount of aircraft in the air compared to 2018, no BOB memorial flight, I suppose the people there were not worth the effort. Many I spoke to felt the same.
@@sydfloyd891 Even in the early/ Mid 2000's Cosford still had displaying the Harrier, Tornado, Jaguar and what was then the new Typhoon. Plus red arrows, Blades and BOB memorial and always something extra like the one year a DHL cargo 737 flypast, another an Oil response plane that drops chemical on the ocean flypast. Deffinitly gone down hill since, slightly saved by the Waddington show stopping and the draw of the Vucan and but once that retired again Cosford had no appeal to me. Just hoping the wether is good for RIAT.
@@neilbowers6956 Go down to Fairford, they're usually there along with a few B52s. Depending on what exercises are taking place relating to NATO or if there is a war on.
18:01 seriously, my jaw drops to the floor literally when I see this European fighter jet “Dassault Rafale” display in the sky at an airshow. It’s incredible agility, speed and finally it’s aileron and barrel rolls are absolutely brutal!!! 😱 Who would actually win in a dogfight if this jet fought against a F22 raptor??!?
What was the traffic queue like this time? I paid my last visit to Cosford last month. A tired museum display that had barely changed since my last visit 4 years ago.
@@debbieburton938 I live not far from Cosford. I'm aware of the rail access. I merely asked about car access for those choosing cars, as the chap I mentioned earlier described the end of the world in terms of tail backs some years ago.
@@MarkHopewell lol they always complain about the traffic that is why we don't bother with the car anymore.. But honestly it's the same at any large event.. It takes a lot longer to get out of places like silverstone... We didn't know about the rail access until this year.. We are near Codsall but lack of parking ment we just went to wolves.. Beats 2 little kids complaining about sitting in a car
LOL I laughed a little watching that Typhoon following the Spitfire...It was all the pilot could do to keep his jet from falling from the sky...it was all a bit slow for that bird,
Show was a bit unorganized and shoddy for the price but that may be because of two years of nothing. Out of practice. Only two flypasts of f35, shouldn't have said flying should have said, FP, FLYPAST on website. Lancaster was excused by technical faults so fair enough. Why did the red arrows display over Worcester I don't know, but they were no where near the crowd. I was in Albrighton and could barely see them off to the south, and I was a mile from the crowd. Also, the first 100 minutes or so of the show was basically 35 minutes of empty silence of nothing.
Have to agree... Considering this is the Public's RAF show (and the ONLY RAF show) it was poor, in fact the Grob Tutors where stars of the show! So that is saying something. If the F35 was to do anything would have preferred it to ripped up the crowdline and into the vertical and be done. Rather than a rather lackluster flypast with a 7 mile turning circle.
My 7yr old was completely gutted... All day I had.. Is the lancaster coming is the lancaster coming... She was really upset she didn't see it.. Its the first time we took her
I was there but show was distinctly disappointing. Sparse flying and static displays, and long interludes between flying exhibits. Lots of filller material - helicopters and small propeller planes. RAF itself virtually anonymous, relying on foreign forces' jets to pad out the poverty of their offering. Show stolen by the fantastic Rafale display, after which the Typhoon looked clumsy and pedestrian. F16 from Belgium was a welcome relief from the tedium that ensued from the mid afternoon onwards. The F35 display was especially mean - one hover party trick and off, less than 5 minutes, no performance display whatsoever.

Welll chums and chumesses, you want decent airshows be prepared for higher taxes so that we have a decent sized, well-resourced and manned airforce and higher priced show tickets to pay for their time, equipment and fuel. Ditto, the other services in the armed forces. Never seen a duff Rafale display. The one they did in the 1990s, where, just as the wheels lifted-off, they quickly lifted the nose and turned 90 degrees, so that the afterburner faced the Crowd Line and then climbed on afterburner. Lightning style, to 2000 feet was noisily impressive. We should have Rafales on RN carriers. . Pitts doing a John Mohr, USA. Like to see the Pitts do a falling leaf, although wingspan might be a limitation. Pitts with jet turbine . . Surely the structure will have to be strengthened comprehensively, else bits will fall off. What no deadstick landing from the downwind leg ?
I’ll be honest I don’t think the show was as good this year as previous years ! Seemed like it was chucked together and lots of filling ! No timings ! Only good thing about this year the traffic organisation was better !
Overall a lack-lustre show, especially the shockingly weak RAF contribution. RAF too busy stuffing their faces judging by the levels of obesity we saw among their slovenly personnel waddling around the show in uniform and disgracing it. Let's hope we don't have to fight anyone anytime soon.
what are shows going to be like when everyone is flying grey F-35s' with lo-viz markings ??? can't tell who they belong to now , diversity has gone since 60's .
@@lecco666 the crowd were fantastic especially these youngsters, have a look at this clip from my live show ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yGNwgLlye3w.html
