This was a pleasant surprise for me. My utilities in Southern California are insane. I pay almost $100 for gas in my house and never turn on the heater…I mean never😅. Also my electric has gone up a lot over the last 10 years even though I use the same amount. I pay well over $550 in the summer. Your costs sound refreshing to me😇

Lol, cost of living is so relative...it was hard to make this video for that reason. Expensive for some = cheap for others. Your costs sound crazy high but then again it sounds like you're in a HCOL area. Are a lot of people moving out of your city based on the cost of living?

Salem definitely fits the bill. A lot of peeps from San Diego reach out and there main concerns are: cost of living in San Diego, and the amount of traffic! I hope some of my San Diego peeps can chime in and provide their perspective about Salem and the similarities/differences between the two areas. Coming from Portland traffic became part of my day. I had to plan EVERYTHING around traffic patterns. Not in Salem. Its very nice to have my time back. ◡̈

Good content in the video Clarity. I am viewing from Hayesville area behind Chemeketa JC. You may have already said it, but, car registration is about $120 for tags that last 2 years.

@@SalemOR nothing yet, the whole family is going to be moving (four houses out here to three houses up there) and we're just waiting for things to fall into place (like jobs and the right houses/land)

Do the gas stations there still have to pump your gas for you?

Great question! You can now legally pump your own gas here in Oregon. There are still gas stations that have attendants that will do it for you. It seems like most gas stations have kept their attendants around.

Is the mold really an issue in Oregon and do you really need a dehumidifier in your home?

I personally haven't had many issues with mold and have never had a dehumidifier. I have had 1 client who had sever mold in the attic and that was due to poor instillation of the roof. It's not to say we don't have mold here in Oregon, it just hasn't been a large issue for me personally or professionally. However, this is why it's so important to have inspections. Inspectors will get in the attic (if there is one) and look for things like mold. If there is mold they will typically say, "hey all you need is some Killz paint" or "hey, you need mold remediation". I'd love to hear what other Salem-anders have to say about their experiences with mold.
