My daughter was in a farm gurukula outside of Montreal (early 1980's). One day, as I was picking up my 5 yr.old for the weekend, the teacher yelled at her, twice, once because she came running to me, happy to see me and also yelled at her to make sure she ate all her prasadam.I was boiling inside, wanting to punch him out, bit my lip and left with her. AS soon as we got in the car, she blurted out, ' dad, I never want to go back. I said to her, AND YOU NEVER WILL. I figured, if this joker is yelling at my daughtter like that in front of me, what is he doing when I',m not there. Btw, the temple authorities tried to get me to change my mind, pleading with me that the teacher was going through rough times. I have always wondered why there are thousands of complaints against the gurukula teachers but not one person has ever blamed their own parents for producing children and then dumping them off in the gurukula without any supervision.
Anytime you see more than five men claiming any kind of authority spiritual or otherwise, RUN the other way. There is no authority on heaven or earth that gives anyone mastery over you.

Some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them. I was kicked out of the temple in Cairns in the late 1980's because I refused to go to the vyasa puja ceremony of Charles Bullshitartist. Since that time, I have reevaluated my belief system many times, and I am now proud to call myself an atheist. I don't bow to anyone, especially not child abusers. Iskcon is a corporation, with all the inherent failings that corporations suffer wherever you find them. One of the most damaging things that corporations are notorious for, is that they are a magnet for psychopaths, or as devotees call them, demons. it is estimated that between 1- 2 % of the general population are psychopaths, and roughly the same numbers of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I won't go into details about my experiences in Iskcon, but I believe that there are many examples of these cluster B types present in the higher echelons of, not only Iskcon, but all religious and spiritual organizations. There may be some nice devotees present in the movement, but then when I think about it, they aren't really nice at all, because they keep this bullshit illusion alive with their willful ignorance. A prime example can be seen in the confrontation of BVP. Fucking asshole. !!! If you cover for the crimes of child abusers, or even if you help to keep this invisible shield up that abusers hide behind, then you're just as bad, and culpable as those who committed the crimes. I want nothing to do with this Iskcon cult, or the fucking sheep that inhabit it.

I joined the Hare Krishna movement in 1972 and actually talked to you once and you said to me, " the best thing I could do for the movement was not leave it." having had a child go through this the first time, I respectfully disagree with you. There is NO reason this should still be happening. The fact that a former gurukuli is seeing it still go on is shameful. I am one of SP disciples initiated back in 1976; trust me, he would have been angry the first time, but find this unforgivable. The children were so important to him. They were to be our future leaders, instead we drive them away.
