Way to go! Here on the east coast we are seeing shortages and some items are not available! Not too many people are even aware, just think it will be there next week! As a farm wife for years, we had three huge gardens, my in-laws were knowledgeable and we planted to have staged harvesting! My mother-in-law and I canned just about every thing, even green tomatoes, we made jams and jellies from even crabapples, blackberries and pears! Her pickles were the best I ever had! We butchered or bought a half of a beef cow and froze and canned some! Her large farm kitchen was perfect for this! Some of my best memories are of time spent there! Blessed peaceful days!
I love your approach to food stock up. I am from Alabama and we always have a garden, can foods, and freeze foods. My grown kids' friends think this is so crazy, but I can't tell you how many meals those friends ate with use during covid. Glad to see some people still working hard to survive
Fun fact, I just worked as a seasonal hire for Costco! BEST employers I’ve ever had, just not pay LOL Sad fact, that $800 was about $300 2 years ago…. We have staples too, I have a friend in Utah (best cook EVER) that has the year supply! Complete organization envy seeing it! Large families have to be prepared! Interesting tid bit on the milk! PS: tell your Costco peep exec that the boxes (freezer) in Lehi looked FABULOUS! I only saw 1 empty! Everything was pulled forward and blocked! Looked beautiful !
I really admire you storing & planning ahead. Living in Cali with an earthquake possibly messing with our roads & fwys for food truck delivery it makes sense to be prepared. I can honestly say we aren't even close to that! Great job! Your new "toy" ,Zeb, looks fun and very useful for snow!! The boys must be excited to learn how to use it too!
Wow, I'm feeling really unprepared. I need to step up my food storage game! I haven't been to Costco in years. I didn't know they had so many organic things. Very nice! Awesome tractor, Zeb!
Great haul video. Small tip...when stocking the fridge/freezer, I will empty items from boxed packages and cut the instructions off to create a bit more space for other items.
Zeb your basement looks amazing. Great job! I used to shop like that when the kids were living at home now with the two of us. I find it hard. But with my health I am learning a whole new way to cook . So any cooking ideas or recipes would be fantastic. We all are looking to better ourselves and feel better. Love your videos. Keep up the good work. 😊
I bought a 3lb bottle of Cholula for my son in law for Christmas. He puts it on everything. He even dips his potato chips in it for a snack lol! Never forget the Cholula😂
Love Costco but not the crowds so we go to Sam’s and scan the barcodes as we go. Just review and pay on our phone and get our receipt scanned at the door. Done! So nice to see you all go for the healthy foods and sprinkle it with treats….with all that you grow and trade with neighbors during the summer it must be amazing to eat at your house. Well done!
You need a generator back up you can plug into so that food does not go bad. As well as canning and dehydrating. I live on Maui and I think we are the busiest Costco big families and lots of tourist as well. Would be interested in knowing some if your religion philosophy on preparing for anything.
You can freeze cheese, my Mom taught me this, you just put the cheese on the counter until it's completely defrosted before putting it in the fridge. If it's not completely defrosted it'll crumble.
I do the same in the event I can't get out for a few days. I also check what I already have AND I take time to check the 'Best By' dates, discard the expired ones (Ouch) and rotate the shelves older to the front. You need to pay attention to the unit prices because bulk is not always the best deal. When adding NEW to the freezer, I take tape and mark FIRST on the older items I need to use up. Here in Canada, I also gas up when I can at Costco for about a 5 cent a liter savings. Take good care.
Great video! I/we shop like that too, You can never be to prepared. Our 2 boys are grown but if SHTF we got them covered. Canners on standby if the power goes. Merry Christmas to all of you & God Bless!
It makes sense in this world and it looks very cost effective and timewise too...what do youuse the evaporated milk for? Btw lentil and almnd flour make fantastic tortillas!
Honestly I am always nervous food will get old or if power goes out will spoil. A little stock okay, but I could never have that much and feel like it was fresh! But if times get hard and hungry, know where to beg for food. Love the show, from Tennessee. I visit SLC often maybe I’ll introduce myself. Merry Christmas
About the A2 milk? A2 milk has the same protein as people in it and there are typically no side effects or intolerances from people that have issues with lactose. Most commercial cows are Holstein cows and their protein mutated to A1 proteins thousands of years ago which is why many people struggle with dairy
I have tractor envy lol! What is that container you poured your rice into? I need one. That bill is bad for what you got. There is only my husband and I and we walk out of Costco with a $300 bill! Going to have to try that pizza!
@@jamiandzeb it’s the one time of year we eat guilt free sugary goodies! Some how I don’t think honey coated kale crisps are going to cut it with the masses this year. 🤪
I go to Costco more for the clothing and stuff. I have a No-Frills up here in Alberta which gives Walmart and Costco competition for lower prices on food. Plus we raise our own beef. My freezer is full. You have no idea just how expensive Costco meat is up here, along with other food prices. Life in a socialist dystopian nightmare, where Trudeau's Carbon Tax taxes the farmer who grows the food, then he taxes the trucker who brings the food to the stores, then taxes the grocery store, and then the customer pays his Carbon Tax 3 times. On each item. At least my beef isn't taxed. I'm planning on growing a bigger garden next year.
