Suitcase stands are helpful in all bedrooms too so people don’t put their luggage on the new bed linens.

I like how you have kept the renovations simple and low key to fit in with the reality of the cottage, instead of the airy fairy over the top so many people seem to go for. As this is a holiday let, it has to be practical and you have achieved balance between taste and need. Well done, the whole thing is quietly elegant and welcoming. I would love to stay there, couldn't afford it with air fare from Western Canada, but I think people who can will really enjoy time spent in such a beautiful place.

Should have larger bedside lamps. A suitcase stand would be nice for guests as well as plugs for charging phones, etc

Julie, guessing you know that the pillow on one of the beds in the small bedroom is upside down. I think it would be great to have Roman shades on those 2 little windows made in the same fabric as the headboards. So looking forward to seeing the rest of the house. Wish I was in a position to come rent it for a week. Well done you.

Why did I think we spoke about removing the ivy over the stone? While it looks nice aggressive ivy can be damaging. I hope there's a plan in place for managing the ivy so that it is always watched and maintained.

If I remember correctly, didn’t she say at one point that isn’t the ultra invasive type ivy. Don’t really know if there is such a thing but I remember something like that being said.

Well I’m so happy it’s finally almost finished. It looks good. I like green but I feel like it might be a little too much with all the different shades. But I suppose it’s a English country thing which is fitting. I love the floors though! I know you & everyone there has put so much time and work into it, I’m sure it will be solid for many years now and hopefully generate you both income. It’s lovely, I’d love to stay there.

To get your pleats set someone mentioned strips of paper or satin ribbon open the drapes right up put ribbon around the drapes shaping as you fold them back tie the satin ribbon around the drapes let them sit in the ribbon or paper strips for two weeks then the pleat will be set up and will open and close the same each time you can steam them while you have them pulled back with the ribbon also depending on the fabric type ! Love all the fabric choices lovley! Cannot wait to see the finished cottage ! 😀😍

I think it would be nice if you had the tulips on the fireplace in the first bedroom hand painted to pop out a bit. A darker green on the stem and leaves, and a different bright color for each flower. You should also consider having the roof cleaned on a regular basis to help prevent future leaks. All that growth wears down the tiles and helps moisture get in, and in cold weather that can freeze and start to crack the tiles.

Learned to "dress" curtains many years ago - actually use stripes of paper around the pleats for a few days for lovely soft pleats.

Love the colors in the primary bedroom. A while ago I heard an interior designer say you can't put olive green together with greens that have more blue in them, and I thought, "Of course you can!" And you all have done it beautifully. Can't wait to see a bit of artwork on the walls.

❤ Beautiful! The chair in the primary bedroom is stunning!!! It might be a shadow but I think the curtain rod might a little low on the right side in the primary bedroom. In an old house, nothing is symmetrical. Hanging curtain rods had me flummoxed until I measured from the ceiling and not from the top of the window.

Julie, thank you for all the hard work, effort and money you put into refurbishing this building. The bedrooms, however are very disappointing and not at tall in league with a "fairytale English cottage. The beds are what one would expect to find in any motel/hotel. I see nothing special nor unique here to deserve an "English Cottage" badge of approval. Do you?

For artwork, it would be nice to bring the English countryside indoors by having lots of pastoral prints. I’m thinking Cotswolds or something like what you would see in Grasmere with stone walls and sheep.

Reading lights on the wall are preferable in the master bedroom. Some visitors need a large bedside table space with no lamp on it for CPAP machines. Important for a good nights sleep.

Unfussy decor- always a winner. Love the tranquil greens in the larger of the two bedrooms. Would have kept the fitted wardrobe though and put luggage rack etc in there. Keeps the room clutter-free.

Great job Julie! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The Serpentine shade is beautiful and calming as well it brings in the greens of nature to the interior. If I may?? Have you considered using the Serpentine for the entire fireplace wall in the guest bedroom? I thought since the mantle is off center and the wall juts out from the windows, it may be attractive to paint the wall the same color as the mantle and that way the sense of the mantle being off center would fade away and into the wall color??? What do you think?? Anyhoo, Bravo 🎉 for the completion of this sweet fairytale addition to the estate. All the best !❤

Very subdued decor, needs some paintings and or watercolors and or sketchings on the walls. I personally would have made your first bedroom the master with it's more quaint windows and the little fireplace it has instead of the much plainer simple architecture style of the second room.

Julie, I like everything about the cottage so far. Except for the colors of the bed pillows and side lamp in the primary bedroom. They seem to clash with the paint color and the beautiful curtains. To me, the pillows really brings down the wow factor of the room.

Well it is not my style , far to clean and standard hotel style to me. But that is just me. For me it feels like the inside lacks personality and some decoration. But again that is just me . There will be lots of people who will find this style just stunning and amazing. Congratulations on the new project 🤗

The room needs brighter colors to offset the dominant greens. I think the pillows were a missed opportunity to add pinks, reds, etc. Glad you will be able to let and earn money for the estate.
