I've decided to try a cottage pie in my air fryer today. I really wasn't sure about this when it went in ... did it turn out to be a disaster? Thank you for watching. ##airfryer#cottagepie#cooking
I've done a few cottage and shepherd's pies now in mine. I've just got a ninja so it's all learning again as so different to my other 1.I'm glad I came across your channel your so lovely and genuine ❤️
I'm still getting use to my air fryer, to be honest I'm not sure what all the buttons are for, I'm afraid to try them 😂 Thank you for watching and for your kind words, it really means a lot 😊
I always sweat the onions off first to make sure they are soft with a teaspoon of cinnamon, you would not believe the difference the cinnamon makes its an old Delia smith recipe. Ive just got an air fryer a few weeks ago, I did wonder if you can do cottage pie, have you done spag bol by any chance? I did a coffee cake and it was gorgeous!!!
That sounds nice, onion with a bit of cinnamon. I've never tried spaghetti bolognese as no one in my house eats it. So far I've found the desserts seem nicer than the savoury dishes, but then I'm probably a dessert person. I had my air fryer for Christmas so I'm still quite new to it. I'm getting more confident with it now, I was unsure of it at first. Thank you for watching 😊
It was 110° (F) / 43°(C) in Las Vegas,NV USA today. We can’t eat salads all summer long. This is a great meal that doesn’t require I turn on my oven and make my air conditioner beg for mercy. Thanks.
The heat you are having is terrible, I hope it cools down soon. It does get a bit monotonous eating the same thing everyday. The cottage pie is quick and easy to make and tastes nice. Thank you for watching 😊
Well it looks lovely. If you look on the container of the smash it should give you directions how to make it. I usually use it when I make corned beef pies. I'm the same as you I'd just replaced all my cake tins and baking trays for my big oven when I got my air fryer. I had to buy some new stuff, but some of my dishes fit.
It was really nice, especially with a bit of gravy on top and some peas. I've never made a corned beef pie, that sounds like something to have a go at. 😊 I've been looking in the pound shops for some smaller pans. I could do with a square one but I've not come across one yet. It's space i need to store them as well! Lol. Do you use your air fryer a lot?
Yes I use it most days. I got a 5 l one with there being two of us. I did chicken and chips for our tea tonight. I've done a fry up, cooked a whole chicken in it, toasties also sea bass. Roast potatoes and roast carrots
Nice cooking video, (on Cottage Pie) but why did you have to cook it half on the stove in a pan, then the rest in the air fryer afterwards? It seems a bit pointless doing it that way. Why didn't you just cook "-ALL"- of it from start to finish in the air fryer, isn't that what they're intended for!? When you showed it in the pan afterwards, I would have called that DONE, didn't look like it needed to be cooked any further in the air fryer. So why did you have to have to cook it twice, once each in those 2 places? I don't see the point personally.
I always cook cottage pies that way. I like to brown my mince and onion off on the stove, then add either gravy or a cottage pie mix, stirring it as it thickens. When it's thick enough I pop it into a dish then add a mashed potato topping. It then goes into the airfryer or oven to brown off. I don't do the mince & onion part in the air fryer simply because I continually stir it especially when thickening it up. Sometimes I batch cook them into little portion size trays, then I freeze them. They're very handy as I can just get what I want out of the freezer and pop it straight into the air fryer. Thank you for watching.
I'm sorry but you're talking and there's music going over the top of you and I can't hear what you're saying and because I've never made it in an air fryer I can't follow your instructions your talking but I cannot hear a word you're mixing the MASH in the bowl and I'm figure out what you'll do in because I've never used and all I'm getting is music I do apologise I'm so sorry for being a nuisance but I cannot hear you because of the music
Yes the music is where I speeded up the video whilst mixing the smash. I was talking, but it was just conversational type chat while i was mixing, nothing to do with the making of the pie. Everything you can hear is how I made it. You're not being a nuisance for asking about things. I appreciate your viewing my channel and taking the trouble to comment.
Looks so lovely, well done. I haven't used smash for years, or come to think of it cooked a Cottage pie for a while either. I am a new air fryer user and will be trying your recipe very soon. Thank You
Thank you. I wasn't sure whether it would come out OK or not. I don't do a practice run, what you see is exactly what's happening, and with this one I was expecting it to have exploded and run over. I was so relieved it hadn't! 😅 I had my air fryer at Christmas so I'm still getting use to it. Do you use yours a lot?
@@therichardsonssimpleliving Yes you did make me smile when you were worrying about it exploding, That's how I would have been. I had my ninja AF300uk for Christmas and haven't looked back. I use it most days and love it. Looking forward to trying cottage pie soon x
I can't put carrots & peas in the pie as half of my fussy eaters wouldn't eat it! I do serve it with peas, carrots & sweetcorn separately, that way my family can choose which veg they want if they don't eat them all, plus I like to pour gravy over it. Thank you for watching and commenting 😊
My youngest is terrible, everything is "I don't like that". I'm always having to make adaptable meals. I remember one of my brothers hating all veg and my mum making him eat it. Everytime she looked away my brother spooned the veg into his pockets, then after dinner when he went to play he tipped the veg from his pockets into the bin. I often wondered if my mum ever suspected him of doing this 😂 Now he eats everything so hopefully my daughter may try everything one day!
