@@kikoilouns5565 Yes it almost killed me! Jokes, I can't believe this was 6 months ago already! I can feel the tooth wanting to come out ever since this post... but it's still completely under the gum and I havn't seen the dentist! I have 0 pain and it's not bothering me at all atm... im just hoping it all works out fine and i don't have to get it removed!
Don't worry pal it's not as bad as it seems depends how bad of a angel it's erupting but had my lower right one removed last year it's fine but left it to long and it cracked 2nd molar infront now the roots are hitting nerve line go back in 2 weeks to get that one cut out too ca t wait in agony
It boils my blood when I hear the words in hindsight "That's a risk of the surgery". CMON let's all be honest here, we know that if you guys didn't have these surgeries, half a doctor's income would drop and you can't afford your boat payments then. We all know that the risks are SEVERELY downplayed in most offices, and most of the "benefits" are always up-played. Have to sell the procedure, it's marketing, I get it. The percentages of damages are off because who's ACTUALLY keeping track of everything? Is anyone following up with their patients a year or two later to ask if their nerve damage is healed? So then where are all these statistics coming from? And we all know that at the office when you see "nerve damage" on the paper and question it - most of the time they say "oh thats not gonna happen, or rare chance , thats just to appease the lawyers :)". But then when complications happen - pain medication & steroids isn't the solution! If you doctors had nerve damage, your careers would be OVER. No, the patients do NOT understand the risks until they have nerve damage themselves, most don't even understand what permanent numbness feels like till it happens. I think if you REALLY want a patient to understand the risks, pinch them on their face for 3 minutes and say "that's how it could feel like forever and you can't shake it off". Or give them local anesthetic so they can experience and remember what numbness is like right the moment they sign the papers. 90% of them will walk then. The way the whole dental industry deals with nerve damage is a joke. Ruining people's lives. If a gunman aimed at you asked you before you pull the trigger "Hey you know the risks of what happens if I pull this trigger?". We already know that risk, loud and clear. Now that's called actually understanding the risk.
Is there a medicine to heal nerves that was damaged due to wisdom tooth extraction/coronectomy? Its been months still i am taking upto 5 ibuprofens in a day due to excruciating pain in my jaw infront of my ears. I cannot sleep or i would wake up on my sleep due to the severe pain.
One of the guys that in the comment said that he took B12 pills everyday and his went away B12 liquid but I don't take it everyday so I'm going to start taking it everyday and see how it works
Waiting to get my lower wisdom tooth out via proper surgery but while waiting, i had to go to emergency dentist for antibiotics as my tongue and cheek, lip on one side was numb, i struggled to swallow. Symptoms have gone besides mildly wonky smile and aching teeth but im scared of getting it removed knowing risks
How do I know if my nerve has been completely transected? Would a person still feel slight sensation and /or pain if the lingual nerve were completely transected? Is it correct to think that even with the numbness, as long as there is some type of sensation (including pain) then the nerve is not completely severed and therefore has a chance to repair fully?
Same with me! I just had an apt today and I was supposed to remove both bottom wisdoms but the roots are dangerously close to my nerves now I have to have coronectomy procedure😕

Dr. please help, I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted 5 days ago. My 4th one on the lower left side was near a nerve ending, I am not numb at all but there is a shooting pain going through my jaw to my ear constantly and the only thing that soothes me is gauze over it 24/7, my doctor is telling me this is normal and there’s also a liquid that oozes out that I cannot stand. Is this normal!? Medicine does not work. Only the pressure of gauze and it causes me extreme discomfort and hurt. I haven’t sleep well in days, I feel my pain is being downplayed. Please help.
@@northtexasdentalsurgery Update: I clench my teeth during day to day tasks and grind my teeth at night. Turns out I was doing that and tensing my jaw muscles so much it would cause me shooting pains. I’ve been aware of it the past few days and it seems to be decreasing in pain. Thanks Doc.
Hey doc I cannot feel my gums on the right side or half of my right tongue and it’s day 7 what does that mean should I be worried bc I feel like I should give up and I’m getting too worried about it
Hi doc. When my dentist extract my wisdom tooth it was so painful and she decided to inject anesthesia directly to the nerve but that was useless because it was still so painful. I endured the pain and she sucessfully took my wisdom tooth. I did not feel my lips after the surgery. The next day i already felt it. Is it normal to inject anesthesia to the nerve? That was very very painful. I will never forget the pain of that injection. Please answer.
Got all 4 pulled within 45 mins about 3 months ago now just maybe a week ago my top right cheek bones fees pressure allot trying to open my mouth is feels hard & stuff I can’t eat anything crunchy bc it’s hurts but don’t hurt if that makes sense let’s just say it’s very uncomfortable to eat idk what’s wrong or why it just now started & why is it just one side that is like that out of no where ...
John Freeman Well, I found out I have erbs palsy. It runs in my family so when I got my tooth pulled it triggered it. The only nerve damage that a wisdom extraction can cause is in you’re chin and tongue area. So I assume you’ll be fine. Eat food for inflammation that should help a little before going. But I’m not a dr or dentist so ask them for some advice as well. Prayers for you! 💗
No no no no no my question is keeping this wisdom teeth does any nerve damage or does it blocks any nerve ? Coz after my first wisdom teeth removal I got a huge relief from TMJ clicking. And before wisdom teeth removal I could not read properly after reading just a paragraph I used feel sleepy. I got redemption from that thing eighter. So question is does wisdom teeth not only harms the jaws and teeth but make man weaker also. Isn't it ?
Just got my jaw cyst removed. When the surgeon pulled the teeth out, I felt that my lower lip went numb. Now its like 9 hours from the surgery and I noticed that my chin is numb too. Even more numb than my lip. Lip is not completely numb, but the peak of the chin pretty much is. How likely it is that this will recover? I am so relieved that this surgery is finally over, so I don't care about this that much right now, but I know I will. It sucks to have your face numb for the rest of your life. On the other hand, I had to remove that cyst, but I think I am not removing the other wisdom teeth, if I don't have to. I don't want to lose feeling from the other side too. Now I still have one good side to get kissed on.
@@taufiknuryahyamd Nothing has changed. It's not completely numb, but feeling is not normal. I think it is permanent. It doesn't bother me too much though, mainly when I am cutting my beard the vibration hurts.
Dr. Choi i will get my wisdom tooth extracted 2 weeks later. Im 33 yo and the location of the tooth is quite close to the nerve, how many percentage i will got a nerve damage? My doctor said 50% btw. But she said it will return someday, the probabablity of it being permanent is small she said. Im still affraid though.Thx

Hey Doctor in March of 2021 I had a cyst removal on my lower left gum area I had my wisdom tooth removed from the same area 2017. After my surgery I think I have nerve damage. That area throbs at night and is so painful. Even if I touch the outside of my chin in that area there is a tingling sensation. My lower bottom left teeth near the surgery area throb and stop on and off during the week or day. The throbbing is so painful. I try not to eat on my left side because sometimes if I eat or bit down on certain foods it triggers the the throbbing pain. The pain mostly occurs at night and wakes me up. I try warm compresses and warm salt water rinse when the pain gets unbearable. I even lived on oral for away to numb the the the throbbing pain

@@rebeccawilkins479 does vitamin b12 really work? I got my wisdom tooth removed by doing a coronectomy. The dentist recommended b12 but its been almost half a year still i do get this excruciating pain on my jaw in front of my right ear. I cant sleep, or if I'm sleeping suddenly i would wake up crying because of the pain (initially the dentist was pulling it but after doing an xray again cuz they realize it's not being pulled and it's taking her too long to remove it, she found out that my right lower rear wisdom tooth is behind the nerve and bone so she did a coronectomy). It was from the same dental clinic but a different dentist did my supposedly extraction turns to coronectomy, she found out that the xray that was given to her by the other dentist was already few months ago so my wisdom tooth already moved). I was just told my wisdom tooth is close to the nerve but it keeps swelling up back there and hurting me so they said I will need to go to their oral surgery location. Should I just put up with the pain or risk this?
Mine removed part of the wisdom teeth and left the second half inside. HE mentioned that over time, the parts left will move and could be easily extracted (if necessary) without the danger of nerve damage. I was numb for maybe a few days, and it was all due to the surgery itself.
It's the same exact thing for me, I got it done two days back and I'm scared if the leftover tooth would cause issues. Please reply if you have any trouble lately because of that
Hello Doc! So I've recently gone to the Dentist to see about getting my wisdom tooth removed, I was told that they couldn't remove one of them because the tooth is growing up and towards my teeth it is also hitting my nerve and so they warned me of the possibility of paralysis on the right side of my face so now I'm freaking out! I'm 21 do you think there is high risk of paralysis? It's causing pain to the right side of my head pain even raps around to the back of my head.
Same with me.. I'm 26 and still thinking if I should get 4 of them removed or not.. It hurts sometimes and I feel like it's getting worse but I'm not suffering.. I just don't want that it get worse.. But on the other hand I'm also freaked out about the fact that I could be paralyzed on the right side of my face... Also, my dentist told me that they will never be out but always stay in my gums...

Hi Doctor. I want to get my wisdom tooth removed which is very close to the nerve. I had taken an OPG 2D xray for it. I want to get CBCT 3D xray so that dentist can see accurately the location of the nerve but I am scared that these many xray radiations will have negative consequences in future (Eg: cancer). Can you please suggest me what to do?
Had to get an impacted wisdom tooth removed by an oral surgeon in April bc I had a cyst on it. Well here I am still numb and getting burning sensation since. It’s horrible and the worse part is that the oral surgeon has shown no sympathy, given no advice and almost blamed me for it by saying I should’ve removed my wisdom teeth as a teenager. What am I supposed to do now??? I trusted he would do the work right after all he used all the technology needed before surgery yet here I am stuck with this daily pain. I feel so wronged. Update: it’s been one year since and I’m still numb. I need a lawyer at this point.
hopefully it'll come back. what you want to see is slow progress in regards to the sensation. if you feel 10/10 numbness you wanna see that come back and improve every day, even if its just a little

Silly question With all the complications that come with removing the wisdom tooth, Would it be "wise" for someone scared , to take another healthy tooth of the same size so the wisdom tooth can come and have space with no problem ? Or would that make it worse ?
I wonder that too. I've heard of dentists taking out the second molars of 10-14 year olds so that their wisdom teeth have room when they come in, not done very often though. But probably once the wisdom tooth has formed, there will remain a gap between the 1st and 3rd molar
@@straightwhitemale966 I had to take a molar out few years ago on my right side and the wisdom tooth came out no problem at all , no pain etc the space is not entirely closed but is all good .So I guess the only reason they don't take a "healthy one " is beause of the gap or I don't know lol
@@JuniorRTorres well if a wisdom tooth is taken out before it erupts it's not as bad as pulling a fully formed molar, and there is plenty of gum to stitch up, instead of waiting for gum to grow over the clot
I think it depends - in my case, it wouldn't have helped at all because the wisdom teeth began to erupt at angles that irritated the insides of my cheeks.
Wow, ty. I get that this is supposed to be informal videos for potential clients to visit your clinic, but you should visit the comments more often to make the section more cozy lol. Also thank you for settling my nerves (haha pun intended), cannot feel my lower right lip but I guess it takes time. Anyways, more informative than my own dentist. I guess consultations isn't free, but you could respond to the comments saying they should make an online appointment that costs x amounts of $$$ or something for answers to peoples inquiries so as to not leave them hanging. Just a suggestion, I like this channel! Todeloo!
