Diane Abbott has confirmed she has been barred from standing as a Labour MP at the general election. Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting says the news 'came as a surprise' to him.
The Labour Party has pledged to clear the NHS backlog should they win the General election. Wes Streeting says 'I'm just not going to be able to afford' the 35% pay increase that Junior Doctors have asked for, if Labour wins the general election.

Waiting lists increased because of Lockdown, labour wanted harder lockdowns which would have created more mess.

Labour wanted faster lockdowns... The reason that they needed to be longer was because good old Boris dithered and delayed. Ignoring the experts, he eased lockdowns early, anyway.

I resigned from the Party due to the Leader and this slimy character as well as the rest of the Labour Cabinet. Disgraceful the way Diane Abbot being treated. Just like the way that a Candidate was parachuted in from London when we had 2 excellent Councillors who served our City well.

I do not know what Labours answer to the Junior Doctors Strike will be whatever Wes Streeting has to say. However do some research into the strike and who is behind it, it is being supported by the Labour Party, you need to ask the right people, when I heard the news earlier today, I could not believe what I heard, even though I had head in a discussion with some local Labour members and officials.

They want to strike yet again after having a pay rise if I am not mistaken! But yet we people whom pay there wages can not get a appointment at a doctors or sit in hospital AnE for hours on end example. I broke and slashed my hand on a machine in my work place. Blood everywhere bandage sogged in blood and I was sat around waiting for hours! But yet we can have someone come in with a bad cold because not chance in getting a doctor appointment can be seen and sent out in seconds! Get the priority correct first. You picked the career your in so do what your paid for!

@@Eab11375 there take home on average per calendar month is £2880 after deduction and pension. Now let's bare in mind can you get a appointment at your local surgery? Can you get a appointment at the hospital for something you have been referred for that's if you get a appointment in the first place? When your seeing or visit family or friends and there getting ill-treated? Now am not saying it's every single doctor or nurse that's unprofessional. But what I am saying is these strikes are to much and to often! They still haven't caught up on missed appointments for the last strike! They opted to do this job knowing the pay and what's to come. I am not saying don't ask for a better wage rise but go about it another way because what about the people that have a appointment cancellations because they are being selfish and are not doing there job instead there standing around waving a sign getting nowhere! To me it's unprofessional! This country is bolloxed because we are to soft on people!

@@user-xs9cm1rb6nthis is naivety manifest. The service is run by the government and managers. The reason you cannot get seen timely in A&E or get a GP appt is due to the lack of staff and facilities. There is absolutely no other way to extract a pay rise from this government than through strike action. The government themselves said that they will not talk unless there was a mandate for strike action knowing that talks can be brushed off if there was no threat of serious action.

1) we did not agreed to the pay rise as part of negotiations 2) we pay our own wages for a start, and we also can’t get appointments. Secondly, it is not doctors fault you can’t get an appointment. Doctors in the uk already see FAR too many people per shift, it’s simply unsafe. 3) when doctors picked their career it was far better paid and the sacrifices lesser.

@@Bringon-dw8dx so 4 week prior to me post this I can still not get a appointment at my local doctors and I've tried again today and ohh guess what NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE. So your telling me what exactly? They tell me go to my local chemist to get antibiotics prescribed but guess what because I am over a certain age they tell me they can not proscribe me anything go to your doctors to get a prescription but ohhh I can not get a appointment! But yet want to strike so there be more of a backlog!!!! Yeah that's really clever and helpful to myself or anyone else suffering. Thanks

@@taffyterrier we have many of the best medical schools in the world and no doctor from any decent medical school abroad would dream of coming to the NHS for the shoddy pay. We poach from the third world and export to the Antipodes and North America. Great outlook for the future.
